Garage interior decoration. How to sheathe the inside of a garage inexpensively: special requirements Exterior finishing of a brick garage in the yard

Every car owner spends a significant part of his time in the garage, and the question of comfortable time spent in in this case becomes relevant. You can make your garage more comfortable by decorating the interior walls. Read an overview of the characteristics of the types of inspection pits in the garage.

Sheathing features

Due to the specifics functional use premises, the finishing material for lining the walls of the garage from the inside must have a number of certain qualities and operational properties:

  • the finishing material, first of all, must have not only decorative properties, but also perform the practical function of protecting the wall surface from various types of harmful influences, for example, from moisture or temperature changes;
  • the finishing material must be resistant to specific substances characteristic of the process of servicing and operating a vehicle (gasoline, motor oil, etc.);
  • finishing material must be fireproof;
  • the finishing material must be resistant to mechanical stress;
  • in cases where the garage is not heated, the finishing material must be resistant to subzero temperatures;
  • in addition, the finishing material should not absorb odors and accumulate various pollutants, and in case of contamination, it should be easy to clean;
  • The finishing material should be characterized by a long service life without loss of its original qualities.

How to line the walls in the garage from the inside?

You can sheathe the walls in the garage from the inside with the following materials:

Each of the listed materials has certain advantages and disadvantages.

Plastering walls was previously the most popular way to decorate garage walls from the inside. Today, plastering is not so often used, but it is the most in an accessible way wall decoration at a price.

Plasterboard is in demand as a finishing material for walls, and garages are no exception.

Advantages of using plasterboard sheet:

  • easy installation process plasterboard sheets on frame base, which does not require special skills, is characterized by the efficiency of finishing work;
  • affordable price;
  • light weight material;
  • Using drywall you can level the walls, as well as hide various communications under the drywall.

Benefits of use plastic panels:

  • the light weight of the material allows you to quickly carry out the work;
  • plastic panels, unlike drywall, are not at all afraid of moisture and have a longer service life;
  • Plastic panels are easy to care for; just wipe them with a damp cloth;
  • prices for plastic panels are also very affordable.

Advantages of using OSB boards:

  • OSB boards have higher strength characteristics than plasterboard and plastic;
  • Thanks to certain treatment with special substances during production, OSB boards are characterized by fairly high resistance to moisture.

How to cover the walls for warmth?

Unheated garages are not uncommon, and when decorating the interior walls of a garage, it is recommended to use all possible ways maintaining positive air temperature inside the garage for as long as possible. One of these methods is to use heat-insulating material for wall cladding, under the decorative and finishing layer.

The most popular and affordable thermal insulation materials suitable for cladding indoor garage walls:

  • Styrofoam;
  • penoplex;
  • expanded polystyrene foam;
  • mineral wool.

To secure the thermal insulation material to the surface of the walls, you will need to pre-mount the lathing. The sheathing can be made from either wooden slats, and from a metal profile. Keep in mind that when using wooden slats, they must be treated with an antiseptic compound to prevent the formation of mold. In addition, before installing the sheathing, the walls must be waterproofed. The thermal insulation is placed in the space between the laths, the insulation is attached, as a rule, to an adhesive base and mechanically using self-tapping screws with a wide head.

The use of thermal insulation material in the process of wall cladding will significantly reduce heat losses.

What to cover with?

One of the modern finishing materials that is optimal for finishing the walls of an unheated garage are sandwich panels, which are structurally a multilayer sheet consisting of two outer layers, which can be made of PVC, moisture-resistant plywood, wood-polymer materials and an inner thermal insulation layer.

Photo

Garage lined inside wooden clapboard it looks very impressive, but keep in mind that such finishing material requires constant maintenance, that is, it is necessary to regularly treat walls lined with wooden lining every two or three years with antiseptic and fire-resistant penetrating primers.

The use of plastic panels for interior decoration of garage walls is very popular, since plastic panels differ long term service and ease of installation (the garage can be sheathed within one day). Range of plastic panels on the market building materials, will allow you to choose finishing materials to suit every taste.

Video

When choosing a finishing material, you should focus, first of all, on design features garage (area of the garage, is there heating), in addition, it is worth taking into account such a nuance as the garage’s susceptibility to flooding.

It would certainly not be a mistake to say that for any car owner, a garage is a necessity. At the same time, it will serve not only as a haven for the car itself, but also for the owner himself, because it is so important for a person to have his own corner where he can retire or just read in silence, because it may not be entirely convenient to do this at home. That is why a garage should not only be a durable structure capable of protecting a car from criminal attacks and the vagaries of nature, but also be quite cozy and aesthetically attractive, without losing its functionality.

In this regard, the walls of the garage cannot be left in the form in which they will be after construction, so you need to think about what to line the inside of the garage with.

General finishing requirements

In answer to the question posed above, it should be noted that there are many materials suitable for interior decoration of garage walls; a number can be distinguished general requirements, which must be carried out.

  • Mechanical stability. First of all, it is necessary to take into account that during the operation of the garage, significant mechanical loads will be exerted on the walls, so the material used to decorate the walls must have sufficient strength to withstand them. We are talking about both resistance to impacts from hard objects and punching.
  • Resistant to chemicals. When working in a garage, the walls will likely be exposed to a variety of chemicals from gasoline to oils and acids, so it is extremely important to choose a material that can withstand their exposure. In addition, the walls will constantly get dirty, so to clean them, chemical cleaning agents will be used, which, in their destructive effect on the surface, are perhaps not inferior to the most active reagents. This circumstance must also be taken into account.
  • Easy to care for. As mentioned above, the walls of the garage will get dirty, so, among other qualities, the material for finishing them should be easy to clean. In other words, it should be easy to wash and at the same time require a minimum of additional protective measures like frequent painting or varnishing.
  • Aesthetics. In addition to everything else, it should be said that covering the walls of the garage from the inside should be visually attractive. After all, this is a home for a car, and a person’s attitude towards things can say a lot about him.
  • Resistant to temperature changes. If we are not talking about a garage built into a house building and having a single heating system, then quite significant temperature fluctuations may occur inside the room, especially in the cold season. Therefore, the wall finishing material must have sufficient resistance to these changes, that is, not deform or warp. In addition, temperature changes are most often accompanied by the formation of condensation, so the material must be resistant to moisture.

The above requirements for garage wall finishing materials can be considered general; the rest can be determined depending on personal taste, economic or other considerations.

Ceramic tile

One of the most suitable materials for decorating garage walls is ceramic tiles. It has all the necessary performance characteristics.

  • Strength. To decorate the walls of the garage, you can use tiles intended for flooring. It has the best strength characteristics.
  • Durability. This means the material is resistant not only to temperature changes and moisture, but also to contact with chemicals.
  • Easy to care for. Ceramic tiles are easy to clean and are not afraid of moisture, which makes caring for them quite simple.
  • Versatility. Thanks to the abundance of colors, you can choose the right tile for any room.

It is also worth saying a few words that this material is quite expensive. This is worth considering. In addition, if you do not have the necessary skills for installing tiles on walls, you will have to turn to the services of specialists, which also involves certain costs. Although, if you wish, you can master the technology in a few days.

Lining

The lining is easy to install and has an attractive appearance. Installation takes place on top of a pre-installed sheathing, which allows you to lay an additional layer of heat and vapor barrier. However, it is worth considering that this material requires additional processing, as it is sensitive to moisture and prone to absorbing substances.

Note! If the lining boards are treated with special compounds, then this material becomes quite suitable for covering walls in a garage.

Plastic panels

When thinking about how to cover the walls in the garage, we must not forget about plastic panels. They are easy to install and subsequently maintain, and they have an attractive appearance. They are resistant to moisture and chemicals, and are not afraid of temperature fluctuations.

Note! Plastic panels have low mechanical strength, which must be taken into account when considering this material as wall decoration in the garage.

Wooden panels

Another material used for finishing garage walls is chipboard and fiberboard panels. They are easy to install and have good performance characteristics. In this case, as in the case of lining and other wood-based materials, they require additional processing special compounds that prevent contamination or moisture absorption.

To conclude the topic, it can be noted that there are quite a large number of materials for finishing a garage. You need to decide what is best to cover the walls yourself. Everyone's tastes, financial capabilities and basic installation skills are different. But, as a preparation option, you can use photo and video materials presented for review on the Internet.

Video

This video will tell you about plastering walls in a garage:

The cladding of the garage facade is not so much aesthetic as practical significance. Although this is not a living space, it is unheated.
In addition to the fact that there is a car in it, the owner also spends a lot of time there, doing, for example, repairs. Therefore, the garage needs to be properly insulated, and if possible, do it from the outside.
What options for insulated cladding are best to use, and how to do the work yourself? The instructions, as well as the video in our article, will give you comprehensive answers to these questions.

Garage wall cladding with outside, is carried out only in cases where it is a separate building facing the street. Garage cooperatives do not count - all the finishing is done from the inside, since they, in fact, do not have external walls.
So:

  • When deciding on the choice of exterior finishing option for the garage, you need to focus on how the facade of the house, as well as other buildings on the site, is faced. If the garage is just being built, the easiest way is to build its walls from facing bricks, or ceramic blocks.
  • To make the walls warm, they use a method called well masonry. That is, the brick is laid in such a way that cavities-wells are formed inside the masonry, which are filled with expanded clay or other bulk insulation.
    This can be polystyrene chips, expanded vermiculite, sawdust and even penoizol. The photo below schematically shows one of the options for such masonry.

  • What is most valuable about this type of masonry is that not only will the issue of façade cladding be resolved - interior decoration you won't need it either. It will be enough to clean the surface well, decorate the seams and cover the surface of the masonry with a water repellent.
  • If you decide to do the well laying yourself, watch the video and try to get a master class from a specialist. After all, the outer and inner parts of such a wall must be rigidly connected to each other.
    Theoretically, brick lining a garage that is not under construction, but is already in use, can also be done. But in practice, this is very labor-intensive, and the price will be such that it will be easier to build new garage, than to veneer the old one.

  • It is better to sheathe finished walls frame method, which we will talk about later, or line it with thermal panels to look like brick or stone, and your garage will look as solid as in the example above. They themselves are a heat-insulating material, and there is no need to additionally insulate the walls.
    If the surface of the walls is smooth, you won’t even need lathing for such cladding - you can mount them directly to the wall.
  • Thermal panels have embedded parts through which holes for fasteners are drilled. Free cavities are filled polyurethane foam, and at the final stage, the joints are grouted, as is done with tiles.
    But this type of facing material cannot be called cheap; they cost at least 1,900 rubles. per m2. Perhaps you will prefer more affordable options for cladding your garage.

To make it easier for you to choose, we will offer a table with an overview of materials suitable for cladding garage walls. What is important is that all these options can be used not only for facade cladding, but also for interior decoration.

Type of materialBrief characteristicsapproximate cost

Corrugated sheeting is a steel sheet that is given a specific configuration using cold pressing. The profile can have a sinusoidal or trapezoidal bend shape, and different heights, as well as zinc or polymer coating. The number of bends on one sheet depends on the size of the corrugation.The sizes of sheets of one brand or another vary slightly, but on average it is 1150 * 515 mm. Prices for profiled sheets start from 130 rubles. per m2.

Siding consists of long rectangular panels with interlocking joints. This type of material is very diverse: in addition aluminum panels, there is vinyl, wood, and fiber cement siding.
  • The front surface of the siding can be painted, have acrylic coating, imitate natural materials. Thanks to this, wall cladding in the garage can also be done using siding.
The sizes of panels vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but not very dramatically. The width of the panel is 200 mm, the length usually varies between 3 and 4 meters. The price starts from 270 rubles. per m2.

Plastic lining is also a long panel, only it has a tongue-and-groove connection rather than a locking one. Light in weight, smooth and resistant to humidity and low temperatures, such panels are an ideal option for cladding garage walls both outside and inside. You just need to choose those options that are intended for outdoor use.Panel price good quality, size 100*10*3000 mm, no less than 120 rubles. a piece.

Wooden clapboard boards can be used for lining the outside of the garage if you have wooden house, or its façade is simply lined with wood.
  • You can always choose a suitable board profile. This cladding looks beautiful, but to its negative qualities may include the need for antiseptic impregnation.
The cost of the lining depends on the class and type of wood, the type of profile and its size. For example, a cedar board measuring 15*90*2750 mm costs 250 rubles. per m.p.

Sandwich panels

This type of cladding panels is a composite multilayer material, consisting of two layers of rigid material and insulation between them. The following can be used as a shell: PVC, moisture-resistant plywood, wood-polymer materials, aluminum, corrugated sheets.
  • The insulation inside is most often polymer, but sometimes mineral wool is also used. Such panels are good for cladding an old garage whose walls need to be given rigidity.
The panel sizes and thickness are completely different for each manufacturer. The cost depends on the type of coating, thickness and type of insulation, and is at least 800 rubles. per m2.

By the way, the plastered garage also looks very good. In this case, for the construction of walls you can use ordinary building brick, which is much cheaper than the front one, and then plaster it beautifully.
It will be quite warm in such a garage, especially if you use it for this purpose. warm plaster. It is a cement-clay mixture with the addition of mineral granules or polymer insulation: vermiculite, perlite, expanded polystyrene.
This finishing can be done both from the facade and inside the garage.

Sheathing with insulation

In order to line the garage with the materials mentioned in the table above, it is necessary to mount a frame to which the lining will be fixed.
To work, you will need a guide profile, which will be attached along the lower perimeter, and a rack profile. Can also be used wooden blocks section 50*50.
So:

  • A frame like the one in the photo below, where there are both longitudinal and transverse belts, is needed when large-format panels are used. This is done so that they can rest and be fixed to the frame in several places.
    For cladding with narrow long panels: siding, wood and plastic lining, transverse belts are not needed. These panels rest on several sheathing belts along their length.

  • The distance between the frame posts is made based on the shape and size of the panels, but usually does not exceed 60 cm. Before proceeding with the installation of the sheathing, the walls are waterproofed.
    If the garage is made of bricks or blocks, coating insulation is better suited, wooden walls usually tightened with a rolled membrane.
  • Any slab material can be used as insulation. If you choose expanded polystyrene, then give preference to a denser, non-flammable option. Its thickness is selected from such considerations that after installation, between the surface of the heat-insulating material and the cladding, a gap of at least 3 cm will form.

  • The insulation is mounted with glue applied in the corners and in the center, and then fixed with special dowels. Since the garage is an unheated room, a vapor barrier layer is generally not needed.
    But, if you use mineral wool, keep in mind that it does not like humidity. It is better to cover the surface of such insulation with plastic film.

When the installation of the frame and its filling is completed, you can proceed directly to the cladding. Each type of material has its own nuances of fastening to the frame and connecting the cladding elements to each other.
In each specific case, you need to watch a video on the topic before work, and your garage will look no worse than the one shown in the picture above.

Every car owner wants his garage to be not only a home for the car, but also a well-equipped workshop. The main association with the word garage is a place where it is not very clean and smells of gasoline. But thanks modern materials The garage can be transformed without putting any effort into it.

Peculiarities

Thanks to proper finishing a garage can be made not only cozy atmosphere, but also to create a room design that will correspond to the direction of its use. This can depend on many factors, such as how many floors the garage will have. It also depends on how far from the house it will be located and whether it is a built-in garage at the bottom of the house, located in basement or a separate building.

The modern market presents a huge opportunity to choose materials for finishing. They can be purchased at any price that suits a person and you can choose the option that is suitable for decorating the room. With the help of selected materials, you can hide all the imperfections, as well as transform the place for the car beyond recognition.

When choosing a cladding, you should consider which surface this or that material is suitable for.

Garage floors must be able to withstand very heavy loads. Need to pay Special attention for wall decoration. It must withstand any impact and also be resistant to different influences. The ceiling lining must be made of a material that is resistant to evaporation.

You also need to pay attention to what the materials themselves should be like. The finishing of the room must be fire-resistant. After all, there are flammable substances in the garage and there is a risk of fire. It is also necessary that the cladding is resistant to chemical elements. It should not be sensitive to humidity or sudden temperature changes, especially if the room is not heated. Finishing materials must have long term operation, as well as aesthetic appearance.

Materials

There are many materials that can be used to decorate a garage. Sheathing can be done with corrugated sheets, clapboard, plasterboard, stone. To determine which one will suit best Thus, it is necessary to consider them in more detail.

Concrete

Concrete is most often used for such premises. After all, it holds up better than others on walls made of brick or aerated concrete. It has great strength, is not afraid of fire, and if necessary, repair work can be easily carried out on a concrete surface.

But like any material, concrete has disadvantages. Its installation is a labor-intensive job that involves preparing the solution as well as applying it. You must have certain skills in finishing works. Their absence can lead to cracking of the surface or even spalling of the concrete. The second disadvantage is that this process is considered a dirty job, so there will be a lot of cleanup at the end, which not everyone wants to deal with.

Drywall

The interior decoration of a garage can be done using plasterboard. To attach it, you can use special glue. If the surfaces have unevenness or you need to insulate the room, you can attach it using metal frame. However, this option will take up some space and the room will decrease in size. For a garage, it is better to take fire-resistant and moisture-resistant plasterboard, which has a gray-green color and red markings.

GKLVO has many advantages. These include relatively little weight, lightness installation work, small price. Compared to other materials, the room remains clean while finishing with sheets, and upon completion there is no need to spend a lot of time cleaning. The material also absorbs moisture well. If necessary, you can make partitions from it, mounted using an iron frame, and organize a workshop or small warehouse.

Its surface can be finished with any material. Drywall is suitable for finishing both walls and ceilings.

Ceramic tile

This material is ideal for the garage. After all, high-quality tiles are water-resistant and fire-resistant. It makes the room neat due to the fact that it can be washed using any means and is cleaned in just a couple of minutes.

If the tiles are laid correctly, they will withstand any load and will last a long time.

It is better to do the cladding with porcelain stoneware or clinker tiles, which have greater strength. The disadvantage is that it has a huge weight and a high price.

Panels

Covering a room with clapboard is very popular. It may consist made from natural wood. Surfaces can also be finished using PVC panels or OSB sheets . This material is easy to install. If we consider wooden panels, they also have many advantages. Advantages include long service life, frost resistance, environmental friendliness, big choice colors.

However, it cannot be done without drawbacks. Wooden panels are susceptible to insect attacks, are highly flammable, and also susceptible to mold, and also have a high price.

The advantages of plastic panels include such qualities as light weight, the ability to withstand temperature changes, and the ability to carry out installation work with your own hands without the involvement of specialists. Also such panels have low price and a large selection of colors.

The disadvantages are that they are fire hazardous and very fragile.

OSB

OSB sheets consist of layers wood shavings, which is large in size. Tree resins from pine needles or formaldehyde are used for binding.

Sheets are divided into several types. OSB-3 is of high quality and has high moisture resistance. However OSB-4 is considered more durable, moreover, it can be used for internal and exterior finishing. It is not afraid of temperature changes, has a long service life, good sound insulation. However, it is also highly flammable.

Modular covering

Absolutely the new kind finishing material - plates consisting of PVC or rubber. They can be laid not only in the garage, but also on the area adjacent to it.

Modular boards have many positive feedback. They can withstand any, even very low temperatures, easy to install, have high strength. Installation is carried out using special glue.

PVC panels have a rough surface, so using them it is impossible to slip even on a wet floor.

Siding

Most often, this material is used to decorate the exterior of a brick room. Covering with siding gives even an old building beauty and attractiveness. However, recently it has begun to be used for interior decoration of garages, because it has many advantages.

First of all, I am glad that it is fireproof, durable and relatively inexpensive.

Stone

Often natural or fake diamond. This finish looks very beautiful, and is not afraid of weather conditions, humidity, or fire. However, its price is too high.

Floor installation

Very often people need a garage only to store their car, and therefore the presence of an inspection hole is not necessary. Then, when laying the floor, you can simply make a screed. This is not a very complicated process, and anyone can do everything with their own hands.

For this first of all, you need to level the ground with sand and crushed stone. Then a layer of waterproofing layer is laid down. Roofing material is suitable for these purposes. It must be overlapped so that the moisture of the concrete solution cannot escape into the ground. On top of the roofing felt you can put reinforcing mesh for a stronger tie.

The next step is the installation of beacons, which is done according to the level. This will allow you to do flooring smooth. Then a concrete solution is prepared and poured onto the floor. Its components are very simple and widely available. This is normal sand, cement and crushed stone, the proportions of which are 2: 1: 3 respectively. Everything is filled with water to create a solution of medium thickness. To make the work easier, you can use a concrete mixer.

Filling must be done in one step so that the floor does not have cracks and is solid. The screed must be at least ten centimeters thick. Upon completion, you need to level the surface well using building level.The drying process can take up to one month.

After this time, you can begin finishing the concrete. Moisture-resistant paint or marble chips are suitable for this. The ideal coating would be ceramic, paving or clinker tiles that can withstand any load. Before laying it, it is necessary to process concrete covering primer, which does not allow moisture to be absorbed from the glue, and only then proceed to laying the tiles.

If the floor requires insulation, it is necessary to make a flooring from boards. To do this, wooden logs are laid on top of the concrete. The space formed between them must be filled with expanded clay or polystyrene. If the garage has a basement or cellar, then pour bulk insulation, and a reinforcing mesh is placed on top. This is done for additional insulation basement ceiling.

There is also a self-leveling floor. It is a very durable coating and is in no way inferior to concrete. The main advantage is a completely flat surface. Its only drawback is its high cost. Therefore, most still prefer a concrete surface.

Wall decoration

Sheathing garage walls is a more labor-intensive job than laying flooring. To finish them, you can use materials such as drywall, tiles, OSB, lining, and plaster.

The most affordable option considered plastering walls. After all, with its help you can not only level surfaces, but also protect them from fire or temperature changes. This type of finishing suitable for walls made from foam blocks or aerated concrete.

In order to make the plaster surface smoother, it is necessary to place beacons. However, this process is very labor-intensive and requires additional skills to operate.

There is another option - finishing ceramic tiles . Its main advantage is strength. Also, such material is not afraid of mold, which often appears on the walls after a couple of years.

When starting finishing, you need to check that the wall surfaces are smooth. If not, then you need to plaster or cover them tile adhesive and after that start laying the tiles.

A more common method of finishing walls is plasterboard or lining. To implement this, you need to select a sheathing, which can be either wooden or metal. If it's wooden, then Before installation work, the wood must be treated with an antiseptic. This is done to protect the frame from rot and rodents.

Then sheets of one material or another are separately attached to it. Insulation is placed between the grating slats in the free space. You can use mineral wool or polystyrene foam. However the thickness of the insulation should not exceed the thickness of the slats.

The next stage is laying a vapor barrier. It can be foil or regular polyethylene film. Then the installation of drywall or lining is carried out. The first material is attached using self-tapping screws, and the lining is fastened using the tongue-and-groove method.

Ceiling

The finishing of the garage is completed with ceiling cladding. There is practically no physical influence on its surface, so any finishing materials are suitable. They can be the same as for walls.

When using lining or plasterboard, you need to take care of good waterproofing of the ceiling, without which the materials can collapse, and also make thoughtful insulation.

If the ceiling is made of wood, then you need to use waterproofing film, which is easy to install and also inexpensive. For concrete ceiling A special moisture-resistant plaster is suitable. After this, insulation is selected that will not only make the garage room warmer, but will also prevent condensation from forming inside. This will keep the machine, as well as the tools in the room, in good condition.

The best way Styrofoam is suitable for this. It is moisture resistant and also compared to mineral wool costs less. However, such material is afraid sun rays, and is also highly flammable. The cheapest type of insulation will be a solution consisting of straw and clay. He quickly lays down and is not afraid of fire. The only downside is that rodents like it too much.

If there is no need for insulation, then you can simply cover it with any panels.

External skin

There are many options for cladding the facade of a garage. The most common are siding, wooden lining, sandwich panels. Also, for finishing the outside, a method such as jointing is often used. He is one of inexpensive options. For contrast you can use different colors mixtures. This method adds strength to the brickwork.

You can also decorate the garage with plaster. It will not cost very much, but if it is not visible from the inside, then from the outside, on the contrary, everyone will look at this “art”. Therefore, plastering needs to be done beautifully and efficiently. If a person does not have experience, then it is necessary to turn to specialists.

With this type of finishing, you also need to start insulating the walls, in this case it’s called wet facade. To do this, insulation is glued to the walls, and a reinforcing mesh is attached on top of it using a polymer cement mortar. And only then is finishing done decorative or facade plaster. The last step is coloring.

Walls covered with siding will look great. In this case, you can not only select the right color scheme, but also protect the premises from negative impact. After all, it does not crack, does not become moldy, is not afraid of bad weather conditions and is easy to install, so you can do the finishing yourself.

Also today often used for the construction of garages frame walls . Their structure already contains insulation, so additional thermal insulation no walls needed. The thickness of such walls should be approximately twelve centimeters.

However, if you plan to build a second floor, then you need to make the walls up to sixteen centimeters.

To install such walls, you need to mount starting beams on the base of the plinth, which will form the basis of the frame. Before this, it is necessary to lay waterproofing on the surface of the base. Then you need to attach the beams to the concrete using anchors at a distance of one to one and a half meters.

Then the installation of the remaining frame elements is done, with all wooden surfaces must be treated with a special compound. After completing the installation work, you can begin cladding the outer side, which must be made with a gap for ventilation.

The cladding can also be made with wooden lining. This material is environmentally friendly, however it must be constantly treated with antiseptics to ensure it remains durable and of high quality. And this will not be very economical.

Another expensive option is faux finish or natural stone . This facade looks very beautiful, plus it is not afraid of any external influence.

When starting to decorate your garage, you need to think through everything in advance. This includes external and internal wall decoration, as well as drainage and ventilation. To prevent water from rain and snow from stagnating on the roof, it is necessary to make it with a slope and attach gutters so that water does not flow down the walls.

Many owners of their cars have a garage. For them, a garage is not only a place where a car is stored, where it can be repaired if the need arises. Everything is much more interesting - this is a special (or even a favorite place) where you can spend time, gather with friends, do certain things. As they say, men will understand. Therefore, decorating the inside of the garage is a very important topic. Not only the aesthetic component is important here - the cladding must be practical.

The interior decoration of the garage should be such that the room is warm and always dry. Especially if there is a basement where canned goods and vegetables are usually stored. In addition, if the floor in the garage is made of high quality, the walls inside the garage are finished professionally - the cost of the entire structure increases significantly. That is, the issue with the cladding is not only for your comfort and for protecting the car - here you need to take into account future prospects.

About the ceiling and roof

We will definitely take on the floor and walls again, but first let’s talk about something else. Decorating the inside of a garage usually begins with the ceiling surface. This is where the water will drip if it rains well outside.

To protect the internal space from destruction, negative influence moisture, to protect the entire cladding and the car, first think about waterproofing. It needs to be done efficiently.

Let's talk in more detail:

  • Waterproofing is important especially for those garages that have flat roof. And for brick garages, for standard ones concrete structures it has exactly this form (if we talk about typical garage cooperatives);
  • It is logical that if the owner made a separate garage for himself on the territory of his own household, in which the pitched roof, during roofing works waterproofing work was also carried out;
  • If the roof is flat, moisture can stagnate here. Because of this phenomenon, the owner will have to frequently replace roofing roll materials(these are used most often).
To ensure that there are no leaks inside, when finishing the inside of the garage, the master must take additional measures. And it is quite possible to do this - not only in a structure that is under construction, but also in a building that has already been built.
  • How to cover the inside of the garage so that there are no problems with moisture? You can always use a special waterproofing compound that is designed to interact with the seams;
  • Such compounds are used to treat joints on floor slabs, those places where these elements adjoin the walls. When applying the composition, the adjacent surface is also covered (100-150 mm is sufficient);
  • After this, the joints should be glued with fiberglass reinforcing tape;
  • Now all ceiling surface in the garage should be treated with a penetrating primer, which is universal. If necessary, this composition can also be treated concrete base floor or wall;
  • This waterproofing needs to be done only once - it will be enough for the entire period while the building is in operation;
  • The composition itself can be either dry or completely prepared for use. In the first case, the substance is diluted with water - before doing this, you must carefully read the instructions, where everything is explained in detail.

Dry waterproofing costs a little less. It is recommended to buy this option when its treatment is needed not only for the ceiling, but also for the walls and basement - the interior decoration of the garage will immediately be carried out over a large area.
  1. Any decorative coating you can easily achieve through such waterproofing. In cases where there is no need to insulate the ceiling, you can always use ordinary panels for cladding. Even simple tiles polystyrene is perfect here. And if you have the means, you can use ceramics (it costs a little more);
  2. Today there are options when ceramic tiles are used not only for covering the ceiling, but also for finishing the floor and walls. Concrete slabs are usually smooth, so applying this finishing material will be easy;
  3. Ceilings in garages are often painted (we already wrote about this) and plastered.
If the ceiling requires insulation, it is better to choose one or another finishing method, which is frame. It is convenient to place the insulation in the mesh of the sheathing - this is clear to everyone. In addition, in garages, both walls and ceilings are usually sheathed the same way.

Wall cladding in garage

Often, garage owners limit themselves to only rough cladding of the walls in a given room. Plastering is the most popular type of finishing here.

If you know how to apply plaster to a surface, then everything is quite simple - you just need to buy a ready-made dry plaster mixture.

It is also worth purchasing all the tools that may be required to apply this substance.

An important point - if you are applying plaster to the wall in a particular room that is not heated (and a garage is usually just that), you should choose a composition with cement base. Gypsum-based mixtures are usually used in residential premises, but it is better not to use them for the garage.

Garage walls and plaster

What more can be said about how to decorate the inside of a garage with plaster?

It's all like this here:

  • In the case when the master performs for the first time plastering work, it is better to prepare carefully. For example, you can watch a video where a specialist explains the rules for applying the composition to the surface.

  • In general, a garage can be an excellent “simulator” - a facility where you can practice finishing and repair work before you start renovating a house or apartment;
  • The plaster composition is usually applied in two layers. The master must wait until the previous one has dried before applying the next one. After that comes priming, and then the finishing of the garage inside;
  • In a situation where painting the walls is not part of your plans, but you want to get beautiful finish– think about using decorative plaster;
  • Facade plaster is the same material that professionals recommend when they are asked how to line a garage from the inside. As a filler for these solutions, crumbs are used, which are made from different stones - marble, granite, quartz or sandstone (not the entire list).

The filler can be purchased separately and added to the batch - the same one that is prepared specifically for creating a finishing layer on the walls in the garage.

Sheathing using a frame

For ceilings and walls, the procedure for performing this work will be exactly the same. Choose frame finishing in cases where insulation is required. The material that you will use for the ceiling and walls does not have to be the same - it depends on the personal preferences of the owner.

A about the lining procedure itself we can say the following:

  • By this point, the waterproofing is usually already installed. That is, the master can safely take on the construction of the frame. You can easily do this work with your own hands - even if you have no experience. However, it is better to entrust the matter to specialists - the aesthetics of the entire finish (and not only) will depend on how well the frame was built.
Regardless of what facing material in the garage you are going to mount, for building a frame you can use it as metallic profile, and timber timber.
  • When choosing wood for making a frame, the bars should be lubricated with antiseptics before work - so that the material is protected both from putrefactive reactions and from the attention of various rodents;
  • The negative side of wooden sheathing is that the timber is not always smooth;
  • Let's assume the wall is made of brick. In this case, leveling the sheathing will not be easy at all - the craftsman will need to place wedges under each of the dowels. It is much easier to install an aluminum profile;
  • The next step, when the interior decoration of the garage is performed: insulation is placed into the cavity of the frame. Usually, thermal insulation material buy in advance - so that by the time you do the work, its width will be known (the lathing is made taking this indicator into account);
  • The distance between the bars is slightly less than the width of the insulation (15-20 mm). This approach is used specifically so that the insulation fits tightly into the cell;
  • To insulate ceilings and walls, it is most convenient to use tile insulation rather than roll insulation. But it is not recommended to choose polystyrene foam for such a task; this material high degree flammability (and in a garage there is always a danger of fire). It is much more effective to use expanded polystyrene, penoizol or simply glass wool.

  • When the insulation has been laid, foil is usually glued to its surface (you can also limit yourself to a simple polyethylene film). Due to such a primitive vapor barrier, condensation will not collect on the insulation. And after all the procedures described above, the interior of the garage is directly finished;
  • Is it possible to decorate the inside of a garage with particle boards or clapboard? Of course, these materials are very popular for such work. They differ from plastic panels in that they require additional finishing - this includes painting, and treatment with various fire retardants and antiseptics;
  • If you think about this in advance, then any owner will understand: working with plastic finishing materials is much easier. But it also has its drawbacks. Namely: high fragility. One awkward movement (or something bounces off something - this can easily happen in a garage) - and the panel will be broken. So many owners, when asked how to decorate the inside of a garage, choose aluminum siding panels.

Not every person looks at their garage and its interior decoration from a practical point of view. Some people also think about decor, because a beautifully decorated space pleases the eye and inspires.

Garage floor - device

When the garage is out inspection hole, there is no basement - the floor here is most likely simple compacted soil. In this situation, the first step is to make a concrete screed.

Screed arrangement

Concrete screed is done like this:

  • First, the base is leveled horizontally as much as possible. To do this, sand and small crushed stone are poured into the right places. Before the procedure, you should set the beacons to the level, tighten the cord;
  • You can always make the backfill layer a little thicker - if you need to raise the base of the floor in the garage;
  • When sand cushion laid, the interior decoration of the garage continues in next order: roofing felt is laid on it with an overlap - slightly gripping the wall at the same time. This material will not give moisture contained in concrete mortar, absorb into the soil.

Now a reinforcing metal mesh is placed on the base - the structure will be more durable due to such an element.
  • Today you can easily buy M300 concrete - ready-made. But you can also do the kneading yourself – there’s nothing complicated about it. The main thing is to have on hand the required grade of cement, sand and crushed stone, the fraction of which is 7-9 mm;
  • Usually the following proportions are maintained: two parts sand, one part cement, three parts crushed stone;
  • Add water until the desired consistency is achieved - it should be convenient for the master to lay the solution and compact it. Concrete is poured in strips - they do this between the lighthouses. Experienced builders advise carrying out such work without any interruptions - the finishing of the garage inside will turn out great;
  • As a result, your concrete screed on the floor in the garage it should be at least 10 cm. And when it sets, it is customary to smooth the surface very carefully. It is left in this form for at least 29 days - so that the screed gains the necessary strength.

Work related to concreting the floor is usually combined with the implementation of a blind area - it is done along the outer perimeter of the garage. It is necessary to drain storm water from the walls.

When the screed is ready

  • It would seem that the screed is ready - that’s quite enough. Many people will say so. But it's not that simple. The fact is that such material absorbs moisture. If oil spills, for example, the surface will be stained. Fortunately, there are ways by which a concrete surface can be given the proper appearance;
  • Such options definitely include a screed made of marble chips. Separately, you can easily buy the ingredients from which you can make this solution. Here you need the following: M400 - cement, fine crumbs, polyurethane and acrylic plasticizers - you can’t live without them.

  • The solution will be elastic precisely thanks to the plasticizer - it will also make the surface of your screed smooth. On the packaging you will find out how much of the ingredient needs to be added to the solution. Other components are added in the following proportions: 1 part cement, 3 parts crumbs, ½ part water;
  • Concrete base – a good option in case you plan to lay tiles. The main thing is to first treat the screed with a primer so that the concrete adhesive solution could not absorb moisture;
  • Clinker tiles are perfect solution for garage floor. But such material is not cheap.
The strength of porcelain stoneware is approximately the same as that of linker - but it costs much less. Decorating the inside of the garage with such material is a worthy choice.
  1. Some people prefer to do wood flooring (and also insulate the garage floor). If you have such plans, you need to install wooden joists on top of the screed. And the space between them is usually filled with polystyrene granules or expanded clay;
  2. Bulk insulation can always be filled with cement mortar and reinforced mesh laid on top. You can also lay tiles over this layer of thermal insulation without any problems. Typically, this option is chosen when the garage has a basement - and its ceiling needs insulation.

That's all - as you can personally see, there is nothing impossible in such a matter as decorating the inside of a garage with your own hands. Everyone can do it if they want. If you listen to our recommendations, your goal will be achieved!
