The design of a hallway in a private house is not very different from the organization of the entrance area in an apartment - especially if the apartment is large. Almost all the recommendations that humanity has suffered about the interior of a hallway in the city are also applicable outside the city. However, life on earth has its own nuances, which should be taken into account at the stage of planning a house. Did not have time? No problem. Decorating a hallway is akin to self-education - it’s never too late to do it.

Hallway interiors country houses They are very different: in some places they are luxurious rooms with baroque-style armchairs, and in others they are functional nooks without pretensions to aesthetics. The point here is not only about the wealth of the owners, but also about the attitude: for some this is already a home, but for others it is not yet.

Layout: where does the interior of the hallway in the house begin?
The main complaint of apartment owners about the standard hallway is “it’s small.” Theoretically, in a private house there should not be such a problem: you can allocate at least 15, at least 30 “squares” to the entrance area. Is it really necessary? The answer to this question depends on the functionality that you intend to add to it.

A door usually leads from it to a warm garage, pantry, dressing room, technical room of the boiler room, or simply a compartment for meters and video surveillance. From the hall there are other doors and other exits - to the guest toilet, to the stairs, to the premises of the first floor. All this, formally speaking, is a hallway - and with such a load it can be 50 square meters.

The distribution of functions between adjacent rooms sometimes introduces some confusion into the very concept of a hallway. In particular, the entrance area is often called a vestibule, although the vestibule is a climatic gateway that cuts off cold air from the hallway. It is often customary to leave outerwear and shoes in it. In this case, the hallway can look like a hall or merge with the living room. But more often than not, the entrance area (hallway) still looks like a place where people undress and take off their shoes. We will focus on this option.

So, the area of an ideal hallway in a private house should take into account the placement of each of the zones you need, the number of household members and the width of the passages (from 90 cm in the corridor to 120 cm in a double-sided dressing room).

Some of the functional areas that you planned to organize around the front hallway can be moved to the rear entrance. For example, put a cabinet there for gardening tools, store clothes for gardening, strollers, etc. Think about where it would be more convenient for you to go out for a walk with the dog, load sports equipment into the car, etc. It’s sad to have to run through the whole house with things under the reproachful glances of your household.

There is a strong opinion that the hallway should be decorated in the same style as the main rooms of the house. So, indeed, it is more difficult to miss: if the entire building is decorated in the spirit of English classics, cold minimalism in the entrance area will look strange.

But the hallway is still not quite a house, not a living space. Its “technical” status allows for irony, eclecticism, and experimental solutions. For example, a huge clock, which would look too frivolous in an English living room, will not surprise anyone in the hallway.
