Modern eco-design in the interior: general rules and examples of implementation. Being closer to nature while staying in the city: the essence of eco-design in the interior General principles of eco-design

The development of environmental design and architecture today is becoming an urgent need not only for specialists, but also for each of us. No one denies that the connection between a person’s physical and mental health and the visually perceived environment is extremely strong.

On the one hand, the appearance ecodesign became a response to the sharp deterioration in the quality of the human environment, but to a greater extent the resort to techniques environmental design and architecture occurred due to the need to green consumption.

General principles of ecodesign

Direction to design and architecture, focusing on environmental protection and comfortable, harmonious human existence in this environment. Dedicated Special attention not only the beauty and ease of use of the design “object,” but also the characteristics of the materials used are taken into account - both during design and during manufacturing, use and disposal.

Environmentally friendly products are gaining more and more popularity around the world. clean materials, as well as unique and at the same time easily applicable in everyday life methods of energy production (wind, solar generators).

Basic requirements of ecodesign:

* safety in using the product;
* no harm to health;
* minimizing noise, emissions, radiation, vibration;
* simplicity and safety of disposal,
* the possibility of reusing materials with minimal environmental damage;
* significant savings customer funds in the future.

This is where the principles of ecodesign come from:

* saving resources in design, manufacturing, use and disposal,
* increased attention to the origin of materials;
* taking into account many aspects, starting with environmental protection by the manufacturer (supplier) and ending with respect for the rights of workers in enterprises, humane treatment of animals, correct attitude towards suppliers.

Ecodesign standards

Today, special methods and standards have been developed that allow for a comprehensive analysis of all these aspects. BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is widely known - one of the most famous and widespread assessment methods environmental efficiency buildings. BREEAM defines standards for sustainable design and construction, and also provides the opportunity to compare various buildings according to the level of their impact on the environment. BREEAM allows customers, developers, designers and all participants in the construction industry:

* create a reputation in the real estate market thanks to construction eco-efficient buildings;
* guarantee the use of the best eco-efficient practices during construction and operation;
* stimulate the search for new, innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact;
* form an evaluation criterion that exceeds state-regulated standards;
* reduce operating costs, improve the working and living atmosphere;
* demonstrate progressive views on social and environmental development.
The BREEAM standard allows developers and designers to clearly demonstrate the benefits of using eco-efficient technologies to its partners and customers. BREEAM:

* uses a simple, visual rating system based on Scientific research and practical experience
* has a positive impact on the design, construction and operation of the building
* establishes and maintains a sustainable technical standard that guarantees high quality and certification.

Another rating system is American, called The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED (translated into Russian as “ leadership in energy and environmentally friendly design"). Certification system green house building LEED is recognized throughout the world, compliance with its standards is the third most important in quality control of design and construction.

LEED standards are designed specifically to promote building that is more environmentally friendly. They monitor the implementation of efficient use of energy and water, reduction of CO2 emissions, ensuring the most suitable indoor climate, managing resources and monitoring the impact of human activities on their condition.

LEED does not take foreign economies into account well. However, in the USA, where incentive programs are used energy efficient and green technologies through tax incentives or direct subsidies, LEED provides significant economic benefits.

“In Europe, research in this area has been ongoing for about 20 years. However, in many countries, including Russia, government support programs green technologies not yet developed. Therefore, the application of LEED outside the United States, although internationally recognized, is not mandatory. However, having a certificate will allow, for example, to attract large foreign tenants of commercial space, etc.” – says Vadim Kondrashev, architect, head of the ARCHIDO bureau.

Green eco-friendly architecture

Since the mid-1970s, when the Western world became concerned about the conservation of natural resources and environmental problems after another energy crisis, they began to talk about the emergence of the so-called "green architecture". Walls, roofs, and facades began to be turned into gardens, first in countries with a mild climate and short winters: in Southeast Asia and Latin America. Australia and the Mediterranean, and then they began to appear in the landscapes of world capitals.

"Green building" is a bridge that connects nature and man. Such a house is not only attractive in appearance, but also economical: the roof of the house will not allow rainwater to go to waste, and the plants constantly and freely produce oxygen for the people living in the house. Green walls experienced a second wave of popularity at the beginning of the century: offices, museums and private homes began to widely use hanging greenhouse gardens in interior decoration. This has proven to be very beneficial for business - plants that create a pleasant atmosphere relieve stress and increase customer loyalty.

Except "green houses", for ecodesign in relation to architectural solutions characterized, first of all, by the use of natural materials. The apartment and the rooms in it are oriented according to the cardinal directions, according to the wind rose, the location of the rooms is consistent with the size of the windows, depending on the required illumination. Ventilation of premises is planned taking into account their area, and selection heating devices consistent with the area of the premises and window openings.

Eco-friendly building materials

Eco-friendly building materials– those whose use does not cause harm environment. For example, these are stone and wood - they are safe for health and create a favorable microclimate in the room. Wooden surfaces are best used in combination with natural stone both when finishing walls and when finishing floors and ceilings. By the way, today it is very popular eco-friendly bathroom design, which involves abandoning plastic shower cabins, a shower that pours directly from the ceiling (tropical rain), wooden consoles, a bathtub made of natural stone, which retains heat much longer than composite plastic and ceramics.

When painting surfaces, it is better to choose paints with a low content of volatile organic substances. Wallpaper - paper or made of bamboo or reed. By the way, an indispensable attribute eco-interior is the most natural technique - the use of fresh flowers.

In order to save energy, it is necessary to improve the thermal insulation of the roof and walls - this will reduce energy consumption, and at the same time heating costs. One of the most environmentally friendly materials Stone (mineral) wool is considered for thermal insulation. Install a programmable thermostat - this device changes the temperature in the room according to a schedule, where the desired value is set for every hour of every day of the week (lowers the temperature at night or during the absence of the owners).

Already become familiar energy-saving lamps consume 70–80% less energy than incandescent lamps. To reduce energy consumption, modern lamps are increasingly using LEDs and low-power halogen bulbs.

It is better to heat a fireplace or stove not with ordinary wood, but with fuel pellets. This environmentally friendly biofuel is called pellets and is obtained from peat, wood waste and waste Agriculture; When they burn, one and a half times more heat is released.

To reduce water consumption, you need to install several inexpensive and effective devices, such as spray heads for showers and faucets, dual flush toilets, a rainwater tank (which is then used in the toilet or for watering flowers and trees in the garden), water recycling systems. use of domestic wastewater.

Domestic developments in eco-design

In Russia, an example of modern eco-design is the Eco-TEREM project, which is represented by the St. Petersburg design bureau Archido and its owner Vadim Kondrashev. This project entered the second round of the all-Russian competition for residential areas in the Technopark area of the Skolkovo innovation city.

Vadim Kondrashev took as a basis the abstract silhouette of the architectural ensemble of the Kizhi churchyard of the 18th-19th centuries. This architectural monument, protected by UNESCO, carries a cultural code in which the uniqueness and originality of Russian architecture is expressed in wood.

The materials supported the idea of combining academic knowledge about Russian architecture and ultra-modern hi-tech technologies. Shindel was taken as the main façade material; it has temperature-controlled properties - it is cool in summer and very warm in winter. "Smart glass" in the avant-garde form of window openings adds an ultra-modern aesthetic to the image of the house.

The prototype of the Skolkovo innovation city quarter in the Archido project was Bee hive. The architects took the principle by which the apiaries were arranged as an allegorical basis for the general plan of the quarter. ECO-TEREM organically fits into the natural landscape of the area and the characteristics of the Russian climate. Archido used an ergonomic roof shape, which allows the houses to be placed as close to each other as possible, without creating shadow spots.

Vadim Kondrashev:
- If all people are different, why do we live in the same houses? In the ECO-TEREM project, the idea of anthroposophical architecture is implemented in the silhouette of the houses, their location on the site and appearance. Archido deliberately did not use the techniques of orthogonal architecture - the facades, covered with shingle, have a pentahedron shape. Such non-standard shape buildings makes the internal spaces individual, and this creates a living environment that is designed to positively influence human work and activity. Architects call this a technique of ecopsychology, according to which standardization is reduced to a minimum.

The fashion for environmental friendliness has not been losing ground in almost all areas of our lives for several years now. At her lecture at the HOMI Moscow exhibition, designer and head of the Golden Heads architectural bureau Anastasia Kasparyan spoke about the forms this trend takes in our homes.

Trends in design are taken from the general information field within which we all find ourselves, and this year eco-design clearly rules in it. The desire for environmental friendliness and natural materials set the tone in everything, Anastasia is sure.

Vertical gardening

Greenery spreads from horizontal planes to walls and facades, and this is one of the main eco-design techniques, which, however, is not yet very popular in Russia. In Europe, but here, because of the cold climate, designers prefer to experiment indoors. Phytowalls can be just a decoration, or they can become a more or less blank partition, helping to zone the space.

Branches

Tree branches of ornate shapes can be found in almost any modern interior. They are not used literally, sometimes they are just a reminder, a vaguely similar shape created from a different material, for example, forged.

Tree trunks

Often the interior includes not just branches, but entire tree trunks or parts thereof. A beautifully presented, illuminated wooden texture is already a picture, and, for example, a cut of bark can create a panel that sets the tone for the entire room. In addition, the trunks can be used as narrow tabletops, like in a Moscow apartment.

Wooden beams

An ultra-fashionable decorative element are wooden beams, which we saw in this spacious room and many other places. If it's not part of the building's structure, but an element you're adding as part of a renovation, it's important to keep track of what kind of wood they're made from. Dry wood is best suited: it is more stable and almost does not react to changes in temperature and humidity in the room, which is especially important if the beams are planned to be made in the kitchen or bathroom.

Tree cuts

A round cut, often even with bark, is a very simple, and at the same time very versatile object. They can become a clock, a tray, part of a table or stool.

3D panels from boards

You can make panels from untreated or, conversely, old wood, painting them in a color suitable for the interior. The texture of the wood itself will add coziness to the interior.

Low budget stuff

Ecology is not only natural materials, but also democracy, which is associated with reducing the budget for an item. A wonderful lamp can be made literally from fallen branches collected in the nearest park.

Recycling

In an era of resource scarcity, reusing materials becomes important, and this is often the case with wood. Thus, in the Like Lodka workshop, furniture is made from old boats brought from Indonesia. The unusual texture of old wood is good in itself, and also practical: this is not the first life for the material, and it does not react so sharply to external influences.

Vintage and second hand

When a designer starts working on a project, it often turns out that clients have old things. There’s no point in throwing it away for the sake of the new, fashionable: it turns out much more lively and soulful. But even if you have to assemble the furniture from scratch, there are some things worth looking for on Avito. Sometimes they sell old cabinets and chairs for pennies, which can be revived by repainting or painting. These items will be much more valuable than items from IKEA.

Unexpected materials

Sometimes beautiful things for the interior can be made from scrap materials. It will take a couple of hours and nothing at all to create a lamp from chain-link mesh and clothespins or a chandelier from coffee filters, but the thing will look like an expensive art object.

Not just wood

New technologies make it possible to make things from materials that are unusual for us: basalt, resin, hardened lava. Such furniture is durable and does not react to weather changes - an excellent alternative to plastic and metal garden tables and chairs.

Variability of use

One of the global trends is the desire of object designers for ecology through the variability of use of the same objects. We are talking about multifunctional things, for example, a flower pot, which can serve as a lampshade, a container, and a stand.

Substitution of valuable

There is no shame in replacing or counterfeiting rare, valuable materials. A striking example is designer Nicholas Curl, who proposes to abandon the use of turtle shells and uses its imitation for her art objects.

Domestic manufacturers

Due to the fall in the ruble exchange rate, it has become more difficult to buy things abroad, but the forced turn to local producers also fits well with the general trend towards consuming local products. So, firstly, it is easier to control the process of creating things, and secondly, fewer resources are spent on transporting things.

Caring for nature, resources (the Earth and each individual person) and encouraging creativity - that’s what ecodesign is. “You don’t have to go to a super expensive salon and buy something from an expensive brand. You can just think a little longer. You can always do something unique within a reasonable budget!” - Anastasia Kasparyan is sure.

Ecological design emerged as a response to mass production that was harmful to the environment and insensitive to needs. real person. Globalization, unification and mechanization of everything allowed giant corporations to achieve profit, but standard urban development, objects devoid of individuality, and artificial materials of unknown origin over time began to cause dissatisfaction among consumers. In time - the end of the twentieth century - this coincided with a rethinking of the role of man in the world, and in the wake of the new, “green” philosophy, a new attitude to production appeared: the main principle was “harmony with nature.”

Responsibility to the environment, naturalness and uniqueness have made eco-design a mega-popular trend. Labels “100% Natural”, “eco-friendly”, “green” attract the attention of buyers who care about their health and do not want to participate in polluting the planet. Connecting with nature, and being “green” – conscious and ethical towards nature – has long been considered good taste among city dwellers. But “eco” is not only fashion. Let's look at five principles that make green design a true philosophy.

1. Connection with nature

First and foremost, ecological design helps restore our contact with living nature, because in most cities, and especially in megacities, very little space is allocated to nature. Not everyone has a beloved grandmother left in a remote village among forests and fields, and getting out of the city is a real problem for many. Ecological design strives to provide people with as much opportunity as possible to come into contact with nature without leaving their familiar environment.

For example, in so-called ecological construction, some part of the original landscape is deliberately left untouched: the building is “fitted” into the existing natural form (hill or depression) instead of leveling the ground with excavators or, say, changing the river bed. This approach gives users the opportunity to feel inside the ecosystem; In addition, significant savings are possible through the use of water or wind energy.

In large cities, where there is not enough space for parks and squares, vertical gardens and “ green walls" The city gets the opportunity to breathe deeper.

Green wall

One of the most interesting manifestations of this design is the so-called “green graffiti”, which consists, for example, of mosses, does not require special care and perfectly decorates the city.

We can say that gardens on the roofs of skyscrapers are also an ecological design, because this is another way to approach the problem of space in the city in an inventive and, most importantly, “green” way.

Of course, environmental design is not only the greening of the city, but also attention to the most ordinary objects that surround us in everyday life. Natural materials, natural forms, images of nature - all this makes environmental design a separate aesthetic category. One might add that this is the philosophy of “raw”, unprocessed, close to the original. Simplicity, harmony, naturalness - this is what we can learn from nature, and what is so lacking in modern world full of stress, illusions and unnecessary things.

Ecological design is perfect for this: in the production of “green” things, nothing unnecessary is used, everything corresponds to the harmony that already exists in the world. The buyer only needs to make a choice in favor of the fact that “organic” is made by nature itself long before factories and factories.

We can say that designers rather strive to preserve nature in its original form, to convey it untouched, rather than process or change its properties.

2. Real things

Human perception is structured in such a way that we need constant confirmation that we are surrounded by a real, living world. Programmers and web designers will immediately object that they feel great behind the monitor of their favorite PC and they don’t need any birch leaves. However, the life of even the busiest freelancer is impossible without contact with the material world, and here the needs of our body manifest themselves, which wants to feel the varied texture of the objects we touch. Natural materials are something that human senses have been accustomed to for thousands of years, therefore, whether we notice it or not, the need for the real/natural forces us to choose familiar materials such as wood, stone, natural fabrics.

Modern interior in eco-design:

Modern gadget:

It is not for nothing that so much research has been conducted on the importance of contact with natural materials for children's development: the body learns to recognize the properties of the world through a variety of natural forms. The principles of ecological design are perfect for creating toys: safe materials are left unprocessed, open to contact; natural shapes and colors do not overstimulate; different density, weight, smell and even taste constitute the very diversity that is necessary for harmonious development.

Wooden toys

Of course, an environmental approach is required not only for the manufacture of children's things. For ourselves, we choose quality and durability, and in human culture these properties are firmly entrenched in natural materials such as stone, metal or wood. Often, “naturalness” even becomes something elite, and the item does not have to be made from exotic wood or alloy: perhaps the exoticism here will be rather a negative aspect, because a lot of fuel was spent on transporting it from a distant country, or the material is considered endangered in nature, and this is not environmentally friendly.

The sophistication of simplicity:

Natural materials of high quality with proper care serve for a long time and do not go out of fashion, especially if modern fashion puts health at the forefront. Ecological design allows you to create things that can be passed on by inheritance, as it was many centuries ago, when every item in the house had a certain meaning. Perhaps this is what constitutes the concept of “comfort” - comfort for our sensory organs is contained not so much in the perfection of forms, but in the feeling of authenticity, reliability, or even one might say, predictability of familiar natural materials.

Comfort of natural materials

To promote their products, designers use appropriate visual associations: eco-design is something cozy, “warm”, “real”, made with care for people and does not go out of fashion. It can be noted that often environmental design is a return to something that has existed for a long time, time-tested. Maybe that's why it's so popular?

3. Well forgotten old

Indeed, there is a category of things that will always occupy special place: things with history and meaning, things that reflect cultural tradition, have symbolic meaning. Most likely, such items are made by hand from natural materials and are passed down from generation to generation. Ecological design is attentive to tradition: designers refer to the cultural memory of people, using techniques, materials and patterns characteristic of a particular area.

Designers are creatively reworking the experiences of people who have used local Natural resources economical and efficient.

Elements of traditional Japanese architecture in modern design

One could say that ecological design rethinks the relationship between man and nature through a return to what has already been existing methods respect for nature.

4. Do it yourself

Ecological design strives to keep materials unprocessed, “raw,” and shapes and designs simple and clear, allowing the buyer to personalize things themselves. This approach develops imagination and inspires creative interaction with the subject. Perhaps the most famous manufacturer that works with this theme is IKEA.

Moreover, some things can be repeated ourselves, which allows modern man to move a little away from using everything ready-made and get into contact with real materials, as his ancestors did.

A chair made from what you have on hand

Perhaps this explains the incredible popularity of handicrafts in the modern world of gadgets and digital technologies.

The simplest pieces of wood

5. What will remain after me

Finally, an ecological approach to the design of things solves the problem of waste disposal: an object made from natural material can, in many cases, last longer, and then it can be recycled, “returned to nature,” or used for another purpose.

Famous moss rugs that you can make with your own hands and then “return to nature”

Some items are made with special recycling in mind. For example, biodegradable sneakers from OAT Shoe

Thus, ecological design takes inspiration from nature and rethinks the role of humans in relation to it. Modern man has the opportunity to minimize the harm caused to the environment by production by choosing practical and convenient things made from local materials using long-established technologies. Naturally, no one is forcing you to give up smartphones and cars, but you can try to find a “green” alternative to many of the items that we use every day.

Eco-style in the modern interior of a house or apartment will help create a cozy and comfortable environment. An important advantage of eco-style design is the ability to find a solution for every taste, in a wide range of price categories.

Features of interior design in eco-style

Color solution

The environmental orientation of the style is determined, first of all, by the colors used in finishing. As a rule, these are the shades that we find in nature: sand, earth, grass, coniferous, terracotta, blue, white.

Only “acid” shades and harsh shades are excluded. color combinations. They are inappropriate in such a design - after all, an eco-style interior is conducive to rest and relaxation, everything should contribute to this.

Materials

An eco-style room is finished with natural materials whenever possible, and as an exception – with their imitation. First of all, these are wood, stone, cork, terracotta, ceramics, glass, paper, wicker or rattan panels, mats.

  • The walls can be finished paper wallpaper with images of plant motifs, or laid out with cork panels - both support the eco-style of the room, but the first option is much more budget-friendly. Plaster, painted or whitewashed, is also a completely environmentally friendly wall covering.
  • The ceilings are either covered with whitewash, or wallpapered for painting, or trimmed with wood.
  • Floors are most often made of wood or finished stone tiles or ceramic tiles.

Furniture

For an eco-style apartment, furniture made of wood is suitable, simple in shape, quite massive, and the shape should be as natural as possible - either straight and even rough, or, on the contrary, smooth, imitating the natural curves found in nature. In the first case, the texture of the wood should be as simple as possible, its processing should be minimal. In the second, careful processing and polishing of wood is acceptable. Another suitable look furniture - wicker items made of wicker, rattan, bamboo.

Lighting

As much natural light as possible - here mandatory requirement ecological interior. If it is not enough, you need to add artificial lighting. Lamps in the design can be “inconspicuous” - built-in, creating a luminous flux that complements the light from the windows, as well as decorative - with lampshades made of textiles, rice paper or wicker, with elements in the form of tree branches or animal horns.

Eco-style: decor and interior design

Eco-style does not like clutter of objects; in this sense, it is close to minimalism - after all, in nature there is nothing superfluous. Therefore, decorative items “part-time” usually perform utilitarian functions. For example, wicker baskets and chests in the interior become convenient storage places. Simple homespun rugs add exclusivity and insulate stone floors, while a bright pumpkin becomes a colorful design accent and also serves as a lampshade for a lamp.

Unusual “pictures” made of stone and wood, beautiful pebbles stacked in glass vase, mirror frames with shell designs, river pebbles laid out in the bathroom as a rug - it’s difficult to even list all the possible decorative elements available in eco-style.

An excellent addition to the interior would be a fireplace - both “live” and “bio”, or even its imitation - logs stacked in a suitable niche.

Living greenery is another designer “tool” with which you can enliven the simplest interior or turn an ordinary room into a corner of a tropical forest.

Textile design in eco-style is also distinguished by natural materials and colors. Furniture upholstery material, sofa cushions As a rule, they choose rough, textured ones - linen, jute. Window curtains are often replaced roller blinds or bamboo roller shutters.

The main rule is maintaining a sense of proportion. You cannot oversaturate the interior with decor, no matter how “correct” and appropriate it may seem to the occasion. Otherwise, you may get the opposite result to what you expected.

When decorating a living room in eco-style, it is advisable to use only natural materials; if this is not possible, it is worth replacing them with imitation. Ordinary “plastic” windows do not fit into the style at all, so it is better to make the frames wooden. Budget replacement - wood-like plastic.

You may not be able to maintain the entire design in one style, from furniture to small details. To create a style, sometimes a few expressive details are enough - the main thing is that everything else does not contradict the main idea.

The most intimate room in the house belongs only to you, and its design should be such that you can calmly relax and unwind. Nothing distracting, stressful or irritating to the nervous system.

To design a bedroom in eco-style, a few style-forming elements are enough, as well as natural finishing materials or natural motifs in the decoration of walls and textiles. Wooden bed, woolen rug underfoot, warm beige tones walls, light cotton curtains - the image of an eco-style bedroom is ready.

And again - natural materials in decoration, simple shapes, textile elements... But everything is the same - character traits country style. What is the main difference? Country style allows for the saturation of small elements in the design - a variety of “folk” objects: painted dishes, clay figurines, curtains with frills, decorative pillows, chair covers. In eco-style, such excesses are unacceptable.

In the kitchen, more than in any other room in the house, it is important to follow the principles of minimalism - nothing superfluous! Do you want to emphasize your closeness to nature and make your interior truly unusual? Choose an accent lamp, and at the same time use it as an element dividing the functional areas of the kitchen. The easiest way is to add eco-elements to the decoration, for example, by decorating plain walls with large floral patterns or wooden cuts.

Kitchen furniture is preferable to simple forms; the material can be used not only wood, but also, for example, transparent plastic - it will not “interfere” with the perception of the stylistic “picture”, “dissolving” in space. Such “disappearing” furniture can be supplemented with several “heavy” objects - this will balance the interior.

Minimalism, natural colors, space and lots of light - this is how an eco-style bathroom design should look. Sometimes it’s enough to just choose the right facing material and add color accent with the help of bright towels - and an unforgettable image is ready.

The wooden finish of the bathroom and simple forms of sanitary ware add up to a natural eco-style. Eco-style in bathroom design allows the use of imitating materials. For example, wood-look porcelain tiles will look good in “wet” areas, and they are much more practical than wood, even treated with special compounds. You are also encouraged to use ceramic tiles, and outside wet areas - plaster followed by painting with moisture-resistant paints.

The bathroom is the place where one single detail can make a difference. For example, this could be a unique stone sink or a bathtub in the form of a basin. There are more budget options design - for example, a piece of floor lined with sea pebbles, which at the same time serves as a massage mat. It’s good if the bathroom has a “warm” floor.

The “eco” style has long crossed the thresholds of apartments and made its way outside. The exterior of the house, reflecting the owner’s desire to get as close to nature as possible, is the spirit of the times. And if earlier designers were content with making walls from timber or logs, or laying out their lower parts with “wild” stone, now the task is broader: they try to “fit” the house into the surrounding landscape as much as possible, which sometimes leads to very eccentric design solutions. For example, some houses are literally buried in the ground, or “hanging on branches” in an attempt to merge with nature.

Modern eco-style is not only about environmentally friendly materials, it is also about the possibility of recycling them, causing minimal harm to nature during construction and operation, and creating the most comfortable living environment for humans.

Eco-design is a trend that is used everywhere today. Residents of large cities experience an irreparable longing for living nature, and business successfully takes advantage of this.

Ecodesign, as a large and serious global business trend, is divided into two sub-trends, one of which claims to be global and very serious, and the second – does not pretend to be anything. We are talking about eco-design and its, let’s say, simplified similarity, which we, with your permission, will call “eco-design”.

The main idea of eco-design is to give people not nature, but its illusion. Or even further - the illusion of caring for nature. When you come across an advertising slogan like: “We care about nature, that’s why we...”, then you often understand that this is just beautiful words and playing on fashion trends.

And yet, “eco-design” can help a person quite significantly. If, for example, you simply reduce the noise level in your room or organize leisure areas correctly, placing light that does not depress the psyche, remembering the benefits Green colour and having built an island of harmony in space, you can be considered an eco-designer. Ergonomics, some branches of medicine (hygienics), and the same thing - Feng Shui, study ways to make space environmentally friendly in relation to humans.

Another thing is environmental friendliness not in relation to humans, but to nature itself. In this case, we can talk about ecodesign in the full sense of the word. Humanity has accumulated enough information about what has a bad influence on itself. But it knows nothing about what has a bad influence on the whole natural ecosystems- to the sea and stream, to soils and forests, to the atmosphere, types of plants, insects, and so on. Since small businesses work more with the first incarnation of this trend, the examples given will be more relevant specifically to “eco-design”.

Eco-furniture grown from mushrooms

Science and design have long known about mushroom plastic, mushroom foam, and mushroom plastic. All these are alternatives to environmentally harmful plastic. Agree, it would be surprising if things didn’t soon come to eco-friendly... mushroom furniture. Bioengineers from the American companies Terreform ONE and Genspace decided to explore the possibilities of the mycelium in this capacity.

They built an eco-home called Fab Tree Hab Living House. Its peculiarity is that all the furniture inside consists entirely of mushrooms. The mycelium grows in a special mold. Moldom in in this case This is a form of furniture that is worked out using computing systems, predicting the behavior of mycelium.

The material content of the mold is called Mycoform. It contains mycelium, oat bran, wood chips, gypsum and other agricultural waste contaminated with the fungus Ganoderma Lucidum. Once placed in a warm, humid environment, the fungi begin to fuse organic substrates together using their enzymes. As a result, the waste is transformed into a very durable and stylish biopolymer.

The main advantages of mushroom furniture are low production costs and high environmental friendliness. Mycoform is 100% biodegradable - all furniture can be thrown outside and it will immediately turn into fertilizer useful for the garden. Such furniture can be produced in the most primitive workshop - the energy requirements are minimal.

Terreform ONE's immediate plans include mass production of furniture, namely mushroom benches, sofas, sofas, ottomans in the high-tech style - the design of mushroom furniture is impressive in its progressiveness. What is especially interesting is that the company plans to sell its products not in London and Paris, but in developing countries and third world countries. Thanks to the cheapness of the materials used (read - waste), a mushroom piece of furniture will be available to a buyer with a low income. In addition, the organic polymer is so reliable that it can be used to build interior walls and insulation systems.

Phytowall with automatic control

One of the most promising areas in eco-design business is the production, installation and maintenance of phytowalls. The Finnish company Naava has created a smart plant wall (phytowall) that requires virtually no maintenance. To maximize the benefit of each installation, everyone Maintenance the company decided to trust the artificial intelligence (AI) system. Built-in sensors automatically regulate air flow, water and light supply. When necessary, the AI adapts to satellite data that reports the weather at a specific location.

For the phytowall, the creators selected exclusively hypoallergenic plants. Their roots are located in inorganic material, so they do not require any soil. The wall is installed without any special effort using the online manual.

The buyer can adjust the wall to any design, choose a wall of the color he likes and according to his budget. Developing a phytowall and operating system to it, the company relied on NASA research. The task was this. to create a piece of furniture that would properly supply the room clean air, but did not require care from the owner.

Key holder in the shape of a honeycomb

A characteristic feature of eco-design is the wealth of small elements from nature that can serve as inspiration for the creation of small products. American designers Mallory Pangilinan and Luz Cabrera have developed a wall-mounted key holder unusual design. The product is designed in the form of a honeycomb. Keys are kept in place using gold-plated hex keychains. Thus, when one of the family members comes home, one “honeycomb” seems to be sealed with honey.

In such an unusual way, the authors decided to play with the iconic phrase of the 1950s “Honey, I"m Home!”, which translates as “Honey, I’m home!” At that time, images of the American dream with the participation of a beloved husband were actively promoted in local cinema and the media. who came home to his beloved wife after a long day of work and with this phrase notified her of his arrival.

The word honey in Russian is translated as “dear,” “sweet,” or “darling,” and it is the word most often used by American spouses when addressing each other. In the first meaning, “honey” means honey, which apparently served as the starting point for creating a product in the form of a honeycomb - a home for the bees that make this very honey.

Green houses in Spain

One of the main directions in eco-design is the exterior design of buildings. This direction also has prospects because it is beginning to find support from the authorities.

One of the office buildings in Malaga was created entirely in the spirit of the green concept. It uses ecological energy sources and vegetation as the main element of the façade.

Designed by architect Juan Blazquez, the building is a prototype of the emerging eco-friendly architecture in Spain. Firstly, living vegetation is used in the external appearance and crowns the façade of the building and another external wall. Secondly, it involves environmentally friendly energy sources.

Externally, the building on one side resembles a huge barrel, and on the other, a large iron carriage standing on concrete piles. You can get inside via a staircase that leads to an opening in the bottom. According to plan local authorities, such buildings will soon be mandatory for the offices of all government officials in Malaga. However, it is not reported whether the activities of the officials themselves will become more “environmentally friendly” than they were before.
