Paper cars using origami technique

Required Tools

In order to fold the cars you will need:

  • square sheet of colored paper;
  • scissors.

Instructions – Option 1

Let's take a closer look at how to make a paper machine:

  1. Fold a square sheet of paper into four parts, marking auxiliary lines, and unfold it back.
  2. Fold the bottom of the sheet in half again. Then bend the corners down, creating the wheels of the future car.
  3. Fold the top of the sheet toward you along the center line.
  4. Now bend the workpiece as shown in the figure.
  5. Bend one of the corners of the top of the sheet diagonally, connecting the red dots indicated in the figure.
  6. Turn the workpiece over. A simple car model is ready! (photo_6)
  7. Instructions – Option 2
  8. Now let's look at how to make a three-dimensional paper machine using the origami technique.
  9. To begin, choose a piece of paper of your favorite color, fold it in half and unfold it back.
  10. Now we visually divide each of the resulting halves of the sheet into three equal parts and bend one third from the top and one third from the bottom to the inside of the workpiece.
  11. Bend the corners on four sides as shown in the picture.
  12. Fold the small corners of the triangles' tops inward to give a more rounded shape to the wheels of our paper car craft.
  13. Bend the workpiece in half and place it in front of you, with the wheels facing down.
  14. Bend one of the corners of the workpiece inward, along the dotted line shown in the figure.
  15. Lightly cut the second corner and also bend it inward. This is how we got the windshield and hood of our car model.
  16. The paper machine is ready! All that remains is to draw glass, doors, headlights and other details on it as desired.

Necessary materials

In order to make a volumetric paper machine you will need:

  • Printer;
  • a sheet of office paper;
  • scissors;
  • cardboard;
  • glue;
  • colored pencils, markers or paints.

Instructions

Let's look at how to fold a paper machine step by step:

Schemes of paper cars can also be colored. In this case, there is no need to paint anything. And to get a realistic miniature model of a car, you just need to print the diagram in good resolution on a color printer and fold it according to the instructions. But if the diagram of your machine is black and white or you don’t have a color printer at hand, then the model can be colored with pencils, felt-tip pens or paints. Here you can give free rein to your imagination and add an interesting pattern or make a car in an unusual color.

Making crafts with children always gives positive results. The motor skills of the hands and fingers, the eye, orientation in space, the ability to use scissors, the strength of the hands and fingers, creativity and imagination develop. Children repeat the features of cars, find out what parts they consist of. All this develops the thinking of kids.

Joint activities with parents also have their pleasant side. The child’s speech, ability to distribute responsibilities, and show initiative develops. If parents decide to do handicrafts at home with the boy, then they will not find a better way to spend their time than making a paper car with their own hands. Let's imagine several options for cars made of paper and cardboard.

Racing car

You will need the following materials: a cardboard cylinder (left over from using toilet paper), black and white cardboard, scissors, white and colored paper, felt-tip pen, push pins, PVA glue.

First you need to take a cylinder and cover it with colored paper. We cut out 4 black circles and 4 smaller white circles for future wheels under the stencil. If you want there to be no holes in the front and back, then you need to trace the round part of the cylinder on a sheet of any colored paper. Next, you need to cut out a larger circle, cut the excess in the form of triangles, onto which glue is subsequently applied. Then everything is glued to the end of the cylinder. Before gluing the circles to the back and front of the cylinder, you need to glue or draw the headlights, radiator grille or rear brake lights.

Then all that remains is to assemble all the parts of the paper machine with your own hands. For the driver you need to cut a hole with scissors. The wheels should be pierced in the center with a button and bent inside. At the end of the work you need to draw decorations on colored paper. For example, a number or stripes on the sides, because the created car is a racing car.

Engine

The next option for making a paper machine with your own hands will be a toy steam locomotive. It has two main parts: the driver’s cabin and the trailer. To get started, you need to prepare scissors, PVA glue, corrugated packaging cardboard, colored paper, bolts and nuts, rope and an awl.

On cardboard you need to draw the shape of a steam locomotive and a trailer and 8 identical circles for the wheels. After carefully cutting out the parts, cover them with colored paper. The application should be detailed: a pipe, a driver's window, headlights, wheels, you can also glue square windows to the trailer.

At the end, the parts are assembled. The boy will be interested in working with real tools: using an awl to pierce holes for wheels and ropes, tighten bolts and nuts, and tie the trailer to the train with a rope. Before making paper with his own hands, dad must explain the safety precautions for using scissors and an awl. The train assembled in this way will roll, and the boy will be more interested in playing with it.

Machine according to the scheme

An interesting option would be to make your own paper machine using the diagrams. Models of real cars can be purchased in the store, or you can use the example to draw your own version of the model. Using the sample, we draw all the details in 3D projection. Next, using scissors, carefully cut along the contour and bend the edges of all parts. Glue is applied to the triangular corners, and the machine is assembled.

It should be noted that the wheels will not spin. This craft option is suitable for school-age children, as it requires complex preparatory work. For preschool children, you can offer a simpler purchased version of a typewriter. All they have to do is cut along the contour and glue the edges.

Origami car

This is the most difficult of the proposed options. How to make an origami machine out of paper with your own hands is shown in the diagram. First you need to have some experience in folding sheets. You need to start with a boat or an airplane, and then move on to a typewriter. The only requirement that must be observed when using the origami technique is to carefully and evenly bend the parts, running your finger along the edge of the fold on the table.

The smoother the fold, the neater the final result looks. For the first time, the work must be performed under the guidance of an adult. These could be kindergarten teachers, primary school teachers or parents. Subsequently, understanding how to use the schematic instructions, the child will be able to make a paper car with his own hands. After the craft is completely ready, you can paint it, adding details.

What kid doesn't enjoy a car? The craft is well suited for both games and breathing exercises. And if the child is actively involved in the process of assembling a car from paper, then this activity will be an unobtrusive exercise for him in developing finger motor skills. So let's get started. You need a sheet of paper from a pack of A4 format.

My child and I will make a simple car from a sheet of paper.

We begin the process by longitudinally bending the sheet in half. Let's see the action in the first photo.

On one side, we divide the right angle in half using a fold of paper and unbend it to its original state. And we also copy the action - we bend it at an angle of forty-five degrees, and return it back from the opposite side of the product.

As a result, we created such bends on the sheet that we cannot do without in the future.

We carry out similar actions on the other side of the paper. The same 2 folds appear on the sheet.

After, as shown in the picture above, taking any of the sides (it doesn’t matter which one), we bring both parts to the center, grasping the edges of the workpiece in the middle between the folds.

We proceed by analogy with the other side of the paper sheet. Our efforts were crowned with a creation that resembles arrows pointing in different directions.

The next step is to divide each side in half. We must bend the edges of the paper towards the center, raising our “arrows” on one side.

We carry out the same manipulations symmetrically with the second side and lower the edges of the “arrows”. Check what you receive with the photo.

And you also need to bend the second part of the arrow with the same movement.

The final finishing touches. The ends of the arrows should be bent to create visible fender liners on our car. By bending the back, we will make a paper car spoiler. And our model turned out to be a sports one – a racing car!

The kid can decorate the car and give it a special tuning himself. Multi-colored pencils and markers will also work. Give him complete freedom of imagination. At the end of the creative process, ask to blow on the machine so that it starts and drives. Short-term breathing exercises should not cause dizziness in the child!

There are a million different ways to beat boredom. One of them is, of course, origami.

In our article we will teach you how to fold paper cars in different ways, because this is a very exciting activity for adults and children who will happily learn from you and then enjoy playing with the models they have assembled with their own hands.

All you need for work is colored paper, scissors and glue. And a good mood, of course.

From this article you will learn:

  • How to make a sports car out of paper

    First of all we will create a sports car. To do this, take a rectangular sheet of paper, the sides of which have a ratio of 1 to 7. That is, if one side of the rectangle is 4 cm, then the other will be 28 cm.

    1. Fold the upper right corner and also the upper left corner. Then we unbend them. This way we will get the intended fold points.

    3. Then we bend the protruding triangles again towards the center.

    4. We bend the sides of the sheet and fold the bottom of the paper in the same way as shown in the figure, approximately the same way as we folded the upper part of the rectangle in step 1.

    5. Finally, fold the resulting figure in half and tuck the protruding triangles into the pockets. The sports supercar is ready! Children will be delighted, especially if they can make such a machine themselves. You can also color it and sign it.

    How to make the simplest paper car

    1. Take a square of paper and fold it in half from left to right. We unfold it and fold it in half again, but from the bottom up. This is how we mark the places for folding and the center of the square.

    2. Fold the bottom quarter of the paper up and bend the corners as shown in the figure.

    3. Fold the top half of the paper down, covering the folded triangles.

    4. Bend back the sheet as shown in the picture. The distance from the edge of the paper to the dotted line does not play a special role.

    5. To make a windshield, bend the upper right corner, connecting the red dots highlighted in the picture.

    6. Turn the figure over and the car is ready!

    How to make an origami machine out of paper

    Another easy-to-use option for making a paper typewriter.

    1. Fold a square sheet of paper in half from top to bottom and unbend it.

    2. Fold the top and bottom quarters of the square and bend the corners. We bend the tops of the resulting triangles inward, and fold the entire figure in half.

    3. Along the dotted line, bend the upper right corner into a pocket.

    4. Make a cut on the sheet of paper as indicated in the picture and slightly stretch the figure.

  • There are many different ways to entertain yourself. One of these options is origami. This activity will interest not only children, but also adults, and will also allow you to spend a good time together. In this article, we will look at unusual and simple ways to create cars from paper at no extra cost and using improvised means.

    Origami technique

    Origami is a fairly ancient technique, originating in China. The technique was primarily used in religious rituals; later it became available to the upper strata of society. Over time, the technique spread and found a huge number of fans.

    Today, not only adults, but also children of all ages practice origami, and there are a huge number of different templates and designs for paper cars.

    The technique has several varieties:

    • modular - the most popular and widespread system, characterized by the creation of several blocks and volumetric figures;
    • simple – designed specifically for beginners or people with limited mobility;
    • wet folding - carried out by using water to give the lines smoothness and expressiveness.

    Origami is a technique for creating models and figures of various themes from paper. This method helps develop logic and spatial thinking. In addition, the creative side of the personality develops due to the active work of thought processes.

    Types of paper machines

    There are a considerable number of options for creating beautiful paper cars. Let's look at the most common of them.

    Assembly according to instructions. There are special instructions on how to make a paper machine, which can be easily found on the Internet. In order to make such a machine, you will need to download the diagram, print it on a printer, then you just have to cut it out and glue it together.

    Sports option

    To create, you will need a rectangular sheet of paper. It is important that its sides have a ratio of 1:7. The top right corner is bent first and the bottom left corner in a similar manner. After fixing, the corners return. As a result, we get outlines.

    After this, you need to bend the top element, tucking it inside at the same time. Next, bend the triangles again towards the central part of the sheet. The side parts of the sheet are folded, and the bottom part is folded.

    At the final stage, the figure is folded in half, and the protruding pieces of paper are carefully tucked into the resulting pockets. If desired, the car can be decorated.

    Simple option

    A square sheet of paper is folded in half from bottom to top, then unfolded. You should roll it up in the same way on the perpendicular side. The result should be an outline and the central element should be determined, as shown in the photo of paper machines. The bottom quarter is folded over to the top, and the corners are folded back.

    The part located on top bends down, while obscuring the lower part. The upper right corner must be bent, thereby we will get a windshield. Finally, it is recommended to unfold the figure.

    Racing car

    You will need a sheet that needs to be folded in half along the long side. Connect the corner to the opposite side. Carry out a similar operation with all corners. This will create two squares with intersecting lines. Triangles belonging to the long side are bent inward.

    The triangle, located on the other side, is tucked into the folds formed on the hood. All that remains is to bend the fragment that will represent the spoiler.

    Fire engine

    When creating such a model, paper alone will not be enough, so you should prepare glue and scissors in advance. To create it you will need a special blank made of dense material.

    In addition to the main elements of transport, additional parts should also be transferred. After this, the blanks are cut out and carefully glued together. If necessary, additional elements can be glued using PVA glue.

    Machine made from improvised means

    Creating a car not only from paper, but also from available materials can be an equally exciting activity. To create, you can take several cylindrical figures from cardboard, pre-gluing them with multi-colored paper.

    After this, a small rectangle is cut out and slightly bent. This will be a car seat. You can use plastic bottle caps as wheels. At the end, all that remains is to decorate the car.

    In conclusion, it should be noted that creating paper models is a very exciting and useful activity; the main thing is to follow the step-by-step instructions on how to make a machine with your own hands. The video shows a master class on paper cars.
