Crepe paper peonies. How to make paper peonies: options

In this master class we will make peonies with our own hands. I will show only one of the options; on the Internet you can find many photo and video lessons on making peonies from corrugated paper and candies. In addition to paper, I saw mk on which this flower is collected from foamiran, satin ribbons, beads and even clay. But it seems to me that my method produces the most delicate, “fluffy” peonies and making them is not at all difficult. How to make other flowers, for example, or, see in the same section.

Step-by-step master class

For one flower, cut out 10 blanks from red corrugated paper 10 cm by 10 cm.

We cut out such circles from them, that is, we simply cut off the corners of our paper squares.

And we give our round pieces a petal shape. It is more convenient to cut them out by folding 3 leaves together, and this is much faster. Let them be the same, there’s nothing wrong with that.

We take the first circle and screw our candy attached to a toothpick exactly into the middle.

And so on with each subsequent circle.

We fix the last petal from below. This can be done with a thread, tied around a toothpick, or you can simply glue the bud to the “stem” using PVA.

For the sepals, we cut out a blank of this shape from green corrugated paper. Size 5 cm in height and 8 cm in length.

And glue it.

Peonies from colored corrugated paper can be made in any shade. The most common colors in nature are white, pink, yellow and purple.

We present to you a step-by-step master class in which we will tell you how to make peonies from corrugated paper with your own hands. As a result, you will be able to make these flowers yourself and without much effort. Despite the fact that making them will require a sufficient amount of time, the resulting result will delight you with its beauty and realism!

Tools and materials Time: 3-4 hours Difficulty: 6/10

  • floral wire (for the stem);
  • floral tape (or use strips of dark green corrugated paper);
  • yellow double-sided paper;
  • high-quality crepe paper in bright pink and dark green shades;
  • PVA or stationery glue;
  • ruler;
  • scissors.

Congratulate your beloved women on March 8 and other holidays by presenting them with a delicate handmade bouquet, which includes colorful and very realistic peonies made of corrugated paper!

To make flowers you will need corrugated paper. The advantage of such paper in comparison with regular and cigarette paper is that it can be stretched, stretched and compressed as desired, as a result of which the petals become similar to real ones. Don't skimp and buy high-quality crepe paper, which will allow you to create truly realistic products!

Step-by-step master class

So, let's begin the most enjoyable activity - creating beauty with our own hands, that is, we begin to make peonies from corrugated paper.

Step 1: Make the middle

  • Cut out a rectangle measuring 5x20 cm from thick yellow paper.
  • Cut the rectangle into thin strips ¾ of its width.
  • Apply glue to the uncut edge of the paper.
  • To create a layered fringe, glue one edge of the yellow paper to the floral wire. Then wrap the fringe around the wire, moving a little towards the top. Pin the other end of the fringe and press the fringed center tightly.
  • Leave the craft to dry, then straighten the fringe beautifully.

Step 2: Cut out the petals

  • From a roll of bright pink crepe paper, cut a strip 2.5 cm wide. Cut it into pieces 2.5 x 7.5 cm. In total, you need to cut 10 such pieces.
  • Use scissors to shape the pieces into petals.
  • Squeeze the bottom of the petals with your fingers.
  • Give the petals a rounded-convex shape in the form of hemispheres.
  • Next, from the same roll of pink paper, cut a strip 4 cm wide. Cut it into pieces measuring 4 x 7.5 cm. You also need 10 such pieces.
  • Cut petal-shaped pieces. Squeeze their lower part, and straighten the top and sides in the shape of hemispheres.
  • Give the top of the petals a wavy shape.

Step 3: Make the Leaves

If you don't have floral tape, take a roll of dark green crepe paper and cut a 1 cm wide strip from the top. You need to make 4 such strips in total.

  • Cut the green crepe paper into 2.5 x 7.5 cm pieces. Cut as many pieces as you want to make leaves, as desired.
  • Cut petal-shaped pieces.
  • Squeeze the bottom and top of the leaves towards the middle. Straighten the sides, giving them a curved, realistic shape.

Step 4: Collect the flower

  • Take 5 small petals of bright pink color. Glue them overlapping around the fringe. This will be the first layer of petals.
  • In the same way, glue the remaining 5 small petals around the fringe (layer 2).
  • Next, glue 5 large petals around the fringe, also overlapping. After this, pinch and spread out the outer edges of the third layer of petals.
  • Glue the remaining five large petals onto the flower in the same way.

Step 5: Make the stem

  • When all the petals are glued, wrap the bottom of the flower with floral tape or a pre-prepared strip of green crepe paper. If you use crepe paper, secure it with glue.
  • Add 1-2 leaves under the bottom of the flower. Secure with floral tape.
  • Next, add a few more leaves to the flower stem.
  • Spread the petals of the finished peony beautifully, giving them the shape of a bud or a blossoming flower if desired.

To create a peony from corrugated paper you will need:

Corrugated paper in 2 colors green and pastel pink
watercolor paper or cardboard
wire
padding polyester or cotton wool
glue “Moment crystal”
pencil
pliers
scissors
toothpick

We make 3 templates of petals of different sizes from cardboard.

To create one flower you will need to cut out from pink corrugated paper: 5 small petals, 9 medium ones, 15 large ones; 1 square measuring 2.5*2.5 cm; a small ball of padding polyester (cotton wool), as well as a ribbon of green paper and wire (of the size you need).

We wrap the padding polyester in a pink square and glue it to the wire, after which we cover the wire with green tape.

Glue the small petals first, then the middle ones. We form a flower by pulling the petals out from the center; you can curl the edges of the petals with a toothpick.

We first pull out the large petals and press the bottom of the petal a little, and only then glue it on, forming a flower. Twist with a toothpick.

After this, we wrap it again with a small piece of green tape to cover the bottom of the petals. Finally, you can cut out leaves from green crepe paper and glue them to the stem of the flower. Peony is ready.

Let's start our master class on peonies. To make one peony flower, we need crepe paper (or corrugated paper) of various colors, copper wire and PVA glue. Also a standard set of tools for working with paper.

Cut a sheet measuring 20cm by 50cm from a roll of crepe (corrugated) paper. Bend it in half lengthwise, the result should be a strip 50cm long and 10cm wide.

Let's prepare a template.

To do this, prepare a circle with a diameter of 9 cm from plain paper, and cut out semicircles with a diameter of 1 cm along its edge, as shown in the photo.

Fold the prepared square sheets of crepe paper in half diagonally. Next, set the template as shown in the photo and cut out the peony leaves according to the template. The result should be 10 pieces of openwork circles.

We make stamens, for which take a piece of crepe paper measuring 2x3cm. From the scraps remaining after making the petals, twist small sticks 1.5 cm long and wrap them in yellow paper as shown in the photo. One flower requires 5 stamens.

Let's start making the center of the peony flower. Take a copper wire 15-20cm long and wrap a piece of paper measuring 1.5x3cm on one side. Glue the stamens in a circle, as shown in the photo.

We begin assembling the petals of the peony flower. Use a needle to make a hole in the center of the prepared circles. Place it on the stem of the flower.

This luxurious peony, made of corrugated paper, will be within your control, dear readers, if you study the master class posted on this page :)

Agree, such flowers look very realistic. Can you imagine how you can decorate your interior with them?!

Let's explore a master class of these incredibly beautiful peonies!

See what you'll need for this project.

You will also need a papier-mâché ball. To do this, you need to cover the balloon with paper in three layers with intermediate drying. And for glue, use a homemade paste made from flour and water 1:1.

Now learn about the unusual trick of this project in creating a base for a peony :)
If you look at a peony, its inner petals are more recessed in relation to the outer large petals.

To create this indentation, use a piece of the bottom of a papier-mâché ball about 2 1/2".

Using a needle and thread, finish the edge of the cut with stitches, as shown in the picture.

Now let's talk about the petals.

To create a variety of peony petals you will need crepe paper. You can now see the sizes and shapes of the petals on the screen.

and further. In total, the peony has 7 types of different petals.

Now learn the technique of forming the three-dimensional shape of the petals.

In the very center of the petal we stretch the corrugated paper. And bend the base of the petal inward, as shown in the picture.

Let's take a closer look at the formation of each petal.

Petal No. 1:

Petal No. 1 is used for the center of the peony. We connect the base of the petal by squeezing the base and fixing it with hot glue, retreating a centimeter from the edge of the base. Wrap the second petal around the first as shown. in the picture Glue it in the very center of the concave shape using hot glue.

So, the very center of the peony flower is already in place :) So that this semicircular shape does not walk around the table. like a tumbler - place it for convenience in a bowl of a suitable diameter.

We continue to wrap the centering with petals, slightly stretching the middle of them, and folding the base of the petal towards each other.

Cover the edge of the cut with corrugated paper too, so that everything is aesthetically pleasing :)

Petal No. 2-5:

We continue to glue the formed petals in the direction from the center and spirally around the circumference, using as they emerge from the deep base from the smaller petal size to the larger one. 8 petals of each type. We bend the base of each petal and place it on the backing with hot glue.

Petal No. 6:

We begin to glue these petals (4 - 5 pieces) on the outer side of the base semicircle, slightly stretching the very edge of the petal in the middle. Glue it with hot glue as shown in the picture. The petals are glued slightly overlapping each other.

It’s already turning out very nice, isn’t it? :)

Since the craftswoman was making a hat from a flower, she used an additional fragment of a papier-mâché ball, which she glued to the base of the flower, as shown in the picture.

For this she used approximately 3-4" from the end of the cut.

Petal No. 7:

We glue five petals sequentially onto the base, first giving them a wavy shape.

Such a huge peony can be made as an original gift for a mother, grandmother, friend, sister...for a birthday, March 8th or other holiday. They will definitely never forget this flower, because it will be very big and beautiful!
Also, if desired, this peony can be modified into an original hat!

To create a peony you will need:
2 - 3 rolls of corrugated paper of a suitable color;
glue;
needle with thread;
a balloon about 2 times the size of your head if you want to make a hat out of it, or a balloon a little smaller if you want to make a simple peony; (note that the ball needs a regular round shape)
newspapers - will be needed to make the papier mache base.

First of all, you will need to make a blank for the peony using the papier-mâché technique and a balloon. The balloon needs to be inflated and tied.
Papier-mâché means "chewed paper" in French. The whole wisdom of the papier-mâché technique lies in pasting over some shape with pieces of soft paper in several layers. In our case, we will cover the ball with paper.
Tearing the newspaper with your hands (never cut with scissors!) into small pieces, cover the entire surface of the mold (ball) with them.
Lubricate the first layer of paper with glue and stick the second layer. To avoid confusion about which layer is which, take paper of a different color for the second layer.
Thus, cover the form with several layers of paper. The glue will need to be allowed to dry for several hours, it is advisable to even put the ball aside for a day. Then the ball must be carefully deflated or burst.
Carefully cut off the rounded “lid” of the papier-mâché workpiece, approximately 6.5 - 7 cm high from the top of the ball.

Now turn the cap upside down and insert it into the second part of the ball.

Now sew both parts with threads, connecting them together. After this, saturate the entire edge with glue for better strength (on top of the threads).

Now the petals. The petals will need to be cut into different shapes. The shape is shown in the photos below and the different shapes are numbered.
The grid with markings displays their size in inches! Therefore, the maximum petal height is not 7 cm, but 7 inches, i.e. almost 17 cm!
1 inch = 2.54 cm.

Also here the width of the widest petal number 6 = 23 cm.

The height of petal number 7 = 20.3 cm.

Each petal will need to be cut out at least 10 times.
At the end we will need to make a few more large petals, but more on them later.
Let's start collecting peony.
Standard technique for all petals:
Gently stretch the petal out from the center to create a "dish" shape, then fold the bottom of the petal back. We will use this part of the petal to glue it to the base.
Now on to the numbers. Petal number 1.
These petals are used to create the central part of the bud. Take one petal and fold it in half at the bottom, gluing the junction with glue. Take another petal of the same type and wrap it around the first one, also gluing the edges at the base with glue. Coat the lower part of the workpiece with glue and glue it to the center of our base.

The petals should peek out from behind the edges of the base.

Note: To make it more convenient for you to work, you can place the workpiece in a wide vase.
Add a few more (10 pieces) of these petals around the base of the bud, placing them a little further.

Before moving further, cover the edge of the workpiece with corrugated paper of the same color as the petals.

Continue creating a flower using petals numbered 2 - 5. The author of the tutorial used 8 petals numbered 2 - 4 and four petals numbered 5.

Petals number 5 come last, so they will need to be carefully glued to the base.

Now we need large petals numbered 6t. Four such petals need to be placed on the outside of the workpiece, so that their tops reach the tops of neighboring petals.

Now we need petals number 8. We will need quite a lot of them. They will need to be stretched from the center just like other petals, plus the upper part of the petal will need to be twisted onto a tube or tassel.
Cover most of the remaining space with these petals in a circle. You will need about 25 - 30 of these petals.
Now cut out large petals from which you can form "bowls". Glue them to the base itself, as shown in the example.
Fill in the gaps with the small petals and then fold our larger final petals over to the flower and lightly glue them at the base.

If you are going to use this flower as a fun hat, then the inside of the papier-mâché workpiece needs to be sealed with fabric. You will also need to glue or sew on beautiful ribbon ties.
