The cheapest DIY garage. Building a garage with your own hands: a step-by-step guide from scratch on how I build a garage

Many vehicle owners are wondering how to quickly build a garage from inexpensive building materials. A car parked outdoors is exposed to various atmospheric influences. This not only makes you burn out paint coating, but the body, components and parts located under the hood also quickly corrode.

The cheapest garage is the metal “shell”, famous in the 90s, or a ready-made prefabricated metal one. But this is not at all best option, since condensation collects there, there are temperature changes, which also negatively affects the car, but it is better to build a warm room.

Today there are many building materials for constructing a building. They differ from each other not only in cost, but also in specific gravity, which determines the type of foundation for the structure. The lighter the structure, the less powerful the foundation can be made.

Laying the foundation

For a heavy structure it is better to make a strip foundation, for a light one it is enough to make a columnar one. The only thing that must not be forgotten is that even if an inexpensive columnar foundation is being built, it must be laid to the freezing depth. In our latitudes this is at least 80 cm. Columnar foundation, naturally, will reduce the cost of building a garage. Some argue that the foundation can be laid in a trench 40 cm deep. But then it can be excruciatingly painful when, after a cold winter, the structure “leads” due to the fact that the foundation cracks and begins to collapse. This effect may not be noticed immediately - only after a few years.

Before starting construction, you need to carefully calculate all costs and weigh your financial capabilities.

Only after this can you decide what to build a cheap option from.

Construction materials

What is needed for construction

  1. Used brick is a fairly cheap, warm and reliable material. But it is worth considering that often its surface does not have an attractive or even decent appearance. This means that walls made of such material will have to be either plastered or covered with other finishing materials. And this will make the entire structure more expensive than some new materials.
  2. Sandwich panels are a modern building material. It is distinguished by its low weight, ease and speed of installation of structures made from it. Most types of these panels do not require external and interior decoration. These are three-layer slabs with an internal insulating layer and a coating on the outer sides of metal, polystyrene foam or magnesite slab. They are quite large in size (from 1000×2000 mm), which speeds up the installation of structures made from them. It is worth noting that for construction, a frame must be made from such panels. It can be made of wood, metal or even reinforced concrete structures. The most commonly used metal frame. It is strong and durable and, unlike wood, does not shrink or dry out. And yet you can build a frame out of wood. Wall material such as “sandwiches” allows you to carry out all stages of construction yourself.
  3. Corrugated sheeting can also be classified as one of the building materials from which you can build a garage at low cost. This design is arranged on a metal or wooden frame. At the same time, you must not forget to take into account the costs of insulating the structure. Because without insulation of the walls and ceiling, it will be the same tin can with all its shortcomings as a ready-made prefabricated one.
  4. OSB boards today are also popular among those who build lightweight structures. The advantage of OSB board is that it is not susceptible to moisture like other lumber. OSB acquired this property due to its three-layer structure, where in the outer layers the chips are located horizontally along the surface of the slab, and in the inner layer - vertically. From this material you can build enough cheap premises for a car. Its construction will not take much time, because... is also performed on a frame, and the dimensions of the slab are quite large. The spans between the frame posts should not exceed 1.2 m, because OSB boards are a fairly flexible material. Large spans will make the structure fragile. The thickness of the wall slabs must be at least 18 mm. There are also slabs with a thickness of 22 mm on sale. The outside of walls made of this material can be finished with siding. But this operation should not be performed immediately if there are not enough funds. It is permissible to start by covering the walls with plastic film, because OSB boards resist moisture well. Insulation from the inside is not necessary. But if you still want to insulate the room, you can do this over time, when additional financial opportunities become available. Inside the room, there will be a space between the frame posts that can be filled with mineral wool or polystyrene foam.

To build this structure with your own hands, you don’t have to be a skilled craftsman. It is enough to have basic skills: the ability to work with a hammer, screwdriver, electric saw.

The first and mandatory stage is the creation of a project. To do this, you also don’t have to resort to the services of a designer. After all, a garage is a simple rectangular box. The optimal option is 4x6 m with a height of 2 m. If you build it for a minibus, you can make the width and length a little larger (although this is not necessary), and the height - 2.5 m.

Construction project

To optimize construction costs, there is nothing left to do but build a frame garage. In accordance with the dimensions, you need to calculate the number of racks. At the same time, do not forget that the spans between them must correspond to the width of the wall panels, taking into account the fact that they are attached end-to-end, and sandwich panels are overlapped (they have special locks for this purpose).

Today it is prestigious to have automatic overhead gates, but they are expensive. Therefore, if you decide to stay within the minimum budget, then choose the cheaper option. You can purchase the same type of gate, but with mechanical (manual) lifting of the door leaf. But still, this element should not be neglected.

Automatic lift gates

There's another one structural element, which will help optimize the cost of construction. Instead of gable roof, which requires the construction of a rather complex rafter system, you can make a lean-to one. Under it rafter system much simpler. But you should not neglect its strength, since this can affect the strength of the entire structure. The slope of a pitched roof must be at least 25° so that there is no excessive snow load on the structure and it does not collapse.

During construction, you should not forget that the floor must be higher than the ground level so that neither rain nor groundwater gets inside. You don’t have to do this right away concrete screed. You can cover the floor with crushed stone and compact it. Over time, when funds become available, it will be possible to make a screed using this crushed stone base.

Video: construction from foam blocks

Sometimes new vehicle owners begin to think about how to quickly build a garage when it rains and then gets cold. You can quickly build a frame and sheathe it. This will take 2-3 weeks. But it is important to remember that the foundation required for any permanent structure must be settled for at least 3 weeks until it reaches 70% strength. Therefore, if you want to build a room for the rainy and cold season, you need to start work in the spring, as soon as the ground has completely thawed.

What is the best way to build a cheap and warm garage with your own hands? What are the budget options for this? Modern manufacturers provide customers huge assortment building materials. If you want to cheaply build an inexpensive, but reliable garage, then you can build it yourself from the following materials:

  1. corrugated sheets;
  2. wood;
  3. metal;
  4. sandwich panels;
  5. bricks;
  6. foam, gas, cinder blocks.

Some materials have quick assembly times, others have a longer service life. Depending on the selected materials, the foundation for the building is selected.

ATTENTION: For permanent buildings, a solid foundation should be made, and for light buildings collapsible structures, simpler foundations are suitable.

Structures made of foam and gas blocks

If you choose foam block or aerated concrete, then these materials are in particular demand. The advantages of this construction technology include:

  • the shortest possible time;
  • affordable cost of materials;
  • the opportunity to build a garage on your own;
  • good characteristics.

To build garages from various modern blocks, you do not need to have much experience in the construction industry. These materials are large in size, which shortens the construction process. These materials are relatively light in weight.

They can be easily processed by hand or electric tools . As a result, you will have a solid and durable garage, at an affordable cost and in a timely manner. Due to the low thermal conductivity of the materials, there is no need to additionally insulate the walls.

Any construction begins with design. At this stage the calculation is carried out necessary materials, the foundation is selected, the thickness of the walls, the roofing option, and the like are selected. Having a project will greatly speed up the process of constructing a garage.

For this type of construction, you can limit yourself to laying a monolithic, strip or pile-strip foundation. If you build a garage from foam or gas blocks, then a wall thickness of 20 cm will be sufficient.

ADVICE: For this you should choose building blocks 20 cm wide If you lay them lengthwise along the walls, you will save consumables and spend less time on construction work.

Room made of corrugated board

Corrugated sheeting has excellent technical qualities. This material is different:

  1. resistance to corrosion;
  2. fast construction times;
  3. durability;
  4. aesthetics.

When choosing material for building a garage, give preference to load-bearing corrugated sheeting. It is marked with the letter “H” and is resistant to mechanical stress and damage.

To build a garage from corrugated sheets, it is enough to make a strip foundation
. It is characterized by low cost and quick installation time. Such a construction can be done within a few days, without the help of specialists.

But keep in mind that the strip foundation will harden for about 5-7 days. As for the choice of material thickness, a material with a thickness of 0, 4 and up to 1 mm would be an excellent option for a garage. But it is best to take the thickness of corrugated sheeting for walls - 0.6-0.7 mm.

IMPORTANT: Corrugated sheeting has high thermal conductivity. In the summer, its walls will become very hot under direct sun rays. To solve the problem, it is necessary to make high-quality thermal insulation.

Wooden structure

The advantages of building from natural wood include:

  • safety and environmental friendliness;
  • aesthetics;
  • efficiency.

The tree must be processed by special means, improving fire resistance. This material is easy and pleasant to work with. Natural wood allows you to create structures of any complexity, size and architectural design.

For such a building you can choose monolithic foundation in the form of a slab. After laying the foundation, you can begin to push out the walls. The forcing of the walls begins from the bottom trim around the entire perimeter.

For this, beams measuring 10 by 10 cm are used.

Construction from sandwich panels

As for building a garage from sandwich panels, this method is prefabricated. Assemble a garage if available necessary materials possible within one to two days.

The basis of such a building will be a metal frame onto which sandwich panels are attached. The main advantages of such construction include:

In the process of assembling a garage from sandwich panels, you will need to work with a welding machine. If you do not have skills in this area, invite a good welder to help.

A garage made of sandwich panels will not require additional thermal insulation. Since it is already sold with various insulation materials inside.

ATTENTION: When choosing sandwich panels, give preference to steel sheets. They are characterized by higher resistance to negative factors and aggressive influences.

Such a garage will not require additional finishing either outside or inside. The presence of a wide range of colors will give you the opportunity to choose exactly the material design that will fit perfectly into your landscape design.

Despite numerous positive qualities sandwich panels, you will not be able to place heavy shelves or racks on the walls. To prevent the building from freezing in winter, it is necessary to carefully monitor the sealing of its joints.

Ready-made kits are available for sale, consisting of:

  • frame;
  • cladding panels;
  • roofs;
  • fasteners.

Two people are enough to assemble such a structure. The thickness of the sandwich panels can be any. It varies from 50 to 20 mm.

When choosing fasteners, it is worth considering the thickness of the walls, since the screws must be screwed into it by at least 3.5 cm.

Metal garage

As for the construction of a metal garage, such a building will please the owners:

  1. affordable cost;
  2. fairly fast assembly time;
  3. light weight structure;
  4. mobility (if necessary, the building can be dismantled or moved to another location)
  5. durability.

For construction metal garage it will take no more than a month of work. It will not require a strong foundation and will cost you several times less than building with bricks.

To assemble a metal structure, you can limit yourself to a strip or slab foundation. To build a reliable and durable building, you should choose sheet iron with a thickness of 2-2.5 mm.

A metal garage gets very cold in winter and warms up in summer. To solve this problem, you need to make a thermal insulation layer.

Brick and concrete pavilion

Brick buildings have been considered the most proven and reliable method for many years. Of course construction of a garage from of this material has its positive aspects, such as:

  • durability;
  • resistance to negative factors;
  • excellent heat and sound insulation.

But a brick garage also has its disadvantages, for example:

  1. Very long term construction;
  2. high cost of material;
  3. the need for a strong foundation.

There is no way to build a brick garage inexpensively. The brick itself has a fairly high cost. And if you do not know how to make brickwork, then you will pay a specialist the same amount for the work as for all the material for construction.

In addition, such a building is heavy in weight and requires a capital foundation.. And these are additional considerable financial expenses, And long term construction.

If your plans are to build a garage with high quality, quickly and inexpensively, then this option will not suit you. It is best to choose any of the above materials.

As for concrete buildings, they are also distinguished by high performance, heat and sound insulation, strength and reliability. But such a building will take too much time to construct and will be quite expensive.

Roofing options

The choice of roof for a garage directly depends on whether the room will be heated winter time year or not. By type of roof they are divided into:

  • flat;
  • single-pitched;
  • gable.

ADVICE: When installing flat roof it will be necessary to fill concrete base or use special plates. The pitched roof is in great demand among those who build a garage on their own.

But if you decide to do gable roof, then here you will have to stock up on a lot consumables, free time, and you need to have a little skill in carrying out such a series of tasks.

A flat roof needs insulation from a concrete slab. When installing a pitched roof, a layer of thermal insulation is laid between the rafters. A gable roof is insulated according to the principle of a single-pitch roof, or you can put the insulation in the horizontal ceiling of the room.

Once you have decided on the type of roof, you should select and roofing materials. The most popular and widespread are considered:

  1. slate;
  2. roofing felt;
  3. metal tiles;
  4. corrugated sheeting;
  5. bitumen shingles.

When choosing roofing materials, consider your personal wishes and preferences, structural features, and your financial capabilities.

The choice of roof type takes place at the design stage of the building. Depending on the type of roof chosen, a suitable type of foundation is selected.

Conclusion

To summarize, it can be noted that each building material described above has its own characteristics. As for the inexpensive option construction, then this is the construction of a garage from foam blocks, cinder blocks, corrugated sheets or sandwich panels.

You must decide for yourself which option to choose. The main thing is that the building you build fully corresponds to your wishes, is easy to use and protects your car as much as possible from various negative factors.

The garage is considered a multifunctional room that can perform many useful functions. In addition to storing the vehicle, it is used as a storage for vegetables, fruits, tools or building materials. It is recommended to figure out in advance what is best to build your garage from and what materials to use for this.

Before construction, you need to decide on the type of garage space for storing vehicles. There are several types of car garages that are popular among motorists.

Capital

Owners of large summer cottages they build permanent structures that are located separately from the residential building. The main difference between garages of this type is that, in addition to the building, a separate place for parking and entry of cars is also being built. Some builders do it in capital garages small rooms for storing auto parts or tools.

The advantages of the buildings include:

  • reliability;
  • soundproofing;
  • thermal insulation.

Combined

People who do not want to spend a lot of time on construction prefer combined structures. When constructing such a garage, the Swedish construction method is used, in which the foundation is made of concrete and the upper part of the structure is made of metal.

When creating the frame of combined garage spaces, steel pipes are used. To cover the frame, experts advise using corrugated sheeting or siding.

Temporary

To quickly build a vehicle storage space, temporary garages are built. They are assembled from corrugated sheets, wood or metal building materials. The main advantage of temporary buildings is that for their construction you do not need to obtain permission in advance. This allows the car owner to save not only his time, but also financial resources.

Which material to choose

When constructing car garages, various building materials are used. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the features of each of them in advance in order to choose the most suitable material.

Brick

Among the common building materials for constructing garages are brick. However, this material is not the most suitable, since it does not protect the room well from low temperatures. If you build brick garage, you will have to spend time and money on insulating the building.

When using brick, builders advise making thick walls to make it easier to maintain a normal temperature inside. Also, dense walls will reduce the level of humidity and protect the car from corrosion.

Cinder block and foam block

When constructing garage structures, cinder blocks are often used. In this case, one of its three varieties is used:

  • shell rock;
  • blast furnace-slag;
  • brick.

Cinder block buildings are much more powerful than brick ones, as they are durable and strong. However, cinder block has a serious drawback - the absorption of moisture, which leads to the destruction of the brick. Therefore, you cannot use cinder blocks in areas where the groundwater level is high. In such places, wood is used, which can be treated with special compounds to protect against dampness.

Wooden beam

More recently, wood was considered an unsuitable material for creating car garages, as it quickly burns. However, now wooden building materials are treated with fire-hazardous agents, thanks to which wooden surfaces do not ignite. Also, to enhance fire resistance, the wood is trimmed with slabs made of basalt wool.

Wooden garages need insulation, and therefore flooring covered with expanded clay screed. This helps retain heat indoors.

Sandwich panels

This building material is used if it is necessary to build a garage structure in the shortest possible time. The basis of buildings built from sandwich panels is a metal frame, which, after installation, is covered with corrugated sheeting.

In the construction industry, two types of sandwich panels are used, which include:

  • sandwich with mineral wool or foam insulation inside;
  • OSB panels.

It is not easy to build a garage from this building material on your own, since to carry out the work a person must have the skills to use a welding device, a screwdriver and other tools.

Pros and cons of different types of materials

All building materials have advantages and disadvantages, which must be familiarized with before using them.

Wood

Structures built from wood have the following advantages:

  • Small mass. Wood is several times lighter than brick or metal, making it much easier to build walls. Also, due to the fact that the garage structure weighs little, it is not necessary to make a reliable foundation.
  • Environmental friendliness. Wood is considered a safe building material that does not harm human health.
  • Thermal insulation. Wooden walls have low thermal conductivity, which makes it possible to avoid additional insulation.

The main disadvantages of wood are that it is easily flammable and rots when exposed to high humidity levels.

Brick

Bricks stand out among other building materials with the following advantages:

  • Durability. Properly built brick garages can last for decades.
  • Protection from mechanical damage and precipitation. These materials cope with the effects of low temperatures, snow, rain and strong gusts of wind.
  • Environmental friendliness. When making bricks, water with sand and clay are used, which do not harm the environment and people.

The disadvantages of brick garages include:

  • Financial costs. To build a reliable brick building, you will have to spend a lot of money.
  • Duration of construction. Buildings made of brick take many times longer to build than those made of wood.
  • Structure weight. Buildings made of brick weigh a lot, and therefore you will have to build a strong foundation.

Corrugated sheet

The third most popular material from which garages are made is corrugated sheeting. Its advantages include:

  • Duration of operation. Companies involved in the production of corrugated sheets claim that it does not deteriorate for thirty years.
  • Rust resistant. All sheets are covered with a protective zinc layer, which protects the surface from dampness and prevents corrosion.
  • Ease. Structures whose walls are made of profiled sheets are considered the lightest.
  • Price. Corrugated sheeting is cheaper than wood, brick and many other building materials.

The main disadvantage of profiled sheets is poor sound insulation.

How to cover the roof

There are four types of materials that are used when covering a garage roof.

Polycarbonate

When creating a roof, polycarbonate is often used, which has the following properties:

  • strength, thanks to which the coating can withstand impacts from heavy objects;
  • soundproofing;
  • combustion resistance;
  • light weight.

Profiled sheet

Some builders use profiled sheets when creating a roof. This material is resistant to corrosion on the surface due to the lining.

The sheets are easy to use, and therefore it is not necessary to have experience in the construction industry to re-roof.

Ruberoid

Roll roofing using roofing felt is considered the simplest and most common method of organizing a roof. This method is popular among builders because of its low cost and ease of installation.

To prevent the roof from leaking, you need to use dense roofing material, the density of which is 5-7 millimeters. Less durable material quickly cracks and begins to leak.

Slate

Slate sheets are considered the most durable and reliable building material for a garage roof. Their advantages include ease of installation, low maintenance, low cost, and fire resistance.

To cover a garage roof, they use a wave type of slate with a sheet size of about one and a half meters. Even people who have not previously been involved in construction will be able to lay such sheets.

How to choose a gate

An important element of any garage is the gate, which protects the garage from intruders. There are different types gates that can be installed in the garage.

Sectional

Structures of this type are made of several sections that are connected by movable elements. Dignity sectional doors They are considered compact, since they do not take up space in the garage and do not interfere with the car’s departure. The advantages also include thermal insulation properties and protection from moisture.

Lifting

The products are made from a single piece of fabric, the size of which is equal to the dimensions of the garage entrance opening. Lifting structures can be operated manually or electrically. The lifting mechanism at the gate is very reliable, since its components are made of durable steel that can withstand any load.

Rolled

Roller models are equipped with a special shaft onto which the leaf is screwed when the gate is opened. They are installed in small garages with little free space. The advantages of the design are considered to be low cost, compactness, and the ability to cover large passages.

Swing

Swing gates attract buyers with their low cost and ease of use. Most often, double-leaf models are installed in garages, consisting of two reliable supports. It is better not to use single-leaf gates, as they sag.

Cost calculation

Construction costs depend on what building materials were used. For example, to purchase a cubic meter of foam blocks they spend 3-4 thousand rubles. At the same time, partition blocks are additionally purchased, the price of which reaches two and a half thousand rubles per cubic meter. Also, part of the financial resources is spent on the purchase of tools and other construction materials. On average, 20-30 thousand rubles are spent on the construction of a car garage.

Conclusion

When building a garage, people often face the problem of choosing suitable building materials. To do right choice, you need to familiarize yourself with the advantages and disadvantages of materials in advance.

Garage - necessary purchase for every car owner. It allows you to park your car in optimal conditions and provides protection from the negative influences of the various kinds, allows for maintenance and repair in comfortable and convenient conditions. Only by leaving your car in the garage, you don’t have to worry about the fact that it can be stolen, damaged, opened and valuables stolen, etc. No one will argue that having a garage is convenient, practical and pleasant. But in modern economic conditions, not all car owners can buy a garage.

In such a situation, you can try to build a garage yourself. But not all materials and types of construction provide truly significant savings. In any case, capital construction will not be cheap, since the materials themselves and the technologies used require significant investments. But among modern building materials and available technologies you can choose those that will make the construction of an inexpensive and practical garage possible. Many craftsmen have been using such buildings for many years. In this article we will tell you how to build a garage cheaply and quickly with your own hands, what materials to choose for this and what technology to use. Choose what is right for you and build a modern and inexpensive garage for your car!

The widest range of modern construction market allows you to choose optimal view materials for any type of construction. You can choose among traditional options, for example, brick or wood, and among relatively new proposals, for example, corrugated sheets, sip panels, etc. We invite you to consider materials in the best possible way suitable for the construction of an inexpensive, aesthetic and practical garage.

The first thing that comes to mind when it comes to material for building a garage is brick. Indeed, most often permanent garages are built from this material. Of course, the properties of this material are excellent: it is strong and beautiful, reliable and durable, and allows you to create high-quality, worthy buildings. But not everyone can afford a brick garage, since its construction costs a decent amount. And the construction itself takes a lot of time. Therefore, if you want to build a garage quickly and without extra costs, then pay attention to more available materials:

  • Tree. This is one of the most traditional materials for the construction of buildings for various purposes. Wood construction technologies have been honed and improved over centuries, and today they have reached the highest level development. Among the excellent properties of this material are environmental friendliness, reliability, durability, ample opportunities for the implementation of architectural ideas, etc. A special atmosphere reigns in rooms built of wood, a pleasant microclimate is maintained, and optimal humidity is maintained. Build from modern wooden materials- a pleasure! You can order at the manufacturer's factory ready set wooden elements according to your project with ready-made fastenings and connections. All you have to do is assemble the parts together to get a beautiful, reliable and high-quality garage. In some respects, wood is even superior to brick, and first of all, in terms of construction cost. Wood provides ample opportunities for the construction of cheap and high-quality buildings;
  • Cinder blocks. This material has gained wide popularity relatively recently. The main advantage of cinder blocks is their low cost and ease of use. Perhaps this material is not capable of providing sufficient quality for the construction of a residential building, but its properties are optimal for a garage. Among strengths cinder blocks have a long service life and a high degree of reliability. And for a garage these properties are the most important. Therefore, you can safely choose this material for constructing a garage;
  • Corrugated sheet. Universal option, which has found wide application in solving various problems. They cover roofs with it, use it to build fences and fences, and also erect buildings for utility purposes, including garages. You can build a garage from corrugated sheets on a finished foundation in a matter of days without outside help. The construction turns out to be neat, neat, reliable and practical.

These materials can be called the most suitable for independent budget construction garage. Next, we will talk about how to build a garage cheaply and quickly with your own hands; video instructions will help you understand the basic principles of working with each of these materials.

By choosing wood as the main material for constructing a garage, you are making a choice in favor of an aesthetic appearance, absolute safety for humans and environment, affordable cost, ease of processing and use. Wood makes excellent garages, but when planning such a construction, you should also be aware of the special nuances that distinguish working with wood.

For the construction of a garage, two modern technologies wood construction. In the first case, an affordable rounded log is used, and in the second, frame technology is used. Buildings made from rounded logs are different high degree reliability. They are strong and beautiful. But the construction frame technology– more affordable. In this situation, you need to correlate your preferences, goals and objectives with the characteristics and features of a particular technology. This will help you choose the best option that suits you.

Features of constructing a garage made of wood

Construction work always begins with the preparatory stage. It is very important to analyze your capabilities and requirements, choose the right place for construction, and think through the design of the future construction. You also need to decide whether your garage will stand alone or will be attached to the house, will there be inspection hole, cellar and other elements. You also need to immediately decide on the type of gate and think through all other aspects down to the smallest detail. This is necessary so that future work can be carried out according to a clear, well-thought-out plan quickly and efficiently.

When you draw up a project and think about the order of work, you need to prepare the selected area for construction work. It needs to be leveled and the soil compacted. The evenness of the site affects the quality of the future structure.

On the prepared site, a solid and high-quality foundation for the garage is created. You will need to prepare trenches around the perimeter of the planned building, form the formwork, fill and compact a bed of gravel and sand.

The most important stage is strengthening the base. For this, metal rods are used, which are laid on top of a sand and gravel cushion. After this, the base can be filled with solution. The foundation gains strength in about three weeks. After this period, you can proceed to other work. The first thing that needs to be built is a lower reinforcing belt made of 50x100 mm timber.

Keep in mind that untreated wood has no protection against moisture, fungus and pests. Therefore, before construction, all wooden elements must be treated with antiseptic compounds.

To construct the frame, you will need timber, which is convenient for making gate posts and leaves, as well as 50x100 mm boards, suitable for all other parts of the building. By bottom harness the step should be no more than 120 cm.

Corner struts that will support the harness will help to further strengthen and strengthen the structure. As a result, the foundation of the building will be strong, stable, and reliable. It is important to carry out all work as accurately as possible from the very beginning, since errors initial stages will certainly make themselves felt later.

In wood construction technology, the most costly and complex stages are the installation of the foundation and the creation of the frame. The frame requires more quality material, and more time and maximum accuracy. And you can even make the cladding from ordinary boards or lining. It won't take much time and won't require any special skills from you. Finishing a wooden garage can be done using almost any materials. Do not forget about the need for high-quality hydro- and vapor barrier. For this you can use polypropylene or plastic film.

There is nothing complicated about building a wooden garage. You will need a little patience and basic knowledge in the field of construction.

Cinder block garages are quite common these days. If you decide to build such a garage, then you need to know that cinder blocks are different:

  • Blast furnace cinder block. Possesses good properties, has a long service life;
  • From a brick fight;
  • Shell rock.

Sometimes cinder blocks are made with the addition of polystyrene, perlite and other components that can improve operational properties this material.

For the construction of a garage, cinder blocks could be called an excellent material, if not for one of its drawbacks - moisture absorption. Due to the penetration of water into the material, it quickly deteriorates and loses its properties. Therefore, it is best to choose cinder blocks for construction on dry ground. In such conditions, buildings made of cinder blocks can last up to 50 years, maintaining their properties. If, on the territory of future construction, there are groundwater, then it is better to avoid using cinder blocks, since there is no treatment or other reliable way to prevent water penetration.

Don’t forget to also take into account the classification of cinder blocks by configuration. They are full-bodied and hollow. The first type is intended for the construction of walls. The second can be used to construct foundations. If you use blocks for other purposes, your construction may turn out to be of poor quality and unreliable.

Features of construction from cinder blocks

Just as in the case of constructing a wooden garage, construction from cinder blocks begins with preparation: the area is cleared, leveled, compacted, and a project and detailed work plan are developed.

Wooden building requires the construction of a poured foundation, whereas cinder blocks require solid foundation no need. For a garage made of cinder blocks, the best option would be. To install it, it is necessary to remove the top layers of soil and prepare a trench. Its depth should reach 50 cm and width - 45 cm. After this, a layer of sand is laid out at the bottom of the trench and broken bricks. After this, the foundation is filled with mortar.

There is another way to construct a strip foundation. After preparing the trench, it is lined with a layer of moistened sand. This layer makes the base stronger and more resistant to temperature changes, moisture, etc. negative impacts. Then it strengthens the structure and fills it.

It takes about a month for the strip base to gain strength. After this, you can proceed to the construction of walls. But there is another way to make a strip foundation. This is the most simple technology, which differs in that instead of sand the trench is lined with rubble stone and immediately after that it is filled with mortar, grade 150 m higher.

When the base is ready, it is necessary to place hydro- and vapor barrier materials. The optimal choice for solving this problem is roofing felt, an affordable and time-tested material.

After this, work is carried out in the following order:

  • Construction of walls;
  • Floor installation;
  • Roof installation;
  • Gate installation.

Cinder blocks must be laid according to the same principle as brick. But in this case, the work will be done much faster and easier. There are two types of masonry - the spoon method, half a stone, and the butt method, one stone. They use masonry of two and one and a half stones. You should focus on your own skills and capabilities when choosing one or another type of masonry. Do not forget that the features of the masonry are reflected in the characteristics of the finished structure, its strength, resistance to negative factors, and durability. For example, a garage built in one stone will freeze at low temperatures, even if it is heated from the inside with several heaters. And the structure, laid in one and a half stones, will turn out to be quite warm and comfortable.

Laying walls starts from the corners. After this, a string is stretched between them, and the masonry continues along its level.

Finishing work When building a garage from cinder blocks, it is necessary to carry out the necessary communications and finish the building from the inside.

Corrugated sheeting is a practical universal material. Fences and various outbuildings are often erected from it. Garages made from corrugated sheets are strong and reliable, have a pleasant appearance and good characteristics. But when planning the construction of garages from corrugated sheets, it is important to choose the material correctly. Do you want to build an inexpensive but reliable garage? Then choose corrugated sheeting, grade C or PS.

In order to make the right choice, you need to understand the labeling of the material. It is performed using alphabetic and numerical designations. The material marked with the letter “C” is intended for walls. The number indicated on the material indicates its hardness. The higher the number, the higher the rigidity of the sheet. To build a garage, we recommend that you choose material marked “C-20”.

Some sellers may recommend that you replace the C-20 with C-10 or C-8. We do not recommend making such a choice, because a garage made of this material, although it will be cheaper, will be short-lived and unreliable. In winter, thin sheets will quickly freeze, and it will be quite difficult to warm them up. This material also does not cope well with wind loads. All these are unsuitable properties for good garage. Therefore, for construction you only need to take twenty. As for the thickness of the sheet, then optimal choice– 0.5 mm.

Features of building a garage from corrugated sheets

To build such a garage you need to purchase:

  • Concrete for the base and reinforcement to strengthen it;
  • Frame parts: timber, metal rods, corner;
  • Elements for gate installation;
  • Fasteners

As for the tools, for construction from corrugated sheets you will need:

  • Welding machine;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Metal scissors;
  • Bulgarian;
  • Jigsaw.

The first stage of construction of a garage from corrugated sheets is the installation of a foundation. For such a building, the best solution would be to make monolithic base. To do this, the upper layers of the earth are removed. Moistened sand is poured into the resulting pit. For the frame posts, it is necessary to provide special wells, which will also play the role of foundation posts. The wells must be driven into the ground to a depth of half a meter.

Thanks to these elements, the foundation will be stronger and more durable. It will cope well with ground movements.

After this, work is carried out according to the standard scheme. Formwork is installed along the perimeter of the pit, reinforcing rods connected to each other with wire are attached to it. After this, frame racks are installed in the prepared wells.

Before this, the lower parts of the racks are treated with bitumen to prevent moisture penetration and reduce other harmful effects.

During the installation of racks, you must carefully monitor their level. They must stand strictly vertically. This needs to be checked regularly building level. After installing the racks, the base is poured with M300 concrete. For the construction of a garage from corrugated sheets, this choice will be optimal.

It is recommended to allow the foundation to gain strength for three weeks. Although some masters believe that moving to further work it is possible within a couple of days after pouring the base. But such a rush can lead to cracking of the foundation, which will completely disable it. So it’s better not to rush and wait the allotted time so as not to nullify all your efforts.

After the foundation gains strength, the metal frame can be installed. First you need to prepare the pipes in sizes appropriate to the project. They can be cut with a grinder or jigsaw, and joined by welding. If you have previously had experience with welding, then you will need less than three days to install the frame. If you are just learning this equipment, you can assemble the frame in a week. Be sure to check the dimensions of the material with the project to avoid annoying mistakes.

Horizontal elements are welded to the installed racks. Welding is carried out at three points. If you are planning to make wooden frame, then special fasteners must be welded to the racks. The beams are fastened together with self-tapping screws.

Sheets of corrugated sheets are also attached to self-tapping screws with a special rubber gasket. You can cut the material with a jigsaw. For this stage of work, it is advisable to enlist the help of two or three people. It is much easier to carry out sheathing with corrugated sheets as a team.

After assembling the frame, you need to think about installing the gate. This part of the construction is very important, since any inaccuracy can lead to the fact that the garage doors simply will not open. You can weld the gate frame from metal corners, and use corrugated sheets as cladding.

The optimal roofing option for an inexpensive garage is a shed roof. The material for the frame will be crossbars made of wood or metal, and lining will be suitable for the sheathing. When choosing roofing materials, be sure to consider your region's climate. For southern places, you can use light sheathing. For colder areas, more careful attention must be paid to the construction of the roof because it must be designed to withstand strong wind, precipitation, snow, etc.

Now you have an idea of how to quickly and inexpensively build a garage. Choose the option that suits you and get started! We wish you good luck!

It is quite possible to build a convenient garage yourself in a month. Of course, if you have an assistant, the work will go faster and it’s quite possible to complete it in two weeks. The main thing is to decide on the choice of material.

Let's consider the most affordable materials from which to build a garage, at the lowest cost in terms of complexity:

  • Ready metal structures can be installed within a day on a shallow foundation or concrete slabs. The disadvantage of such a building is that it requires high-quality insulation and waterproofing.
  • The option made from corrugated sheets will be cheaper, but welding work will be required.
  • A garage made of sandwich panels is quick and convenient. Insulated panels with a thickness of at least 100 mm are mounted on a metal frame. A foundation is not required for such a building; a compacted cushion of crushed stone is sufficient. For a private home, the ideal fast and convenient option at minimal cost.
  • If you have access to inexpensive wood, it is reliable and durable. Logs treated with antiseptics and fire retardants are not inferior to stone and brick in terms of thermal insulation and durability, and even better.
  • A reliable and warm brick garage will cost more; it will require pouring a strip or slab foundation and taking care of an insulated roof. A garage made of foam concrete will cost less, but in this case you will have to think about high-quality insulation and waterproofing.

Let's take a closer look at each construction option, then it will be easier to decide which garage to build is most profitable for you.

If you compare by price, then cinder blocks are a budget choice. The principle of building from brick or stone is similar, so let’s look at building from blocks step by step.

There are different versions of blocks on sale, but it is important to pay attention to their configuration. Solid blocks should be used for the foundation; they can better withstand heavy loads, and hollow blocks should be used for garage walls.

Types of blocks and their characteristics:

  • Materials pressed from blast furnace slag with the addition of perlite or polystyrene are the most reliable and durable.
  • After construction, shell rock requires mandatory plastering of the walls inside and out, but is famous for its excellent thermal insulation characteristics.
  • Foam concrete is convenient and inexpensive, does not require finishing, holds heat well.

The downside of any block material is that it is not resistant to moisture. Even on dry soils, it is imperative to lay a layer of waterproofing on the foundation. If the groundwater level is high on the site, it is an expensive pleasure - serious waterproofing is needed, it is better to choose other materials.

Foundation structure

A brick garage (one or half a brick) or cinder blocks can be safely laid on a reinforced strip foundation of medium depth. The width of the tape is 40-45 cm, the depth is 50 cm, no less.

A building made of foam concrete or cinder block must be installed on a low hydro- and thermally insulated base in order to cut off moisture from the ground. Ordinary rolled roofing felt in two layers is perfect for construction.

After the foundation is erected, the base is heat and vapor insulated using a special material. A universal option for hydro-, heat- and vapor barrier is a simple roofing material. For vapor barrier, you can choose a special membrane for foundations.

It is important to remember that it will take 28 to 30 days for concrete to harden, depending on the weather. Therefore, it is better to fill the foundation early spring, when the soil thaws, but there is no heat yet. These are the best conditions for ideal concrete hardening and construction of any concrete foundation.

You can fill the foundation in the fall, but here you need to focus on the weather. Cinder blocks can only be installed in dry weather; the material should not be allowed to get wet.

Experts recommend a brick plinth for a garage - it is more reliable and durable. The height of the base, depending on soil moisture, is 10 – 20 cm.

Be sure to provide a blind area 50 cm wide

Construction of walls, screed, roofing

Doing block masonry with your own hands is much easier and faster than brick or stone masonry. If you need a warm garage, then we lay out the walls using the butting method in one stone. For southern regions Half a stone laid using the spoon method is quite sufficient.

Important. We install the gates before we start building the walls. The same rule is observed when laying bricks.

For the north, it is necessary to build a wall of at least two stones, since a wall of one stone freezes at a temperature of -15 and above, serious insulation will be needed, which is not cheap.

To make the wall of the building even, first lay out the corners, and then lay cinder blocks along the cord according to the method brickwork with overlapping seam of the bottom row.

The floor screed can also be poured with M200 cement, it is cheaper, but at least ten centimeters thick.

Brick or stone masonry

We also install walls made of brick or stone on a medium-depth strip foundation with the obligatory arrangement of a plinth. Sequence and nuances:

  • The base for brick and stone needs to be at least 10 cm high.
  • It is important to lay roofing felt waterproofing on top of the base.
  • Before building the walls, you need to install the garage door so that it is firmly embedded in the brickwork. The embedded rods are welded at intervals of 30 cm around the perimeter of the gate and embedded in the seams of the brickwork.
  • We lay the bricks using the usual method (chain), starting from the corners.
  • Mortar for masonry: cement M400, not lower, in the proportions of a bucket of cement to four buckets of sand. It is important that the solution is not liquid; the consistency of thick sour cream is better. For plasticity, you can add half a bucket of clay or milk of lime.
  • The height of the wall at the gate is 250 cm, the slope decreases towards the rear wall to a height of two meters.

If you need a wall height of three meters or higher, then the walls need to be reinforced with metal mesh. The most reliable reinforcement option is every fifth row of brick laying.

The slope for the roof should be no less than five centimeters per meter of wall masonry. Standard slope for good drain water with a wall height difference of 30 centimeters.

Roof

We choose a shed roof based on the budget - slate will cost less, corrugated sheeting will have to be additionally insulated with a layer of plywood or other sheathing material.

Garage floors can be made of wood, but metal beams are more reliable and durable. They are embedded into the walls to a depth of 10 cm. For cinder block walls, it is important to reinforce the installation site of the beam with a layer of concrete.

What else is important to pay attention to:

  • The pitch of the floor beams is 80 cm with a slope along the level of the walls.
  • The projection outside the walls is at least 20 cm.
  • The rough filing is made from 40 mm unedged boards with a minimum of cracks.
  • Rolled roofing felt is used as waterproofing on boards.
  • A layer of insulation over roofing felt - expanded clay, slag, mineral wool. It is undesirable to use polystyrene foam; it has zero air conductivity, which is dangerous for the garage.

All wooden structures must be painted or treated with an antiseptic deep penetration for wood. Building a garage with your own hands will cost 50 percent less than hiring a team of builders, but it will also take twice as long.

Prefabricated metal structures with different cladding

The disadvantages of a metal garage are cold and high humidity. Building a garage from ready-made sheets using a frame is quick and convenient. Using a welded metal frame, you can install two wall options:

  • Sandwich panels are slabs of two profiled metal sheets with a layer of insulation inside.
  • Corrugated sheeting – for walls will do only PS or S markings. Sheet hardness is at least 20. For a light and durable structure you need C-20 corrugated sheeting.

Suitable as a foundation for such a prefabricated structure: concrete blocks solid or concrete slabs. Some craftsmen are sure that there are simply no more reliable slabs than a poured slab monolithic foundation, 50 cm deep.

The frame posts are concreted into the foundation. It is imperative to provide a blind area up to 20 cm wide.

Sheets of corrugated sheets or sandwich panels are installed over the installed and welded frame using screws, rivets or bolts.

Wooden garage

Construction of a garage made of wood is inexpensive and fast. Nowadays, prefabricated structures using frame technology are very popular. Such buildings are lightweight, do not require a serious foundation, and it is possible to insulate the walls.

Main important steps:

  • The base can be monolithic, reinforced on a sand or gravel bed with a blind area of 20 cm around the perimeter, or made of cheap material - concrete blocks, 30 cm thick.
  • For frame garage An inexpensive columnar foundation is also suitable.
  • Since wood warps from moisture, the main focus is on waterproofing the foundation and plinth. Logs and boards must be treated with water-repellent impregnation and painted.
  • Lay a layer of roofing felt waterproofing along the entire perimeter of the foundation and along the plinth.
  • We make the corner posts from timber, and the rest of the frame from 50x100 boards, this is quite enough. A 25x100 board is also suitable for the upper joists, but the lower beams must be thicker.
  • Bottom trim at intervals of 120 cm.
  • Any frame can be mounted finishing material– façade siding or lining..
  • A layer of steam and waterproofing between the outer and internal lining– mineral wool in rolls or slabs, vapor barrier film and simple polyethylene.
  • The roof can be installed either single-pitch or gable, depending on the chosen construction design.

The inside of the frame can be sheathed with sheets of plywood and painted with paint containing fire retardants. In wooden garages, gates are installed last so that the building does not collapse under the weight of the metal.
