Profile pipe assortment sizes. Steel profile pipe - square or rectangular, characteristics

GOST 30245-2003 regulates the basic requirements for the production of closed welded profiles for building structures. The range of steel square pipes includes the main sizes:

  • For a square profile: from 40x40x2 to 300x300x14 mm.
  • For a rectangular profile: from 50x25x2 to 400x200x14 mm.

During the development of pipes, round profiles with longitudinal seams are used, which are crimped using rollers to produce a square or rectangular profile. The work is carried out on special mills. The basis is steel:

  • Rolled sheet metal.
  • Carbon steel for universal use.
  • Low-alloy thick-walled steel (from 3 mm or more), according to TU 14105509.

Burr removal from longitudinal seams is carried out with outside design, the following deviations are allowed:

  • 0.5 mm – with a section of profile walls up to 0.4 cm.
  • 1 mm - with a metal cross section of 0.4 cm.

The quality of finished products is regulated by the basic provisions of the assortment:

3 Assortment

3.1 The main parameters of the profile section are shown in Fig. 1.

3.2 Other indicators (S section, axis and weight parameters for 1 m of a profile element) are determined by the corresponding indicators: for pipes with equilateral walls - table. 1; for rectangular-shaped products - table. 2.

3.3 Permissible errors in material thickness correspond to maximum deviations initial blanks 125 cm wide with standard rolling accuracy “B” according to GOST 199-03. Deviations are allowed in bend areas.

3.4 The discrepancy between the height and width of products is calculated in %:

  • For dimensions (height and width) up to 10 cm - ±1, but not less than ±0.5 mm;

Table

Profile pipe is a type of steel pipe. This product category includes a wide range of rolled metal products. It is in high demand among construction, manufacturing, agricultural and engineering enterprises. What is the difference between these products and how to choose the right one from the range of profile pipes suitable product? Buyers have probably asked themselves similar questions. Experts and large manufacturers of long rolled metal products will help you understand the intricacies of the purchase.

What is a profile pipe

A profile pipe is a type of high-quality hollow metal. The profile of this pipe is characterized by several but different features from the round one. Thus, the options are:

  • square;
  • rectangular;
  • oval;
  • flat-oval;
  • arched.

The spread has reached pipes with square and rectangular profiles, which is explained by correct form sections.

Assortment of profile pipes

Speaking about assortment (this term comes from the concept of grade), we mean a list of varieties of products of a given type, which is offered on the goods market. Thus, the range of profile pipes includes rolled metal products, general characteristics which is a hollow structure and not round section. However, these products also have differences:

  • section shape;
  • material of manufacture;
  • production technology;
  • profile size;
  • wall thickness.

Profile form

This parameter is considered fundamental, since the range of products with different cross-sectional shapes (profiles) is indicated separately.

Types by shape:

  • Rectangular pipe. This type of rolled metal has 4 stiffening ribs, which makes it resistant to tearing and deflection. Equally important is the low weight, which is achieved due to the hollow structure. In addition to the benefits of the product, it is worth mentioning convenient storage and ease of transportation.
  • Square pipe. This product combines the aforementioned advantages of a rectangular pipe, while being characterized by compact dimensions. You can’t do without a range of profile square pipes in cases of tough limited space.
  • Oval, flat-oval, arched. These options are often used when special requirements from the object side. Polygonal and special profiles. Profile pipes with a polygonal cut or additional notches are also sold, but they are produced to individual orders.

Receiving technologies

All types of profile pipes, regardless of the profile shape, are produced using similar technologies.

There are 3 of them in total.

  1. Cold rolled. According to cold-rolled technology, the starting material for the production of profile pipes is ordinary round pipes of suitable diameter. The process comes down to rolling a round pipe on special machines. As a result, the product is given required form.
  2. Hot-formed. This manufacturing technology is similar to cold-rolled in that a round pipe is used as the starting material. However, there are also differences - before rolling, the pipe is heated to high temperature. Thanks to this, high internal stress does not arise in the metal and special performance characteristics are imparted to the finished products.
  3. Welded. Production by the welded method involves the use not of a round pipe, but of pieces of sheet metal. They are rolled to give the desired profile, and then the edges are joined by welding.

GOST requirements for the range of profile pipes

Pipes with a profile other than round are considered one of the most important segments of all rolled metal products. They are widely used in construction and other important sites, therefore must be manufactured taking into account stringent requirements. According to GOST 30245-2003, the range of profile pipes is characterized as bent closed welded products with a profile in the form of a rectangle or square.

However, this GOST is far from the only regulatory document. For each type of profile pipe, additional requirements are provided.

Manufacturing materials

One more distinctive feature The range of profile pipes is called the material. The most commonly used is steel. She may be:

  • low alloy;
  • carbon;
  • stainless.

Each is assigned a nomenclature name. It certainly indicates the grade of steel, each of which belongs to one or another group. This characteristic significantly affects the strength, flexibility, durability and other indicators of the finished product (including cost). Less common are pipes made from other materials, such as aluminum.

Square pipes: varieties

With a square profile, they vary depending on the production technology. The range of cold-formed profile pipes includes products with a cross-section of 10-120 mm. The wall thickness can reach 1-8 mm.

Hot deformation products are produced with a cross-section of 30-140 mm, thickness can be 4-14 mm. Electric-welded profile pipes have a thickness of 1-5 mm and a cross-sectional size of 10-100 mm.

Rectangular section

Pipes with a rectangular cross-section vary in side sizes and wall thickness.

The smallest size pipes are 15*10 mm, and the largest are 230*100 mm. Wall thickness varies from 1 to 14 mm. How larger size section, the greater the wall thickness should be. This allows the pipes to withstand increased loads and last for many years.

Advantages

The range of profile steel pipes has several advantages that allow them to be used in construction and industry:

  • Among all rolled metal products, profile pipes have the lowest metal consumption, which significantly reduces the weight and cost of the finished structure.
  • Such products are easy to bend, cut and weld, which reduces the speed of installation of products.
  • Taking into account sanitary and hygienic standards in production makes them easy to maintain.
  • Made of steel, the pipes are completely fireproof.

The buyer selects a product based on the main requirements of the project being implemented, the scope of application and operating features. In other words, there is not one perfect solution for two projects, completely different in direction, cost and application features.

Having examined the characteristics and differences of profile pipes, we can conclude: this type of rolled metal is diverse and can be extremely useful in many areas of industry. However, those products that were manufactured taking into account accepted requirements and standards will be durable and wear-resistant. For this reason, before purchasing rolled metal, you should read the supporting documents.

Nowadays, steel profile pipe has become widespread. supporting parts, make stop frames for public transport, railings, benches and much more. The most popular area of application for corrugated steel pipes is reflected in the construction industry when installing metal structures and constructing buildings.

Great possibilities for choosing types of corrugated steel pipes make it possible to produce suitable design for the required tasks.

The steel pipe has a cross-section with 4 stiffeners. Despite the fact that such a product does not weigh much, it can withstand very heavy loads.

Their application

The use of profile steel pipes is varied in scope. Undoubtedly, the most basic area of use of profile pipe materials is construction. In modern building structures This type of pipe assortment is used everywhere.

Their use has the following advantages:

  1. Metal is saved by almost a quarter when compared with the construction of a metal building using an I-beam.
  2. Easy installation and the small amount of time spent constructing the frame and structure.
  3. Such metal structure more resistant to the formation of corrosion manifestations when compared with other pipe rolling options. And cold-formed corrugated pipes successfully replace I-beams, angles and channels.

Specifications

Let's consider the main specifications profile steel pipe:

  • Profile view. Its main types are: square, rectangular and oval. This criterion determines the division of pipe profiles in the general assortment.
  • Geometric dimensions. For rectangular views, this is the width and height. And also the length of each segment.
  • Wall thickness. Quite a significant detail, because it determines the scope of further use.
  • Weight. An equally significant assessment that determines the quality level of goods. Through weight and geometric dimensions you can find out the wall thickness. This becomes very useful in situations where there is no access to measurements.

When describing steel corrugated pipes, it should be noted that their range is determined by GOST 8639-82. In this document, three main types of profile are distinguished:

  • Cold-formed.
  • Hot rolled.
  • Electric welded.

The first two are seamless, and the third is produced from sheet material using welding technologies.

It should be noted that any characteristic of a pipe depends on a number of its other indicators. For these reasons, we can conclude that the presence of a table of the corresponding calculated GOST values makes it possible to easily find out how much high level quality from one manufacturer or another.

Range of these products

In addition to these parameters, classification can be made by the following points:

  1. Steel marking.
  2. Absence/presence of finishing heat treatment.

The length parameters in this situation are determined by GOST 13663-86. This standard determines that steel pipes of various shapes are produced in standard measured sections, their length is from 1 to 12 meters.

The cross-sectional area of corrugated pipes is determined by GOST 8642-68; accordingly, these products were divided into 36 different types sizes with a cross-sectional value within the range of 0.6 by 0.3 cm, and 0.9 by 3.2 cm.

By profile type they are divided into:

  • Options made of oval steel.
  • Products with a rectangular cross-section.
  • With a square section.

Video

Depending on the scope of application, these pipes are classified into:

  • Profiled pipes for furniture. The construction of them, as a rule, does not bear large loads.
  • Flat - oval types. Another name for them is an arch profile. It is distinguished by more complex manufacturing.
  • Options general purpose. They are made from hot-rolled one and a half millimeter strip. Such products are not subject to high requirements to surface quality.
  • Construction. For their production, hot-rolled and low-alloy steel is used, which is characterized by increased strength.

Square profile

Square steel profile pipe is widely used in construction field.

It is the square shape that is the main advantage in this situation. It provides high stability and speed of execution installation work.

These materials act as a reinforcing element during the construction of support structures and frames. They can be found not only in construction. They are no less often used in the mechanical engineering sector.

Square pipes are divided into the following types:

  1. seamless cold deformation or cold rolled.
  2. seamless hot deformation or hot rolled.
  3. profile products produced from sheet material and through welding technologies.

The range of such goods consists of products with a wall thickness of 0.1 to 1.4 cm, and a length of six to twelve meters. Craftsmen call this type of product a guarantee of compliance with the financial costs of construction and their minimization.

Rectangular profile

Profile rectangular pipe is a type of rectangular-shaped pipe rolling materials. This is a kind of subtype of square options. It is also a hollow metal profile with a variety of volume sizes and wall thicknesses.

They are used when assembling structures and building elements that play a load-bearing role. They are used for furniture frames, scaffolding for construction, children's areas and much more.

Features of forms and little weight products significantly reduces the mass of the main structure, but the resistance to the influence of high loads in this situation increases. They are often used as a protection channel for wiring a network of cables.

The main differences are determined by GOST 8645-78. According to these standards, there are the following rectangular pipes:

  • with unmeasured length;
  • with measured length;
  • assortment with short measured length.

Depending on the type, the length of seamless or welded materials varies from 11.5 to 12.5 meters:

  • Seamless corrugated pipes of unmeasured and measured length, made by hot-rolling - from 4 to 12.5 m.
  • Seamless pipes of unlimited length, made using the cold-drawn method - from 1.5 to 12.5 m. And measured pipes - from 4.5 to 11 meters.
  • Pipes of unmeasured length, made by electric welding - from 1.5 to 9 m, of measured length - from 5 to 9 m.

When working with such profile products Allowances of 0.5 cm are made for each part. The maximum indicator for exceeding the length level is generally 10 cm.

Electric welded profile

Electric-welded steel profile pipe is produced using different technological methods. The first of them is the formation of a profile from a flat workpiece. In this case, simple equipment is used, which is characterized by low energy costs. However, the resulting product has some disadvantages:

  1. uneven stress distribution in the transverse section.
  2. significant thinning of the profile blank in corner areas.

Change negative characteristics in in this case allow Hi-tech, which assume uniform stress distribution on the first initial stage. In this case, a round blank with the required volume is formed.

Secondary processing in this case involves the formation of a section of the required dimensions and shape through the pressure of special rolls.

Galvanized steel profile

Galvanized profile pipe is a special type of rolled metal. The galvanized profile has increased anti-corrosion characteristics, which extends its service life.

Video

The advantageous difference of a galvanized product is:

  • Speed of installation work and its convenience.
  • Increased strength.
  • Kink resistance.
  • Reducing the total weight of the structure without losing its strength capabilities.
  • Logistic convenience.

Their areas are very different, but the main ones are:

  • Construction of various scales.
  • Mechanical engineering.
  • Construction of prefabricated structures.

At the moment, this type of rolled metal can be found in billboards, fences, and retail premises. And everywhere these steel pipes fully respond to everyone regulatory requirements.

Manufacturing Features

The production of profile pipes is more complicated and more expensive than the production of round pipes.

Technological methods for producing professional pipes are:

  • Pressing round blanks produced in rolling mills. This option is expensive, therefore, the second type is more popular.
  • Welded joint strip profiles.

The first method is noteworthy in that it makes it possible to preserve the strength characteristics of steel pipes one hundred percent. The fact is that its connections are seamless. The production sequence using this method is as follows:

  • First, a conventional hot-rolled billet is produced with round shape.
  • Through the press it turns into an oval, takes on the shape of a square or rectangle.
  • Calibration of heated workpieces is carried out on the rollers of rolling equipment, so the products acquire the required dimensions.

Profiled pipes, which were manufactured using welding, are not very distinguishable from seamless analogues, but at the same time they lose up to 5 percent of strength. The release sequence in this case is as follows:

  1. Steel sheets are cut into strips.
  2. After this, such strips are rolled into a tape.
  3. It is fed into the rollers of molding machines, which deform flat sheets into professional blanks.
  4. The fastening seam is welded in special chambers filled with an inert medium.

Video

The main advantage of a professional pipe is its low cost and high strength. Buying these steel products will not be difficult. Managers of any company will provide all the information about their cost and characteristics.

Steel profile pipes are successfully used in the construction of commercial premises, warehouses, sports facilities, residential and industrial buildings. These products are used as supports, columns, and different elements all kinds of designs.

Their high strength makes them very popular for creating metal structures that are particularly complex. These products are deservedly very popular in the construction market.

Posts

All products are characterized by certain parameters. This also applies to water pipes. In addition, this type of product, such as profile pipes, also has its own differences, its own classification, its own technical characteristics, that is, dimensions, cross-sectional area, withstand load, material of manufacture, and so on.

Naturally, profile pipes during their production are regulated by GOSTs, so any deviation from their requirements is considered a defect.

Some classification

A profile pipe is any other type of pipe other than a standard round one. Big advantage of such varieties is that the cross-sectional area, having equal dimensions with round products, will be larger.
Such pipes have excellent technical characteristics, especially when it comes to their strength.
They are used in many areas of life: heavy and light industry, agricultural engineering, furniture production and many other industries.
The classification of these materials can be based on many characteristics, such as, for example, sizes, shapes, production methods, and so on. Let's look at this issue a little closer.
The following types are distinguished by form:

  • Square;
  • Oval;
  • Flat-oval, that is, those in which two sides are straight, and the other two are made in the form of arcs, that is, rounded;
  • Rectangular.

The general GOST for the manufacture of profile products is designated 13663-86. Depending on the shape, they are manufactured according to the following standards:
  • For square ones, GOST 8639-82 is applicable;
  • For rectangular ones, we apply GOST 8645-68;
  • For a flat-oval shape, we apply GOST 8644-68;
  • For oval, we apply GOST 8642-68.

Note! All such products are made from steel various types. It must also be said that each type of steel also has its own GOST.

If we talk about the production method, the profile pipe will have two types:

  • Electric welded;
  • Seamless.

Electric welding can have several types:

  • Thin-walled;
  • Thick-walled;
  • Having a galvanized surface and not galvanized;
  • Straight-seam and many others.

Seamless has the following types:
  • Seamless;
  • Hot rolled;
  • Galvanized and non-galvanized.

Cold rolled and hot rolled steel

A small caveat should be made here too. We will talk about the types of steel that are used to make these products a little lower, but it’s worth understanding the difference between cold-rolled and hot-rolled products.
At the initial stage, sheets are produced by hot rolling. The large original sheet is cut into smaller pieces or into strips. Cold-rolled steel is first processed, that is, the pickling process occurs first. Only after this the cold rolling process starts. For this reason, in the vast majority of cold-rolled steel, or rather a sheet of it, cannot be thicker than 4-5 mm. The area, like other parameters, can take on a wide variety of values, but the thickness has an upper limit. However, the surface of such steel products is much better.
Such sheets have constant thickness, whatever their area. In addition, there is no scale on them. It must also be said that the technical characteristics are much higher, since before cold rolling all steel materials undergo a hardening procedure. Accordingly, the load on products made from such material may be higher.

Seamless and electric welded

If you have figured out hot and cold rolled products, now all that remains is to figure out what seamless products are and what electric welded products are.

Electric welded products are obtained by molding and subsequent electric welding. They have seams that can be straight or spiral, hence the name - straight-seam and spiral-seam. These products can be made either from a sheet of low-alloy carbon steel or from a blank - strips.
The metal blank (sheet) is welded with its edges along one line. This is how straight-seam products are obtained. The spiral variety is obtained by winding a steel strip in a spiral.
Profile pipes of this type can be used to create gas mains. In this case, the maximum load is 16 MPa.
All such types have their own GOST manufacturing.
All products can be thick-walled or thin-walled. In this matter, the production process has no influence.
Seamless products are obtained by rolling a steel ingot. During this process, a hole is formed in the center, which is later calibrated in its shape and size.
It must be said that seamless products can be produced in several ways at once, for example, forging or rolling.
As in the first case, a seamless pipe can be thin-walled or thick-walled. The most important advantage that all seamless products have is their incredible strength, which is achieved due to the absence of a seam - the weakest point. Basically, seamless products are used where it is necessary to constantly deal with high loads, both internal and external. Seamless pipe has gained great popularity in the oil industry, as well as in the field of transporting highly aggressive media.

Some technical characteristics

The main ones include:

  • Profile form. There are rectangular, square and so on;
  • Dimensions, that is, height and width. Here it must be said that there is a GOST for this indicator, but manufacturers today produce profile pipes with any width and length;
  • Wall thickness. According to this parameter, it is divided into two types - thin-walled and thick-walled. This is an important parameter, since it determines the scope of application. The wall thickness is regulated according to GOST, but there are exceptions;
  • Weight. This is not just ease of transportation and operation. Weight determines product quality. Knowing the dimensions and weight, you can easily find out how thick its walls are, if this cannot be done by direct measurement.

What does the industry offer?

Today, the range offered by manufacturers is very wide. For example, consider products in accordance with GOSTs 30245-94, 8645-68, 8639-82, that is, electric welded pipes with in different forms sections.
Assortment of square products (this includes seamless and electric welded products):

  • External parameters are from 10 by 10 to 120 by 120. At the same time, both thick-walled and thin-walled are produced, wall thickness from 1 to 8 mm - this is for cold-deformed materials;
  • External parameters from 60 by 60 to 180 by 180. Wall thickness from 4 to 14 - this is for hot-rolled products;
  • External parameters range from 10 by 10 to 100 by 100. Both thick-walled and thin-walled are produced, wall thickness from 1 to 5 - this is for electric-welded materials.

All values here are in mm.
A rectangular pipe (this includes seamless and electric-welded pipes) has the following assortment:
  • Sizes from 10 by 15 mm with a thickness of 1 to 180 by 150 with a thickness of 12 mm;
  • Groups A and B. The first includes products made from steel grades St2 (4 kp/ps), and the second – St.2 (4 kp/ps), as well as 08 kp and 10-35.

Range of steel products (both thin-walled and thick-walled, GOST 30245-2003):

  • For square shape– from 4 by 4 cm with a thickness of 2 mm to 30 by 30 with a thickness of 14 mm;
  • The rectangular one has the following dimensions - from 5 by 2.5 cm to 40 by 20 cm, and the wall thickness is from 2 to 14 mm, respectively.

As you can see, there is plenty to choose from. And this is only part of the entire range of sizes, shapes and materials.

Wall thickness and other dimensions

In this article we have mentioned many times the concept of thin-walled or thick-walled. The whole point is this: for different sizes the same thickness can be either small or large. Hence the names.
Naturally, thick-walled products will cost more, since more material is spent on their production.
The wall thickness can range from 1 to 14 mm.
It must be said that depending on the type, the dimensions also change:

  • Cold rolled – wall thickness from 1 to 8, dimensions from 1 to 12 cm;
  • Hot rolled products – wall thickness from 4 to 14 mm, dimensions from 6 to 18 cm;
  • Electric welding – wall thickness from 1 to 5 mm, dimensions from 1 to 10 cm.

Most existing standard sizes are shown in the table below:

The length of the material also has some dependence on the production method. This figure ranges from one and a half meters to 12.5.
There is also a classification based on length:
  • Measured length;
  • Unmeasured length;
  • Multiple measured.

For materials with measured or multiple measured lengths, it is customary to add a margin of 5 mm. For this reason, the finished product at the exit may be 10 cm longer than expected.

The scope of application of profile pipes is extremely diverse, so it is worth talking about their advantages and disadvantages in more detail. In this material we will talk about the range of profiled pipes, as well as what qualities of products you should pay attention to when purchasing them.

The very concept of “assortment” implies a wide variety of varieties and types of certain products, and in this context – profile pipes. As a rule, it helps to determine the presence various types products classified according to a number of parameters, which are presented by manufacturers or at wholesale or retail points of sale.

The full range of profile pipes includes all names of these products, manufactured in accordance with GOSTs, without exception, and also describes the quality characteristics of each category in all possible modifications.

In general, the classification of profile pipes can be carried out according to various indicators. One of the most significant characteristics is the profile shape.

There are the following types of products:

  • oval;
  • flat oval;
  • square;
  • rectangular shape;
  • with hollow ribs;
  • with a specially shaped profile.

It is worth noting that the range of steel profile pipes is developed separately for each type of profile in full compliance with GOSTs.

In addition, the variety of profile pipes is also determined by such factors as:

  • method of production of pipe products - welded, cold- or hot-rolled);
  • raw materials from which pipes are made;
  • methods for processing end parts;
  • industry where the use of certain types of pipes is envisaged.

By the size of the product range presented on the market by the manufacturer, one can judge its potential, capabilities and scale of production. And although expanding the list requires significant costs, it still indicates the stability of the enterprise.

Detailed description of the assortment

Profile pipes have found very widespread use in the process of assembling metal structures for various industrial facilities. They are not only capable of replacing bars used for load-bearing structures, but also have a small weight and are inexpensive.

In addition, when choosing the type of pipes, it is worth considering the weight linear meter such products.

Most often, square rectangular pipes with the following parameters are in demand:

  • 15×15 mm;
  • 20×20 mm;
  • 25×25 mm;
  • 30×30 mm;
  • 40×40 mm;
  • 60×60 mm;
  • 80×80 mm;
  • 100×160 mm;

Advantages and disadvantages of various profiled pipes

All pipes whose cross-sectional shape is not round are called profiled. The most common types are square rectangular steel pipes. The most common profile sizes are 25, 60, 100 mm and 40×80 mm, 50×50 mm and 40×100 mm.

It is worth noting that thanks to the variety of standard sizes of profiled pipes produced, it has become possible to construct increasingly complex structures.

Among the main advantages of profile pipes are:

  • low metal content, which allows saving up to 25% of raw materials for the construction of a particular facility;
  • due to the ease of installation, the construction of the structure is carried out very quickly;
  • convenience in sanitary and antiseptic treatment, hygiene;
  • full compliance with standards fire safety;
  • possibility of assembling structures of increased complexity.

Area of use of profile pipes

Due to the variety of sections and shapes of profile pipes, their scope of application is extremely wide.

In particular, the use of such products would be appropriate in the following cases:

  1. To assemble the frame of buildings, if there is a need to save metal, profile pipes with a cross-section of 60×30 mm are often used.
  2. Pipes with dimensions of 15×15 mm, 40×60 mm, 60 mm and 100 mm are acceptable as structural elements.
  3. Among the advantages of products with parameters 25 × 25 mm and others, one can name the moment of resistance of a profile pipe, that is, its strength, low weight, high speed and ease of assembly of metal structures from them, as well as high tightness.
  4. The good performance characteristics of profile pipes, as well as their versatility, make it possible to use them in almost any field of activity. In particular, profiled products with dimensions of 25×250 mm are actively used in the mechanical engineering industry. But 60x30 mm pipes are in demand for assembling billboards and banners.
  5. In the construction of large housing facilities, public buildings, as well as storage facilities and garages, pipes with parameters 40×60 mm, as well as many other types, are in great demand.

Thus, it can be noted that the pipes various profiles, in particular square, rectangular and other types, are very common in the construction of facilities for various purposes. If you need to build lightweight partitions or structures that will not bear a large load, then profiled pipes with thin walls are perfect for these purposes.
