School reading: "In the village." School reading: “In the Village” Ivan Bunin in the Village read a summary

Ivan Alekseevich Bunin is a famous Russian writer, Nobel Prize laureate. In his works, he reflected the impoverishment of the Russian village after the revolutionary events (1905), oblivion and loss of the moral foundations of people's lives. The author was one of the first to grasp what changes were coming in Russia and how they would affect its society.

Bunin depicts the cruel face of the Russian village in his works. “The Village,” the theme of which is “the life and way of life of peasants after the abolition of serfdom,” is a story about the fate of two brothers. Each of them chose their own They were descendants Here is a brief summary.

"Village". Bunin - meeting the Krasov brothers

The story takes place at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. The main characters are two brothers, Kuzma and Tikhon, born and raised in the village of Durnovka. Once upon a time they had a common cause - they were engaged in trade. Then a quarrel occurred, and the brothers parted ways. Tikhon rented an inn, opened a shop and a tavern. He bought land and bread from landowners for next to nothing and soon became a fairly wealthy man. Having become rich, the merchant bought a manor estate.

The second brother, Kuzma, went to work for hire. By nature he was very different from his relative. Since childhood, Kuzma has been drawn to literacy and read books. He dreamed of becoming an educated person, he liked to take part in literary disputes. Gramotey dreamed of becoming a great writer and poet. Once he even took up writing and published a simple book of his creations. The product was not in demand. Kuzma did not have money to further develop his writing career. He spent many years in a fruitless search for work. Life wasn't going well, and he started drinking.

Brothers together again

After several years of long separation, Tikhon decided to find his brother. His life also cannot be called happy. Wealth did not bring him joy. The wife was sick and gave birth only to stillborn girls. He had no one to leave his large farm to. He found consolation from the village everyday life in a tavern. Tikhon began to drink slowly. At this time, he looks for his brother and invites him to take over the management of the estate.

At a difficult time for Russia, Bunin wrote his story “The Village”. A brief summary cannot convey the full tragedy of the fate of former peasants who could not find themselves in the new post-revolutionary world.

Kuzma's life in Durnovka

Kuzma accepted Tikhon's invitation and moved to live in Durnovka. During the day he read newspapers and took notes about everything that was happening around him. And at night he walked around with a mallet - guarding the estate. Tikhon appeared rarely now. At first, Kuzma liked such a quiet life.

But soon he was overcome by boredom from the fact that there was no one to even exchange a word with. The only living creature in the house was the cook Avdotya. But she was always silent. And even when Kuzma fell ill, she went to sleep in the common room, leaving him in a helpless state. We are not destined to understand Kuzma’s loneliness and abandonment by reading only a short summary. Bunin’s “Village” shows us a deep image of a sympathetic, but useless person.

Tikhon “cares” about Avdotya’s fate

As soon as Kuzma recovered from his illness, he went to his brother. He received him warmly, but showed no interest in his brother’s life.

The fact is that Tikhon’s thoughts were occupied with the arrangement of the fate of the cook Avdotya. Many years ago, he took possession of her by force, thereby disgracing her in front of the entire village. After this, the girl got married, but her life did not work out. Her husband beat her severely, apparently in retaliation for her shame. When the tyrant died, Tikhon decided to help Avdotya get married again and chose Deniska, a mismanagement and cruel man who beats even his own father, as his groom. Thus, the master hoped to atone for his sin of youth.

Even a brief summary can convey all the uselessness and stupidity of this ridiculous idea. Bunin's "Village" shows us the death of centuries-old moral principles in a post-revolutionary society.

Avdotya's wedding

Kuzma, having heard about his brother’s intentions, tried to dissuade Avdotya from this idea. She herself was in no hurry to get married, but it was inconvenient for her to refuse. After all, Tikhon Ilyich has already incurred expenses. A wedding that no one wanted took place. Kuzma blessed the woman to the crown with tears. Avdotya sobbed bitterly, mourning her unenviable lot. Drunken wedding guests sang and danced. And outside the window the February blizzard howled and raged.

Here's a summary. “Village” by I. A. Bunin was written more than 100 years ago. Since then, a lot has changed in our lives. But they remain the same. Therefore, the story does not lose relevance even today.

Russia. The end of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th century.

The Krasov brothers, Tikhon and Kuzma, were born in the small village of Durnovka. In their youth, they were engaged in small trade together, then they quarreled, and their paths diverged. Kuzma went to work for hire. Tikhon rented an inn, opened a tavern and a shop, began buying standing grain from landowners, acquiring land for next to nothing, and, becoming a fairly wealthy owner, even bought a manorial estate from an impoverished descendant of the previous owners. But all this did not bring him joy: his wife gave birth only to dead girls, and there was no one to leave everything he had acquired. Tikhon did not find any consolation in the dark, dirty village life, except the tavern. Started drinking. By the age of fifty, he realized that from the passing years there was nothing to remember, that there was not a single close person and that he himself was a stranger to everyone. Then Tikhon decided to make peace with his brother.

Kuzma was a completely different person by character. Since childhood, he dreamed of studying. A neighbor taught him to read and write, a market “freethinker”, an old accordion player, supplied him with books and introduced him to disputes about literature. Kuzma wanted to describe his life in all its poverty and terrible routine. He tried to compose a story, then began to write poetry and even published a book of simple verses, but he himself understood all the imperfections of his creations. And this business did not bring in income, and a piece of bread was not given for nothing. Many years passed in search of work, often fruitless. Having seen enough of human cruelty and indifference in his travels, he started drinking, began to sink lower and lower and came to the conclusion that he must either go to a monastery or commit suicide.

Here Tikhon found him, and invited his brother to take over the management of the estate. It seems that a quiet month has been found -

Then, having settled in Durnovka, Kuzma became happier. At night he walked with a mallet - he guarded the estate, during the day he read newspapers and made notes in an old office book about what he saw and heard around him. But gradually melancholy began to overcome him: there was no one to talk to. Tikhon appeared rarely, talking only about the farm, about the meanness and malice of the men and about the need to sell the estate. The cook Avdotya, the only living creature in the house, was always silent, and when Kuzma became seriously ill, leaving him to his own devices, without any sympathy she went to spend the night in the common room.

The wedding took place as usual. The bride wept bitterly, Kuzma blessed her with tears, the guests drank vodka and sang songs. The irrepressible February blizzard accompanied the wedding train to the sad ringing of bells.

Once upon a time, two brothers lived in Russia: Tikhon and Kuzma. The Krasovs were born in the village of Durnovka. They worked together, traded, but then somehow they didn’t find a common language and everyone went their own way. Kuzma found the owner and worked for him, and Tikhon turned around a little wider. He opened a local tavern and shop, began acquiring land, and later bought his own estate from an impoverished descendant of landowners. Became a real master. But all this did not bring him happiness. A lot of grief happened in the family - girls were born dead, and therefore Tikhon had no heirs. He began to drink often. And at the age of fifty he decided that he couldn’t find a brother closer to him and that they urgently needed to make peace.

The brothers were completely different in character. Kuzma loved to study and read a lot. I tried to become a writer, wrote poetry, but I couldn’t make money from it. I spent a long time looking for myself in different jobs, but to no avail. He began to wash down his imperfect fate with alcohol with friends, and as a result, he was planning to go to a monastery or become a suicide.

During this period, Tikhon found his brother. He offered him a job as manager of his estate in Durnovka. Kuzma readily agreed. At night he guarded the land, and during the day he enjoyed his favorite reading of newspapers. But over time, Kuzma got bored. There’s no one to even exchange a word with. The brother rarely came; among the people in the house he saw only the cook Avdotya, who was silent all the time. And when Kuzma became very ill, there was no one to look after him.

As soon as Kuzma began to recover, he immediately went to Tikhon. The conversation didn't work out. The brothers rarely understood each other. Tikhon asked his brother to help organize the wedding of Avdotya, to whom he had once offended. Having cheated on his wife with this girl, Tikhon dreamed of children, but nothing worked out for them, and Avdotya found only shame for the whole village. Kuzma didn't like this idea. As a groom for the offended woman, Tikhon chose a very cruel man. But the brother stubbornly stood his ground. Avdotya also had to submit.

The wedding took place according to all customs. Looking at the unfortunate woman and blessing her, Kuzma could not hold back his tears. The blizzard rustled outside the window, and the guests walked and sang songs.

Village Essay on Bunin’s psychological story “Village”

Based on the destinies of two brothers Kuzma and Tikhon, the problems of peasants are presented. During the disputes between the main characters about themselves and their existence, the writer reveals the whole essence of the life of the Russian peasantry, showing the devastation and impoverishment of villages in Russia at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Bunin pays special attention to the description of the brothers during a period of crisis for them. An unsuccessful life leads them to one thought: that no one needs them. Such was the fate of all ordinary men of that time.

In his work, the writer tries to convey to us that no matter how a person complains about fate, it just needs to be changed. But before you do anything, you need to change yourself: thoughts, feelings, consciousness. And then fortune will smile on you.

Read Summary of the story Bunin's Village

The beginning of the work tells us the story of the Krasov family.

Their great-grandfather was hunted down by dogs because he dared to frolic with the master’s mistress. My grandfather managed to become a free peasant, but became famous for his thieves. The father tried to run a trading business, but soon went bankrupt. And he was left with two sons - Tikhon and Kuzma, who will be discussed throughout the book. When they were young, they were also traders. But having quarreled strongly with each other, they fled in different directions. Everyone lived their own lives.

Kuzma became a hired worker, and Tikhon became a wealthy owner and lived in the estate of the bankrupt former master. Everything was fine, but his wife always gave birth to dead girls. And Tikhon therefore yearned for who would have all this wealth. Such a life did not bring him any satisfaction, except for the tavern, where he drank all day long. And at fifty years old, he realized that no one needed him. Then Tikhon remembered his brother, with whom he decided to come to reconciliation.

Arriving in the city, he learns that Kuzma was in the service of the landowner Kasatkin, and even published in magazines. Having met at Daev’s tavern, the brothers had an important conversation.

Kuzma, unlike Tikhon, loved to study from an early age. A man who lived next door to their family taught him to write and read, an old accordion player brought him books and taught him to analyze what he read. Kuzma wanted to describe in his works the miserable existence of village peasants, but later came to the conclusion that his works were not perfect in style and content. And he received pennies for them. Disillusioned with his work, Kuzma began to get involved in alcoholic beverages. And he had bad thoughts, either he wanted to become a hermit in a quiet monastery, or he wanted to commit suicide.

It was in this state that Tikhon found him, inviting him to manage the estate. Having settled down in Durnovka, Kuzma is in excellent spirits. At night he guarded the estate, and during the day he looked through the press, eavesdropped and spied on everyone, and wrote down all the information in the office book.

So day after day went on, and he began to get tired of it all. There was no one to talk to, to discuss pressing issues. Tikhon rarely came, and conversations with him were boring and often embittered. Even the cook abandoned him when he got sick.

Having barely recovered from his illness, Kuzma went to his brother. But he did not find understanding from him. Tikhon did not listen to Kuzma; instead of discussing political events, he had one goal - to marry Avdotya to some guy from Durnovka. A long time ago, Tikhon seduced the cook so that she would bear him a child. The woman’s unsuccessful birth not only disappointed him, but also shame covered Avdotya’s head. Tikhon, atonement for his sin, began to go to church, which he had almost never gone to before.

The brother asked Kuzma to arrange this wedding. But Kuzma does not want to take on this matter.

He feels sorry for Avdotya, because the groom chosen for her was a cruel character and a slacker who agreed to marry her only because of the dowry. Tikhon insists. The girl has no choice but to agree. Kuzma also did not oppose his brother.

The matchmaking went very quickly, and the event was celebrated as expected. The newlywed cried bitter tears, and even the February blizzard hinted at the future dreary life of Young.
