How to build a simple gazebo from pallets without much effort. Wooden gazebo made from pallets for a summer residence: construction in stages How to make a roof on a gazebo from pallets

Summer is approaching, trips to Vacation home or to the dacha. On warm sunny days you hardly want to be confined within four walls; it is much more pleasant and healthy to breathe in the fresh country air. An attractive and easily implementable idea is to build a gazebo. For self-arrangement, the design made from pallets is best suited.

Such a simple structure will allow you to sit comfortably with a gadget or book, or place a container with a refreshing drink on a stable surface. Neither rain nor scorching sun will prevent you from having a pleasant time in the company of friends or while away the evening alone, enjoying nature.

Construction material

The direct purpose of pallets is to simplify the reloading and transportation of various goods: bags, boxes, boxes, etc. Pallets are durable, allowing them to be used for the construction of summer structures, for example, gazebos. They are durable, repairable, have a clear geometry, and are inexpensive.

Before use, the pallets are cleaned of dirt and dust and repaired if necessary. Restoring wooden containers involves replacing damaged boards, adding missing boards, and strengthening loose structural elements. A grinding tool will help you achieve a smooth surface quickly and easily.

Treatment can extend the service life of a future building. wooden parts special protective compounds, which prevent the appearance of rot and harmful effects insects

These products are sold at any hardware store.

Key stages of construction of a gazebo

The construction of even a small structure requires drawing up a project. Placement of the facility, supply of necessary networks and communications, calculation of the amount of materials - all this is determined at the design stage. So, the sequence of work:

  1. Selection of pallets for the gazebo.
  2. Development of construction design.
  3. Production of drawings based on architectural requests.
  4. Direct construction of the object.
  5. Improvement of the building.

Choosing pallets

Below is a classification of the most common products.

Euro pallet sizes

Pallets: 1 — “Eurosize”, 2 — “Eurostandard”

The length and width of wooden packaging can be different (for a certified Euro pallet these dimensions are 120 and 80 cm, respectively), the standard height is 14.5 cm.

Finnish and American pallets

Finnish pallet sizes

The length of the final pallet is 120 cm, width - 100 cm. When building a gazebo from American-style pallets, consider other dimensions: 120 x 120 cm.

American pallet sizes

Whatever choice is made, the advantages of such a building are obvious:

  • Ecologically pure material will not cause harm to health, will organically fit into the countryside exterior and will give comfort.
  • The design allows sunlight and fresh air to pass through, creating a feeling of unity with nature.
  • You can build a gazebo from pallets with your own hands. Even for a novice master it will take 2-3 days.

Design project

This stage opens up endless possibilities for creativity. The material chosen for construction is reminiscent of design elements, and accordingly, many design options are obtained.

This version of the gazebo illustrates that quite decent structures can be made from pallets, if only there was an idea.

Perhaps it will be a simple quadrangular house, “Baba Yaga’s hut” or a multifaceted gazebo consisting of six or more corners. Various modifications are available, limited only by the author’s imagination.

Drawing

After defining architectural forms It's time to put the gazebo project on paper. Full project documentation V in this case is not required, but it is highly desirable to make a drawing with structural sections of the structure.

Also on the plan land plot you can draw the contours of the future building to evaluate the overall concept landscape design territories. In the simplest graphic editors, you can make a 3D visualization of the gazebo and see what the structure will look like on the ground.

Foundation

A start

A timber base is laid around the perimeter of the building and secured with screws or anchor bolts to the foundation, and between themselves - using strapping. The photo on the left shows this stage.

Only durable boards that can withstand heavy loads are suitable for this. Ruberoid or protective film under the base will protect the structure from moisture. Bottom harness The gazebo is ready, now the corner posts are placed on it and secured with screws.

If the structure is massive, the supports are duplicated in the middle of the future walls. The fasteners are the same - cap screws. The installation of the roof frame is carried out after the installation of the pillars is completed. When erecting walls, pallets with timber and among themselves are fixed with cap screws. The construction of the wall is carried out depending on the purpose of the gazebo - in a one- or two-layer structure.

Polycarbonate, roofing felt, tiles, slate are suitable for the roof. Each material has its own advantages. The polymer is produced in a variety of color scheme, so it’s easy to choose an option that suits the color scheme. It attaches easily and can withstand high temperatures. A roof made of roofing felt is easy to install, inexpensive, but not very attractive in appearance and does not fit into every landscape. Laying slate alone is labor-intensive, and installing shingles takes a long time. The best option– polycarbonate roof, as in the photo.

Finishing touches

Floors, as a rule, are also made from pallets or use terrace board. A special composition is applied to the wood to protect it from fungus, mold, and insects, then it is coated with varnish or paint. This treatment will extend the service life significantly.

The walls are being painted acrylic paints or varnished, which emphasizes the natural beauty of a wooden structure and increases the durability of the materials.

A gazebo is a place to relax at any time of the day, including evening and night, so you can’t do without light here. The main thing when it comes to electricity is safety. Special attention pay attention to protecting the cable from moisture and water, making reliable insulation.

The final stage will be a path made from the remains of pallets, laid to the recreation area. At the site of the future path, the ground is leveled, a small sand cushion To drain water, pallets treated with stain are placed on top.

Summer gazebo on suburban area ready - it's time to go get the grill!

One of the quite popular attributes of personal plots is a gazebo. It is often ordered from craftsmen, but in the same way this structure can not be very difficult to make from pallets used for transporting and storing goods.

A private house and dacha are places where people quite often take a break from the bustle of the city, worries and a lot of different things to do.

Therefore, it is very important that coziness and comfort reign here. To do this, you don’t have to spend a lot of money, because it’s enough to simply make everything from scrap materials, without always sacrificing the beautiful appearance or aesthetics of the products.

One of the quite popular attributes of personal plots is a gazebo.

It is often ordered from craftsmen, but in the same way this structure can not be very difficult to make from pallets used for transporting and storing goods. The main thing is to understand the entire process of installing the structure, strictly following the instructions and recommendations of experienced specialists.

How to make a gazebo from pallets with your own hands

Advantages and disadvantages of pallets and products made from them

First of all, when deciding what to make a gazebo from at home, you need to pay attention to the advantages of each method. If we look at the option of installing a structure made from pallets, it is characterized by the following: positive traits, How:

  • environmental friendliness, since these improvised means are made from ordinary wood;
  • attractiveness, originality and a certain uniqueness, since it is quite rare to find such gazebos that are unlike other gazebos;
  • ease of installation, because no special skills are required;
  • ease of subsequent processing and care of the created product.

It is also worth noting that not all pallets and trays can be used to build gazebos. Exception from general rule are products bearing the IPPC mark. It means that these parts have been treated with special chemicals that prevent them from being reused. Over time, such pallets begin to evaporate toxic substances that may be unsafe for humans. It is also worth pointing out that installing a gazebo from pallets and trays is not the best way.

The disadvantages of such construction are that after a few years the tree will require more and more care in the form of treatment with special substances against rotting, mold and microorganisms, painting, etc. In such a structure it will not be possible to hide from winds and bad weather conditions, since in essence it is a fairly open space.

DIY pallets or using purchased materials

Quite often, when a person decides to build a gazebo from pallets, he does not understand what materials should be used for this. In this regard, there are two options for solving the problem - purchasing finished products or producing your own future ones. structural elements structures.

If you are completely focused on the low cost of constructing a gazebo, you need to find used pallets and pallets that are often free. In this case, you should be extremely selective - they can be significantly damaged. In addition, often after many years of use they give off a rather unpleasant odor.

The worst products can be used for other purposes in the country - for building a chicken coop, cages for rabbits, etc. Withdraw bad smell from wooden products used in ports or markets is almost impossible. Therefore, it is best not to use them for installing gazebos. If this is done, even constant ventilation will not help for a comfortable stay in this building. If you make pallets yourself, spending money will not be very large. At the same time, it’s worth stocking up on a lot of free time.

Among the advantages of this method of constructing a gazebo is the quality. Often this allows you to extend the life of the structure by more than one and a half decades. You can also purchase ready-made new pallets. You can buy or order them almost everywhere. The quality of these products is also quite good. But at the same time you will need to pay a relatively large amount of money for them.

Instructions for creating a gazebo

In order for the gazebo made of pallets to serve long term and was quite an attractive object, it is necessary to strictly follow the rules for its construction. They are based primarily on the experience of those people who have encountered the installation of pallet structures. The construction process itself is not complicated if you think through everything first and take into account all the nuances of creating a given architectural object.

Building configuration

There are several possible options building configurations, but the most popular are the following:

  1. Creating a gazebo from solid pallets, which are attached only to additional elements, creating the frame of the object. They are most often wooden or metal support posts and beams. In this case, the space turns out to be quite closed.
  2. Creating a gazebo from pallets, using them only for the roof and base. The installation of walls with this configuration of the building is not provided, which makes the structure very open and does not allow hiding what will happen in it in the future.
  3. Creating a gazebo from pallet elements. That is, the structures themselves must first be disassembled into their component parts - boards. From them it is already necessary to construct a structure in a free order. In this case it appearance can be almost anything. The only disadvantage of this method is that it requires more time to implement.

To determine the quantity necessary materials, you should understand what dimensions standard pallets have. Most often they are made in dimensions of 120x80 centimeters. Thus, taking these data as a basis, the gazebo can be planned in the form of a square with a side of 240 or 360 centimeters. In this case, the amount of residue will be quite small, which can significantly save both money and time for installation. Before you start work, it is best to create a rough or fairly clear drawing of the future structure.

Site preparation

A fairly important part of the entire work of constructing a gazebo is preparing the site on which it will stand. This process requires the following work:

  1. Complete cleaning of the construction area. This applies not only to garbage, stones and plantings, but also to the grass itself.
  2. Leveling the area. For this you can use earth and crushed stone. They need to be compacted if there are any holes in the intended area for constructing the gazebo.
  3. Preparation of pits for installation of support pillars or piles. They must be placed in vertical view, without deviating at all from the axis. This is due to the fact that pallets are rectangles. That is, any inaccuracy will subsequently lead to significant installation difficulties. The pillars must be connected at the top by beams, which represent the upper ligament. In the future, the roof sheathing of the structure will be located on them.
  4. The floor can be built directly on the ground, or raised on a small foundation. In the first case, the soil should be covered with sand. This won't prevent the wood from getting wet, but it will at least help it last longer. In the second case, you can pour concrete at several points around the perimeter, on which you can lay the lower beams. This will significantly increase the service life of the gazebo, since rainwater and wet ground will not fall on.

If there is a lot of clay in the ground or there is a pond not far from the future gazebo, it is best to use piles. For ease of installation, you should choose screw products that screw into the ground.

Construction

The gazebo frame is most often created from wooden beams. It is best to choose products whose cut is 100x100 millimeters.

The walls themselves are built from pallets. They can be arranged in one, two or even three rows. Due to the large size of these elements, this part of the construction process occurs quickly.

The main thing is to follow the plan.

To check correct installation, use building level and roulette. Fastening can be done in various ways.

I do this using anchors, capscrews or ordinary screws. Pallets can be fastened together using both nails and self-tapping screws.

Creation process It is possible to create panels from pallets on the ground, after which they can be installed in a vertical plane for walls. They cannot be used as a roof, but at the same time they make a pretty good sheathing for the roof. For it you can use slate, corrugated sheeting or regular tarpaulin. For more aesthetically pleasing inner part The sheathing of the gazebo roof can be sheathed with chipboard panels.

Decoration

If the pallets were new and did not have any damage, the gazebo from them will turn out quite attractive in itself. But you shouldn’t limit yourself to this, as it can be further decorated. To do this, use the following elements:

  1. Curtains made of fabric material.
  2. Climbing plants that can be planted around the perimeter of the structure.
  3. Installation of flowers in pots, for which you can create special niches.
  4. Using specially prepared covers and pillows for gazebo furniture.
  5. Placement of some decorative details throughout the structure: candles, figurines, homemade crafts.
  6. Installation of lighting fixtures.

A gazebo looks most beautiful in a garden or near a private house when its walls also serve as a support for climbing plants. These can be both annual and perennial flowers and bushes. During the flowering period, they provide an unforgettable look this building from pallets.

How to extend the service life of a structure

Wood is a material that requires proper care. If it is not provided, its service life may be reduced several times. Therefore, it is very important before constructing a gazebo to extend its service life to carry out several preparatory work. Among them are the following:

As chemicals for preserving wood, special compounds designed for this purpose should be used. They are sold everywhere in many construction stores. This stage cannot be ignored, as it significantly extends the service life of the structure. Using wood stain

Additionally, to give a more aesthetic appearance to the entire structure, you can use stain. It helps the wood look more natural and attractive.

Conclusion

A gazebo made from pallets is an opportunity to create a truly beautiful small architectural object for fairly little money. country house or dachas.

At proper care and processing, this design can last for decades. Therefore, it is far from necessary to save large financial resources in order to create an original, comfortable and cozy place for spending free time and relaxation.published

If you have any questions on this topic, ask them to the experts and readers of our project.

Cozy corner for relaxing in the fresh air - it is always convenient, practical and comfortable. However, building a gazebo can cost a pretty penny. Construction materials cost a lot, and you also need to buy a couple of comfortable sofas or a table. What to do? Of course, build it yourself.

Today we will talk about making pallets. This is a cheap, and sometimes even free, building material that no one needs. Such gazebos are inexpensive, but you will have to put in a little effort. But the new gazebo will be a great occasion for another meeting with friends and, perhaps, will become the most favorite corner of your dacha.

Pallets: application features

A do-it-yourself gazebo made from pallets is a wonderful way out for those who know how to hold a hammer in their hands and like to make things. Why should you choose this particular material for construction? Let's figure it out.

Pallets (or, in other words, pallets) are prefabricated wooden structures, which serve as packaging material for large-sized cargo. These are rigidly knocked down boards that are not arranged as a continuous sheet, but at some distance from each other, in the form of a lattice. The weight of one such structure can range from 15 to 22 kg. It all depends on the size.

There are several standard sizes of the finished pallet:

  • standard (ISO) or English - 120x100x14 cm;
  • Euro pallet - 120x80x14 cm;
  • EURO standard - 80x60x14 cm;
  • EURO enlarged - 120x120x14 cm.

Although the thickness shown here is 14 cm, in reality this size can vary from 12 to 14.4 cm.

Since strong and durable wood is used to make pallets, one such structure can withstand a weight of up to 1000 kg. We, of course, don’t need that much, but this fact suggests that a gazebo made from pallets will be strong and durable.

Where to get the material

As already mentioned, pallets are packaging material. If any structure has been slightly damaged or weakened by loads, it can no longer be used for packaging. Therefore, broken pallets are most often disposed of. But if you decide to build your gazebos inexpensively, this option is quite suitable for you.

Get it at your disposal required quantity pallets can be used in several ways:

  • collect them yourself; if you have a large number of boards of different sizes and several bars, 70-80 mm thick, you can easily put together necessary designs on one's own;
  • buy used pallets; on various websites and message boards you can easily find a huge number of offers; the cost of a piece, depending on the quality and condition, can vary from 20 to 150 rubles;
  • get it for free; you will have to work hard for this - try to find several transport companies and manufacturers that use such packaging, contact them; many of them will gladly give you the wooden “scrap” for free, just to save themselves the cost of disposal.

Preparing pallets for work

Building gazebos is not a difficult task. But in order for the result of your efforts to please you, the pallets need to be prepared.

  1. First of all, they need to be cleaned of dirt and dust. Then check each pallet for strength.
  2. It is likely that some of them will require repairs. In order not to waste money, you can disassemble the most “broken-down” one into boards and use it as spare parts.
  3. Cleaned and repaired pallets must be thoroughly sanded to remove even the smallest burrs.
  4. Perhaps your design requires the presence of separate boards - then some pallets need to be completely disassembled and carefully sanded each board separately.
  5. Now the wood should be processed. Since the gazebo made from pallets will always stand in the yard and be exposed to atmospheric precipitation, the wood needs to be protected. To do this, all pallets need to be thoroughly impregnated with special antiseptic and water-repellent compounds. If this is not done, your pallet gazebo will very quickly begin to rot, and the wood will become gray and unattractive.
  6. The last stage of preparation is coloring. You can paint all pallets in bright colors, or you can use stain - this will emphasize the natural structure of the wood and additionally impregnate it. At the end of the preparatory work, we coat everything with varnish.

Tools and materials

Well, the raw materials for the gazebo are prepared, now we’ll assemble them necessary tools and materials:

  • actual pallets (pallets);
  • several beams 80x80 mm for vertical posts;
  • timber 100x100 mm for constructing a floor frame;
  • some concrete;
  • several anchor bolts;
  • wood primer;
  • stain or paint;
  • drills of various diameters;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • bolts and (many and different);
  • brushes;
  • measuring instruments - ruler, tape measure, pencil;
  • hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • or a lot of sandpaper;
  • different sizes.

Drawing a project

Even before the start of construction, it is necessary to draw a design for the future gazebo. They do this in order to calculate correctly required amount building material. Of course, changes can be made during the construction process, but general dimensions and the concept must be clear in advance.

For example, the octagonal gazebo looks very original. However, there is not a place for such an arbor on every site. Most summer residents still opt for the more traditional rectangular option.

You also need to think about the availability of furniture and its location in advance. By the way, a table and sofas for your gazebo can also be made from pallets.

Base and frame

Now we proceed directly to construction. First of all, you need to clear the selected area of grass and stones. Now you can begin arranging the base. It is advisable that the floor in the gazebo be placed on small stilts or on a concrete pad. If the flooring is located directly on the ground, the boards will quickly rot and everything will have to be repaired.

We dig holes to install concrete supports. It is enough to arrange piles with a depth of 30 cm and a cross-section of 20x20 cm. The distance between the supports is 100-120 cm.

Let's prepare concrete mortar. To do this, mix cement, sand and crushed stone in a ratio of 1:3:3. We drive several reinforcements vertically into the holes and insert a “glass” made of boards or roofing felt. This will be the formwork. Pour the concrete and wait a few days for the solution to completely harden. By the way, when pouring piles, do not forget to check all horizontal lines using a level, otherwise your floor will turn out crooked.

Now it's time to build the floor frame. To do this, we take 100x100 mm beams (joists) and lay them on piles around the perimeter. We fasten the logs together, and also fasten them to the pile columns with the help of everything. We measure everything strictly according to the level.

We sew up the gaps between the joists with boards.

Now we install the corner posts vertically and make a transverse strapping on top.

Attention! When constructing a frame, it is best to use screws. It is best to avoid nails, otherwise such a structure may become unstable over time.

Walls and roof

To make your DIY pallet gazebo look beautiful and complete, it, of course, needs walls. Here you can consider several options, it all depends on your desire:

  • all three sides are completely closed; here the pallets are placed in two layers, with the second layer covering the gaps in the first; thus, only the front part remains open; you must admit, it’s quite gloomy and uncomfortable, but some people like it;
  • the back part of the wall is completely “blank”, and the sides along the entire perimeter have a height of 80-120 cm and look like a railing;
  • most open option— a gazebo made of pallets has only a floor and a roof, there are no walls at all; to be honest, not too much either cozy option, but as spacious and open as possible.

The second option is still most often used. In this case, the pallets are installed on the floor in one row. If you place them horizontally, the height of the sides will be 80 cm, and if placed vertically - 120 cm. The pallets are first nailed to load-bearing structures, and then fastened together.

Now we move on to arranging the roof. If you follow the path of least resistance, then a lean-to structure with a slight slope (no more than 15˚) is quite suitable. The roof can also be made gable or ledges, but this requires more serious construction skills. For lathing we use 50x50 mm beams or those left over from disassembled pallets.

All that remains is to cover our gazebo. Here, too, you can use several options:

  • polycarbonate is a light-transmitting material similar to plastic;
  • slate;
  • boards from disassembled pallets; in this case, it is best to lay them slightly overlapping - this is both more beautiful and more practical; in case of rain, water will not get between the joints.

Before laying the finishing wooden covering, it is best to cover the sheathing protective material- roofing felt or moisture-proof film.

Final decor

So our gazebo is ready - simple and beautiful. And to make your vacation spot look even better, you can further decorate it.

It would be nice to arrange a vertical garden in the gaps of the pallets - it can be planted both inside and outside. You can paint the walls bright colors or simply renew the varnish if it was damaged during the installation process.

If your gazebo has a place for a barbecue, you can cover it decorative tiles or a stone.

The classic option is to plant grapes around the gazebo. Over time it will grow and create additional shade. This is especially true for gazebos, covered with polycarbonate. Due to the plastic “dead” roof, they can get quite hot.

Other ways to use pallets

As you already understand, building gazebos is not the only option for using pallets.

You can build anything from them, for example, country furniture. Using pallets, you can equip the gazebo with armchairs, sofas, a table and even a swing - whatever else your imagination is capable of. To build furniture, you can use everything that is left from the gazebo. Here is just a small fraction of what you can make from pallets with your own hands:

  • shoe rack;
  • hanger;
  • table on wheels;
  • sofa;
  • armchair;
  • vertical vegetable garden or flower garden;
  • utility wall with shelves;
  • swing;
  • sandbox.

The most important thing in such a matter is not to limit your imagination. Good luck with your creativity!

If you want to quickly build beautiful gazebo– it’s not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. Original and simple method An option appears where the gazebo is created from pallets. Today, they are often used by summer residents, since they act as an inexpensive building material that allows you to construct a fence or small structures. Using pallets, you can significantly reduce the cost of building a gazebo, while still getting original design. You can build a gazebo from this material in as soon as possible, since for this the pallets only need to be connected according to the developed drawing.

What are pallets?

Pallets should be understood as a structure consisting of wooden planks and beams located in 2 tiers. These products are necessary in order to transport any materials/items. The wood used to create pallets is processed, so the risk of fungus is extremely low.

Pallets are used in warehouses for a long period of time, so the wood has time to dry well. Many companies simply throw away these products because they no longer need them, but some companies sell them at low cost. You can purchase them as firewood or as material for building structures.

There are 4 types of pallets for the garden, which differ in size, but the most common type has a height of 15 centimeters. Of the products in question, you can easily lay the floor, since you only need to fill the existing gaps.

Where can you find pallets?

Finding the products in question in order to build a gazebo is not difficult. There are several ways.

  • We assemble the pallets ourselves. To do this, you will need to find a suitable material, then find out the dimensions of the products.
  • Purchase. Many companies sell these products that have been used for a certain time.
  • We get it for free. To get free pallets, you need to contact the companies that use them and ask if they recycle them. If the company is just throwing them away, you can probably negotiate to pick up the material, since even hauling the pallets away for disposal comes with a cost to the company.

Preparing the material

Before you start building a gazebo, you need to decide on its location and create a construction plan. Once you have decided on the dimensions, you can calculate how many pallets you will need for the job.

Before you start building a gazebo, it is important to do the following:

  • carefully inspect all pallets received, repair and clean them if required;
  • divide the pallets into parts if this is provided for in the project;
  • it is recommended to sand the pallets before use, especially those parts that will be located inside the gazebo;
  • use antiseptic impregnation that will protect the material from bacteria and fungus;
  • Once the applied impregnation has dried, the pallets can be painted in the desired color.

If you ignore the steps presented above, the constructed gazebo will be of lower quality and will become unusable in the near future.

Pros and cons of pallets

Pallets are made of wood, therefore they have the following characteristics:

  • environmentally friendly and safe for the human body;
  • products and buildings made of wood have a beautiful appearance;
  • easy to process.

Pallets marked IPPC should not be used because they have been treated with chemicals. They cannot be used as a building material.

The use of pallets in the construction of a gazebo has many advantages. There are many advantages to this idea.

  • The gazebo has open design, so the air circulates well. This has a beneficial effect on the atmosphere inside.
  • The cost of the material is relatively low. You can create pallets yourself from boards. It is also possible to purchase used material at a great price. Moreover, even new pallets do not have a high cost.
  • The constructed structure will be environmentally friendly and safe.

Despite many advantages, there is one significant drawback. The wood has been treated, but it is not designed for durable use, so you will have to periodically coat the gazebo with special compounds to extend its service life.

DIY construction

Regardless of what type of pallets you choose, you will definitely be satisfied with the result. A gazebo will not only decorate your site, but will also turn into a cozy place. On summer evenings you can relax here with family and friends, and during the day you can find shelter from the scorching sun. The best part is that this gazebo is built very quickly. It will take a maximum of 2 days to complete the entire work. Next, we will tell you how to properly build a gazebo and where to start.

Initially, you must create a plan that you will definitely follow while working.

You need to do all of the following in a row:

  • selecting building materials;
  • imagine what a gazebo should look like;
  • we develop a drawing;
  • we build a gazebo;
  • We make the gazebo as cozy as possible.

Determining the optimal location

You need to decide on the location of the gazebo first. The selected area must be cleared of stones, and the tall grass must be mowed. If the site is uneven, it must be leveled before starting construction.

This is especially important if the floor will be built directly on top of the ground. Experts do not recommend that you go this route, since such construction will not be durable. It is best to create a base on which our gazebo will be located. When you have cleared the desired area, use pegs and rope to mark what size your gazebo will be.

Project

Now is the time to turn to your imagination in order to design your future gazebo. At this stage, your ingenuity will be required. After all, you can make a large number of elements from pallets that will fill your gazebo with coziness and convenience. Pallets are ideal for creating tables or benches, but this must be included in your plan. It is better to make furniture for the gazebo before its construction. When you have already decided what the design should be, you can begin further actions, namely, start developing a drawing.

Drawing

Don't worry about the fact that you are not an architect and don't have the necessary knowledge to create a correct and beautiful drawing. Ordinary graphic editors can help you in this situation. Your task is not to perfectly depict a gazebo on paper, but to correctly implement the idea. It is necessary to develop a drawing of the gazebo, taking into account the structural sections. This will help you later when you start making the project a reality.

Foundation

At this stage, we are already starting to work on the site. Here you need to build a foundation for the future gazebo. There are foundations various types. You can choose one of them based on the time you plan to spend on building the gazebo. If you need to do it quickly, then concrete blocks, installed on compacted earth, appear to be the best option.

Laying brick pillars will take longer compared to the previous option, however, the most time-consuming method is pouring concrete columns. It is important to note that the latter method is the most reliable and durable. Keep in mind that if the soil is soft, then it needs a strip base, which will prolong construction a little, because you will need to wait until the cement dries.

When the foundation is laid, it is necessary to install a timber base along its perimeter. It is attached with screws. The bars are fastened together with strapping.

It is important that the base is made of exclusively high-quality boards, since they will be subject to intense load.

If placed under the base protective film, then you can thus protect the foundation from moisture.

Creating the floor and walls

When you already have a solid foundation, you can begin installing the corner posts. They need to be installed not only in the corners, but also in the front part, highlighting the entrance. The beams are connected from above by means of strapping. Make sure that the posts are level and vertical, otherwise this will cause the gazebo to sag.

After installing and securing all the racks, you can proceed to the top trim. It is recommended to strengthen it with corners to reduce the risk of breaks. Next, you can begin laying the boards on the floor.

They must be pre-processed special means from rotting. If this is not done, they may rot and the gazebo may sag.

If your project involves a medium frame, then after creating the floor you can proceed to at this stage. If this point is not provided, then you can start building walls. They can be stacked in one row or in several. Fasten with anchors or cap screws. In some cases, nails are used, but this is not entirely reliable way fastenings

The roof should be done last. What material you make it from is up to you. You can choose tiles, roofing felt or polycarbonate. Each of the presented materials has its pros and cons.

The tiles have an attractive appearance, however, it will take a lot of time to lay them. Ruberoid is characterized by quick installation, but visually the roof looks very specific. Polycarbonate appears to be a middle option. It installs relatively quickly and looks quite neat and attractive. In some cases, the pallets themselves are used for roofing, but this is not the best option. You can disassemble them and use them to build a gazebo roof.

Being in the country, away from the bustle of the city and exhaust fumes, you want to enjoy the fresh air, inhale the aromas of flowers, listen to birdsong, and just while away a pleasant evening with family and friends. But why not sit in a stuffy house? The best option- this is a gazebo, if there is one, of course. If not, then, having the materials and time, you can make it yourself. There are many options. We will tell you about one of the cheapest - this is a do-it-yourself gazebo made from pallets.

Pallets and their differences

Pallets, or pallets, are wooden structures used for transportation. various cargoes. Therefore, they are manufactured taking into account the transportation of large weights and have increased strength.

If you decide to make a gazebo from pallets, you should know that they (pallets) come in different sizes. The only thing that is the same for everyone is height. On average - 144 mm. But the length and width are variable: 1200 × 800 mm; 1200 ×1000 mm; 1200 × 1200 mm; 800 × 600 mm. Therefore, when starting work, make sure that the pallets are the same.

Where to get pallets

They are often brought to the dacha from building material. And so, they accumulate and lie, spoiling the exterior and taking up space. The neighbors are the same. If there are not enough of them for your idea (a gazebo in this case), go through your friends. In addition, many stores will be happy to get rid of unnecessary junk for next to nothing.

Project and drawing

The first thing to do is decide on the end result. That is, roughly imagine what it will look like after construction is completed. The gazebo can be square, hexagonal, “two-room”, two-story; the walls can reach the top or half, there may be one blank wall, or there may be three. It all depends on your imagination.

  1. Carefully calculate the length and width depending on the method of connecting the pallets: end-to-end or at a distance.
  2. Consider the height. It can consist of either whole pallets or trimmed ones. It’s easier, of course, for the pallets to be intact. This will save both time and nerves.
  3. You need to immediately think about the shape of the roof, so as not to change anything later.
  4. When constructing a gazebo, pallets can be placed both horizontally and vertically. The vertical arrangement visually enlarges the structure, although the advantage is still given to the horizontal one.

Preparing pallets for assembly

  • It is necessary to check the pallets for integrity. If they are “loose”, they must be secured with self-tapping screws.
  • Since the standard assembly of pallets is carried out using nails, it is necessary to inspect the pallets and, if necessary, “sink” the nail heads a couple of millimeters to avoid problems during sanding.
  • Sand the surface thoroughly. A surface grinder is best suited for this purpose. You can, of course, use a grinder with a petal wheel, but in this case you risk leaving indentations in the wood. As a last resort - pens and sandpaper. Sandpaper should be medium-grit (80 - 160), closer to the maximum, or fine-grained (160 - 4000).
  • It is advisable to dull the sharp edge (at least around the perimeter of the tray). This will protect you from injury.
  • Since the gazebo at the dacha will be exposed to precipitation, the pallets must be treated. The stores offer a wide range of wood care products. In extreme cases, drying oil will do.

Further, again, everything depends on imagination. It can be treated with stain and varnished, it can be primed and painted, and so on. If painting is intended, then it is necessary to choose paint for exterior use.

What you need to assemble a gazebo

  1. Actually, pallets.
  2. timber ( metallic profile, corner).
  3. Anchor bolts, cap screws, wood screws (many and different), various angles for installation.
  4. Drill, screwdriver (screwdriver).
  5. Measuring instruments (ruler, tape measure).
  6. Level.
  7. Roofing material.

Foundation and floor

When we have all the components for a gazebo at our dacha, we need to prepare the area by clearing it of grass and stones. A foundation is needed, because if you lay the boards on the ground, they will quickly become unusable. In addition, it is necessary to lay roofing felt or plastic film to further protect the pallets from moisture and prevent grass growth.

We choose the foundation depending on the soil. If it is clayey, then it is better to use piles. It is easier to purchase screw ones, since they do not require digging holes and subsequent concreting. In the economical option, we dig holes, hammer in pipes and concrete. We are waiting for the concrete to completely harden. If the soil is gristly, then you can make a regular one strip foundation. But in this case it will take time to harden. As a last resort, a cinder block, which is also leveled, is suitable for the foundation.

When the foundation is ready, we begin installing the floor of our gazebo from pallets. (We are considering the option of a rectangular (square) gazebo). To do this, we first make a frame of timber (100 × 100 mm), which is attached to the foundation with anchor bolts or cap screws. Next, we lay the logs on which the pallets will subsequently be attached.

After securing the pallets, the gaps can be sewn up with boards or a flooring can be made over the pallets. Plywood, chipboard, OSB and even fiberboard are suitable for this.

Installation of walls and roof

Let's start building the walls. We use timber or a metal profile as support and corner posts, to which we attach our pallets using self-tapping screws or bolts (cap screws), depending on the material, according to the design.

During the design process, we decided on the type of roof. It can be single-pitched (the simplest in all respects), gable, etc., based on the shape of the gazebo. What should I cover it with? In principle, any one is suitable for a dacha available material: slate, tiles, polycarbonate, metal tiles, flexible tiles, board.

Decor

Here, our gazebo made of pallets is ready. All that remains is to decorate it and make furniture. Pallets are an excellent material for creating tables and benches. Only for this you will still need a jigsaw or hacksaw.

Inside you can hang curtains, pots with climbing plants or just artificial flowers. Place mats or baroque on the benches to match the curtains. And be sure to provide light. Just don't forget about safety precautions! External wiring must be hidden in a metal sleeve. You can plant ivy, grapes or hops outside so that over time the plants will intertwine it.
