Large peony made of corrugated paper. Giant peony flower for a photo shoot: master class

The original decoration of the interior are large peony flowers made of corrugated paper. They are also ideal as a gift for a friend, mother or grandmother. They are not difficult to make yourself at home.

Features of paper selection

Before you start creating the flower itself, you should select the necessary corrugated or crepe paper. What is the difference:

  1. Corrugated. In this case, the corrugation has larger dimensions and is most often used when packaging products. It is denser, but significantly inferior in elasticity.
  2. Creped. It is distinguished by smaller corrugated sizes and is used in fine arts and crafts. It has a wide color palette. Poor quality crepe paper can tear and not hold the desired shape.

When choosing paper for future crafts, you should be guided by the following criteria:

  • density;
  • elasticity;
  • color fastness.

The best option for creating large peonies at home would be paper with a density of 32 g/m2 and an elasticity of 45% or higher.

Materials and tools

All necessary materials can be purchased at a stationery store or found at home. It is better to decide in advance on the color scheme of the future flower. What you will need:

  • 2-3 rolls of corrugated or crepe paper of the desired shade;
  • scissors;
  • threads;
  • needle;
  • round balloon;
  • newspapers;
  • glue.

Step-by-step master class

When creating a large peony, it can take you more than one hour of work. Therefore, it is worth stocking up on free time and patience.

  1. First you need to prepare a form for the future flower. It is made using papier-mâché technique. Inflate the balloon to the desired size for your future craft. It shouldn't be too small.
  2. Tear the newspapers into small pieces and begin to peck at the balloon with them. In order not to get confused in the layers of papier-mâché, you can use a different color for each new one. Make 5-6 layers and leave to dry for several hours.

    Advice! To be sure that all layers of papier-mâché have dried well enough, it is better to leave it to dry for a day.

  3. When the mold dries, use a needle to burst the ball inside. Then, measuring 6.5-7 cm from the top of the workpiece, divide the workpiece into two parts.
  4. Take the smaller part of the mold, turn it over and insert it inside the second part as shown in the picture below.
  5. Sew both parts with thread, joining them together. For better fixation, the edge can be additionally impregnated with glue.

  6. Now you can start creating peony petals. There will be 8 types in total, differing in size and shape. For greater convenience, it is better to use the size chart in inches or centimeters. The figure below shows such a grid in inches. When making calculations, it is worth remembering that 1 inch = 2.54 cm. Thus, the petal under No. 1 has a height of not 7 cm, but 17 cm. In total, we will need 10 pieces of each type.

  7. The technique for collecting a flower is the same for each petal. First you need to carefully stretch the petal from the center and give it a “dish-shaped” shape. We bend the lower part back. It is for this that the petal will stick to the base.

  8. Petals numbered 1 are used to create the center part of the flower. We take one petal and fold it in half at the bottom, glue the junction with glue. Next, take another petal of the same type and wrap it around the first one, also gluing the edges at the base with glue. We coat the lower part of the workpiece with glue and glue it to the center of our base. The petals should be visible from the edges of the base. In this way, all the prepared petals are glued.

  9. Next, corrugated or crepe paper of the same color as the petals is pasted over the cut of the workpiece.

  10. Thus, we glue petals numbered 2-5 to the base. Petals number 5 come last and should be glued directly to the base.

  11. We use blanks number 6 to glue the outer part of the base. Their upper part should be flush with all the other petals.

  12. Now you need to shape the bottom of the base. To do this, measure about 8-9 cm from the bottom and cut off the unnecessary part.

  13. We cover the base with petals numbered 7 in a circle. We simply cover the remaining space with corrugated or crepe paper so that the newspapers are not visible.

  14. There should be 25-30 petals numbered 8. We pull them out in the same way as the rest, but at the same time we additionally twist the upper part using a small stick or tube. They are glued to the remaining free space.
  15. Now we cut out large petals from which we form “bowls”. Glue them to the base itself, as shown in the figure below. Fill in the gaps with small petals and then fold the larger final petals over to the flower and lightly glue them at the base.

  16. Carefully straighten all the petals to give the flower lightness and airiness.

Your flower is ready. It can be placed in a vase or used as a decoration for curtains. Then don’t forget to cover the inside of the form with fabric and attach satin ribbons on both sides.

Peonies are delicate, airy summer flowers with many fans. Unfortunately, peony season is limited to one month a year. So that you can enjoy your favorite flowers all year round, you can make peonies from corrugated paper.

Material

The types and methods of making peonies are different, the methods depend on the choice of material for the craft.

Corrugated paper is a multifunctional material. It was originally invented in Great Britain, where it was used as a lining for hats. Nowadays, there are many types of corrugated paper, differing in sheet thickness, color and texture.

Craft paper is divided into corrugated and crepe paper. Their difference lies in the size of the folds covering the surface of the sheet. Corrugated paper is rougher, while crepe paper is softer, more pliable and better suited for creativity.

Peony with candy

Making a peony step by step with your own hands will take no more than an hour, even for an inexperienced person.

To make a flower, you need to purchase high-quality crepe paper in three colors (two shades of pink and dark green for the sepals), round candy, transparent film or mesh, and wire for the stem.

The tools you will need are pliers, a ruler, a pencil and scissors. Also purchase floral tape, hot glue, tape, thread and cardboard to create stencils.

First you need to cut the required amount of wire to attach the candy. For a large flower, cut 2 pieces of wire, 25 cm each. Next, bend one end of each wire into a loop and wrap them 3 cm down from the loops with double-sided tape. Connect the wires and bend the loops so that they are directed in different directions and secure them well with tape.

Attach the candy on top of the loops, secure it tightly with a transparent film or mesh on top, twist it on the stem (like a candy wrapper on a lollipop) and secure with tape, trim off the excess film.

Our peony will consist of 7 rows of petals, each row will have 5 petals. The first 4 rows of petals should be made of paper of a lighter shade than the rest. All petals should be 7 cm high and vary in width.

The first 2 rows have a petal width of 3 cm, rows 3 and 4 - 4 cm, row 5 - 8 cm, and rows 6 and 7 - 6 cm. Petals from the first, third, fifth and seventh rows should be heart-shaped, and the rest - irregular shape with 3-4 large cloves.

Try to create a petal stencil that looks as much like real flower petals as possible. This will make the craft more realistic. When placing the stencil, make sure that the corrugated strips are along the petals.

To decide on the shape of the blanks, look at the photos of corrugated paper peonies made by experienced needlewomen.

After making the petals, they need to be given the most natural shape possible. To do this, stretch the central part of the petals in different directions, giving them a cup shape. Petals - hearts are stretched in two places to make a depression in each oval. It is better to twist the edges of the petals a little inward using toothpicks.

Make stamens for a flower from a rectangular piece of light paper. You need a piece of corrugated paper measuring 15 × 9 cm. Gather the paper with an accordion 6-8 times and cut the corners on both sides of the rectangle. Unfold the resulting part and tighten the sharp parts. Twist the resulting strip with stamens onto the stem around the candy and secure it with threads.

Then cover the candy with the first row of petals, placing them overlapping in relation to each other. First tie the ends of the petals with thread and secure. Afterwards you can strengthen them with tape. The next two rows of petals are attached using the same principle. It is better to attach all large petals, starting from the 4th row, with hot-melt adhesive.

To cover the bottom of the flower, make sepals. To do this, cut out 5 rectangles 4 × 7 cm. From them you need to make leaves with four “rays” and stretch them in the center. The sepals are attached to hot glue, covering the unaesthetic-looking lower part of the flower.

Wrap the wire stem with tape. For convenience, it is better to place it on hot glue in the area of the sepals. After this stage, the peony is ready.

Peony without stem

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a peony for a panel are very simple. To make it you will need simple corrugated paper (any shade of pink), cardboard, scissors and hot glue.

Prepare 12 large petals, 6 medium petals and 10 small petals. Give a convex shape to all the petals. You can use blanks from the previous master class on peonies made of corrugated paper. Make the stamens from a strip of corrugated paper cut into fringes. The basis for the flower will be a circle made of cardboard.

You need to glue the petals starting with the largest ones. There should be enough large petals for 2 rows, medium ones for one and small ones for 2.

Roll the ribbon with the stamens and glue it into the middle of the flower. The peony for the panel is ready.

This luxurious peony, made of corrugated paper, will be within your control, dear readers, if you study the master class posted on this page :)

Agree, such flowers look very realistic. Can you imagine how you can decorate your interior with them?!

Let's explore a master class of these incredibly beautiful peonies!

See what you'll need for this project.

You will also need a papier-mâché ball. To do this, you need to cover the balloon with paper in three layers with intermediate drying. And for glue, use a homemade paste made from flour and water 1:1.

Now learn about the unusual trick of this project in creating a base for a peony :)
If you look at a peony, its inner petals are more recessed in relation to the outer large petals.

To create this indentation, use a piece of the bottom of a papier-mâché ball about 2 1/2".

Using a needle and thread, finish the edge of the cut with stitches, as shown in the picture.

Now let's talk about the petals.

To create a variety of peony petals you will need crepe paper. You can now see the sizes and shapes of the petals on the screen.

and further. In total, the peony has 7 types of different petals.

Now learn the technique of forming the three-dimensional shape of the petals.

In the very center of the petal we stretch the corrugated paper. And bend the base of the petal inward, as shown in the picture.

Let's take a closer look at the formation of each petal.

Petal No. 1:

Petal No. 1 is used for the center of the peony. We connect the base of the petal by squeezing the base and fixing it with hot glue, retreating a centimeter from the edge of the base. Wrap the second petal around the first as shown. in the picture Glue it in the very center of the concave shape using hot glue.

So, the very center of the peony flower is already in place :) So that this semicircular shape does not walk around the table. like a tumbler - place it for convenience in a bowl of a suitable diameter.

We continue to wrap the centering with petals, slightly stretching the middle of them, and folding the base of the petal towards each other.

Cover the edge of the cut with corrugated paper too, so that everything is aesthetically pleasing :)

Petal No. 2-5:

We continue to glue the formed petals in the direction from the center and spirally around the circumference, using as they emerge from the deep base from the smaller petal size to the larger one. 8 petals of each type. We bend the base of each petal and place it on the backing with hot glue.

Petal No. 6:

We begin to glue these petals (4 - 5 pieces) on the outer side of the base semicircle, slightly stretching the very edge of the petal in the middle. Glue it with hot glue as shown in the picture. The petals are glued slightly overlapping each other.

It’s already turning out very nice, isn’t it? :)

Since the craftswoman was making a hat from a flower, she used an additional fragment of a papier-mâché ball, which she glued to the base of the flower, as shown in the picture.

For this she used approximately 3-4" from the end of the cut.

Petal No. 7:

We glue five petals sequentially onto the base, first giving them a wavy shape.

Peonies- the real kings of the garden. Delicate pink, pure white, bright red and rich burgundy - the rich palette of colors and the beauty of these colors is truly mesmerizing.

It’s not for nothing that the ancient Greeks valued peonies so much, not only for their charming appearance, but also for their healing properties. But if not everyone can grow this wonderful flower, then everyone can try to make peonies from corrugated paper with their own hands, because there is nothing complicated about it.

Today we will conduct a master class on paper peonies from Andri Benson. This master class can be used not only for making flowers for a wedding (although how wonderful such bouquets will look in the center of a wedding celebration!). A large bouquet made in this way will look great on your desktop. So cute! And what a great use for all those old magazines! Let's save trees by not throwing away paper, but by making wonderful things out of it like these paper peonies!

First master class "peonies made from paper from old magazines"

What you need to make paper peonies with your own hands:

  • Triple scissors;
  • Adhesive tape or tape;
  • Colored tape or adhesive tape (green);
  • Wooden skewers for barbecue;
  • Magazines.

1. Tear out magazine pages with colorful advertisements, for example, from Vogue and wedding-themed magazines there are always a lot of double-sided pages with bright advertisements.

2. Having chosen the colors that you would like to see on the surface, fold the page in half, and then fold each of the resulting sides in half again so that you have three folds.

4. Having finished working with scissors, take the adhesive tape and stick it to the bottom of the workpiece (depending on whether you are right-handed or left-handed, it will be more convenient for you to work in one direction or another, so find a convenient direction in which it will be easier for you to twist the paper) .

5. Then carefully begin to roll the strip of paper around the skewer, using enough pressure to curl the paper tightly. At the same time, apply slight pressure when twisting so that you get a beautiful flower head.

6. Once the flower is rolled, take more duct tape and roll it around the flower, securing it.

7. Then take the colored duct tape and apply it over the clear duct tape, squeezing slightly as you apply it. You need to cover the entire skewer with it.

8. DIY paper peonies are ready!

Depending on the color of the pages you choose, you can make different bouquets and then place them in a container or vase of your choice. If you want to use as many unnecessary things as possible so that, instead of recycling, you can give them a new life, you can use food jars pre-coated with paper from other advertising magazines.

Second master class "do-it-yourself peonies from corrugated paper"

Peonies made of corrugated paper. Photo

For the craft we will need:

  • Special hot glue gun (or hot glue);
  • Scissors;
  • Thread of any color for assembling petals;
  • Green corrugated paper for leaves;
  • Corrugated paper for the flower itself. The paper peonies in the tutorial below are made in bright fuchsia.

Take fuchsia paper and use scissors to cut a strip 10 cm wide.

Then we cut it into small strips, which we will need to make the petals.

How to make peonies from corrugated paper. Step by step photo

We cut out the petals, first narrow and with sharp teeth at the end, then wider with larger teeth and very wide with rounded tips. The more petals are cut, the more magnificent the corrugated paper peonies will turn out.

We curl our petals with scissors.

The most twisted ones should be in the very middle of the flower. We collect the petal from below so that it looks like a spoon, and proceed to assembling the peony.

First we take the narrowest and most twisted petals.

Then those that are wider.

And finally, the widest ones with rounded ends.

After this, cut out leaves from green paper.

And glue the leaves to the flower.

Peonies made from corrugated paper look like real ones. You can give these flowers to someone or use them to enliven your interior.

A composition of paper peonies will become a worthy decoration for the interior of your room! Making such flowers is quite simple, and you can find the materials used in any stationery store. Also, the resulting bouquet can be given to friends and family instead of cut flowers as an addition to the gift. Our photo tutorial today will tell you how to make a realistic peony.

Materials and some tools for creating a flower:

  • corrugated paper of a delicate shade for petals;
  • green crepe or corrugated paper;
  • marker or felt-tip pen;
  • scissors;
  • thin wire 20 cm long;
  • a piece of any paper/cardboard for creating templates;
  • small scissors;
  • thermal gun.

Cut the prepared piece of paper into three parts. Using a marker or felt-tip pen, we create patterns of inner, middle and outer (large) petals on the leaves. Cut out all three blanks.

We fold them several times, put the templates on top and start cutting out the petals. Make the larger petals a little larger than the others so that the bud turns out lush.

Now, in order to start collecting a peony bud, you need to create its peduncle. To do this, wrap a thin green corrugated strip around a piece of wire.

Then we stretch the ribbon with the inner petals. Each petal on the workpiece should be convex in shape.

We wind the resulting petals onto the end of the treated wire. Then we straighten their ends with our fingers.

We give larger petals a more convex shape. We also stretch the lower part to make it easier to glue them to the bud.

Cut out long sepals from a strip of green corrugated paper. And glue them to the bottom of the flower, covering all the joints.

Now use small scissors to cut the tips of the large petals. We also cut the inside of the flower to form thin stripes.

From green corrugated or ordinary colored paper, cut out several leaves of approximately this shape.

We attach them to the peony pedicels.

That's all, the corrugated paper peony flower is completely ready! If you haven’t yet, then these jobs are waiting for you!
