Ventilated plastic windows. Which is better: a supply valve on a window or on a wall? What types of products are there?

Mold on slopes, stuffiness and “crying” windows are consequences of the tightness of modern plastic windows. Problems are solved by installing a fresh air ventilation valve for plastic windows.

Ventilation supply valves for PVC windows are mounted on the top of the window sash, creating an air supply into the room. Special design Ventilated windows keep out street noise, providing peace and quiet without creating drafts. Existing ventilation valve designs are suitable for aluminum, plastic and wooden windows.

With some skills and using our instructions, you can organize the supply ventilation of plastic windows yourself.

How does the inlet valve work?

It is possible to properly equip window supply ventilation only by understanding the mechanism of its operation. This is especially important, since to install the valve of the most common design, it will be necessary to cut a hole in the window 1 cm wide and about 30 cm long. At the end of the work, it is closed by the valve body. It will not be possible to remove the valve so as not to open the ventilation slot on the window profile.

The supply valve for PVC windows is part of passive ventilation. Cold air is sucked into the room and pushes out more warm air into the exhaust ventilation ducts. The movement is ensured due to the pressure difference, therefore natural ventilation valid when the outside air temperature is less than +5 degrees. In summer, passive ventilation will only work with forced exhaust.

So to work supply valve conditions required:

  • The apartment must have proper natural exhaust ventilation. To check its operation, you should close the door to the apartment, open the window in the room as far away as possible from the ventilation duct and attach a piece of paper to the grille. If it holds, the hood is fine. Even when the hood does not draw well, the valve will slightly improve the air condition in the apartment, but its efficiency will be low;
  • The air temperature outside is less than +5 degrees;
  • There should be free air exchange between rooms in the apartment. That is, the doors are open or there are gaps 2 cm wide left under them. You can make them at the bottom of the doors ventilation holes with a total area of 130 sq. see for bathroom doors and 200 sq. see for kitchen;
  • To prevent air leaks from the entrance, the entrance door should be sealed as much as possible.
  • Many owners are afraid of the ventilation supply valve for PVC windows freezing. Indeed, if the fresh air valve is not adjusted correctly, this phenomenon is possible. This is evidenced by numerous reviews from owners of plastic windows. In severe frosts, the valve should not be closed completely.

    Then it will be warmed up with warm air from the room and icing of the plastic window with ventilation is excluded.

    If the ventilation valve needs to be closed completely, the air supply gap is sealed on the outside. The gap is closed very carefully, ensuring complete impermeability.

    But the increase in noise in the apartment after installation on plastic window You shouldn’t be afraid of the fresh air ventilation valve. The gap for the air supply is very small, so the noise insulation will decrease slightly, which is confirmed by reviews of ventilation supply valves for plastic windows.

    Efficiency of supply valves

    This question certainly arises for every owner of an apartment with metal-plastic windows without ventilation. To avoid wasting money, check the expected performance effect before purchasing a valve.

    Remove the seal from the top of the window sash. No need to cut it, just leave it hanging. To reduce air flow, push part of the elastic back into place. Leave the window in this state for several days. Please pay attention to the following parameters:

    • room temperature;
    • the presence of condensation on the glass;
    • whether there was street noise;
    • is there a draft?

    After the experiment, the seal is inserted into place.

    By the way, the air temperature in the room will become lower after installing a fresh air ventilation valve for plastic windows. After all, cold street air enters the room. If the apartment has excellent heating, the owners will not even notice a difference of 2-3 degrees. Otherwise you will have to refuse installation ventilation valve for a plastic window and think about purchasing an air supply unit with air heating.

    The need for supply valves on plastic windows

    There are owners who prefer warmth to fresh air. And they are wrong. In America and Europe, which have been using plastic windows for 30 years, there is a term “unhealthy building syndrome.” It applies specifically to sealed buildings with poor air exchange. Staying in such premises is harmful to humans. According to WHO, diseases caused by poor indoor air quality kill 5 thousand people every day. It is indoor air, not polluted street air! In America, up to 30 thousand people a year die from diseases caused by increasing concentrations of radon in apartments. Gas is released from the ground and building materials and accumulates in houses that are not equipped with plastic windows with ventilation. Radon is completely invisible without special devices.

    Air conditioning does not replace the ventilation of plastic windows!

    Inlet window valve-handle

    The ventilation valve for plastic windows is installed instead of the standard handle. Many owners of PVC windows do not want to install ventilation supply valves that protrude beyond the sash. A convenient solution has been created for them, allowing you to ventilate the room without disturbing appearance.

    Advantages of window supply ventilation in the form of a handle valve:

    • The ventilation valve is located in the place where condensation usually appears on a plastic window. The valve creates natural air movement, especially important in the cold season;
    • Valve-handle combination and exhaust system ventilation creates a healthy indoor microclimate and removes excess moisture;
    • The supply ventilation valve in the form of a handle for plastic windows is direct-flow design. According to the laws of physics, penetrating into warm room, cold air does not create condensation. That is, the valve will not freeze in winter;
    • The valve is equipped with an air filter that prevents dust from entering the room. The filter is changed once every six months.

    There are still few reviews of the handle-shaped supply ventilation valve, because it is a new product. But the principle of its operation is similar to well-proven ventilation devices for metal-plastic windows. This design is also suitable as a ventilation valve for aluminum windows.

    Installing a valve for ventilation of a plastic window with your own hands is not difficult. The kit includes detailed instructions and a diagram of the location of the holes in air chambers window sash. All fasteners are included.

    Installing a supply valve on a window with your own hands

    You can install the supply ventilation valve on a plastic window yourself. Home handyman with experience will spend no more than an hour on this.

    You will need the following tools:

    • ruler;
    • screwdriver or screwdriver;
    • sharp knife;
    • valve.

    The supply valve for plastic windows is installed on the flap of the window with your own hands. First you need to make a mark in the middle of the upper part of the sash using a ruler. The order of work depends on the valve design. So, in some cases, to equip a window with ventilation, you only need to replace the section of the seal with the one included in the kit. For other models you will have to make a gap in the profile. When choosing a ventilation valve for aluminum windows, it is preferable to go with the first option, since it is difficult to cut out the inlet slot accurately at home.

    Manufacturers usually supply their devices detailed instructions, allowing you to equip the ventilation of a plastic window with your own hands.

    Step-by-step instructions on how to install a supply valve for window ventilation in the video:

Plastic windows appeared here quite recently - the first workshops for their production in the CIS countries appeared in the early 90s of the last century. Nevertheless, it is already difficult for us to imagine our life without plastic double glazed windows. Their main advantage is that they do not allow street noise and cold air into the apartment. But at the same time, we are deprived of the most important thing - natural air exchange. This drawback can be corrected with the help of supply valves on the windows.

PVC windows are good for everyone: they make you feel warm, quiet and cozy. However, with plastic windows it leaves much to be desired. Without proper ventilation, residents risk earning " side effects"like incessant fatigue and . Of course, you can ventilate the room to ensure an influx of fresh air, but this solution can hardly be considered successful: in windy or cold weather, keeping the windows open is quite problematic. In addition, air enters the room uncontrollably.

Accordingly, for a comfortable stay in the house, you need some kind of device with the help of which air will continuously flow into the room at required quantity. For this purpose they were created. One of their types, window valves, is built into the glass unit, so that a narrow gap is formed that regulates the air supply.

On modern market presented large assortment ventilation valves. Usually there are several types of devices.

Manual

Aero valve with manual control It is cheaper than an automatic one, but it is difficult to regulate the air flow manually: after all, the required amount of fresh air greatly depends on the number of people and the state of the microclimate in the room.

Automatic

An automatic window flap is more convenient. It has a built-in sensor that determines the level of relative humidity in the room. Thanks to the sensor, the device itself regulates the amount of incoming air and determines when to open or close the ventilation hole.

Rebated supply and ventilation valves

Most budget option. Fresh air is supplied from the street into the house through special openings in the frame or sash. To install the valve, you do not need to dismantle the windows. Street noise practically does not penetrate into the house. Main disadvantage this type - low throughput: the room will still need periodic ventilation.

Slot valves for windows

With slot ventilation, air is supplied through a hole whose width is 12–16 mm and length – from 170 to 400 mm. Some models consist of one universal block, and some - of two blocks: one is installed on inner side windows, and the second - on outer side. Slot valves have a high flow capacity and do not require the removal of windows to install them, which is why they are quite popular in the market.

Handle with supply valve

Mounted instead of the usual handle of a plastic window. When installed, the appearance of the window does not change in any way. The handle valve also often has a built-in filter element that blocks dust.

Overhead valves

This type among others the most effective. However, you cannot do without dismantling the window: the dimensions of the window sashes and frames must be “adjusted” to the device. There is practically no protection from street noise. Therefore, this type is more often used in warehouses and factories than in ordinary apartments.

Based on the material they are made of, models are divided into wooden, metal and plastic.

Apart from installing an overhead valve, there are two ways to install it: with milling (you will have to make a hole in the window block; most likely, you will need the help of specialists) and without milling. The second method is the simplest; with its help you can install a valve on PVC windows with your own hands in a matter of minutes.

You will need:

  • stationery knife;
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • ruler.
  1. Using a utility knife, cut off a portion of the standard seal on the frame equal to the length of the valve.
  2. Glue a new one in place of the old seal - it comes complete with the supply valve.
  3. In the same way, remove the excess seal on the sash.
  4. Install the plugs from the kit into the groove on the sash where the previous seal was located.
  5. Attach the valve to the top of the sash (the brackets should be directed towards the window). Secure it with the screws included in the kit.
  6. Install a new seal between the brackets.

Reviews of ventilation valves range from enthusiastic to aggressively disappointed. Almost all users note the same pros and cons.

Advantages:

  • Unlike micro-ventilation or ventilation with open windows, there are no drafts in the apartment when the supply valve is operating.
  • Fresh air is supplied continuously, which has a positive effect on the microclimate of your home. The humidity in the apartment is normalized, and the risk of fungus on the walls is reduced.
  • The device is easy to install and use.
  • The likelihood of formation on windows is reduced.

Flaws:

  • IN winter time Some valve models freeze up.
  • If you have manual valve, you will have to frequently adjust it depending on weather conditions, the number of people in the room (i.e., the level of carbon dioxide in the air) and other climatic indicators. Since the valve is located at the top of the window, it may be necessary to stand on a chair or stepladder to adjust the operation of the device - this all depends on the height of the windows themselves.
  • The device, as a rule, is not equipped with filters, so particles of street dust and other pollutants may enter the air.

As we can see, supply valves for plastic windows have both pros and cons. The question naturally arises: is the game worth the candle? What other ones are there that will provide an influx of fresh air and oxygen?

To compare, first you need to define the comparison criteria:

  • Performance. Ventilator performance is measured in cubic meters air supplied by the device per hour. On average, an adult consumes about 30–40 m3/h. So, if your family has three people, you will need a device with a productivity of 90 cubic meters per hour. It is best to take a ventilator with a performance reserve so as not to overload the device with constant operation at maximum settings.
  • Noise. For comfortable use of the ventilator, a low noise level is important. Unnoticeable noise level is in the range of 30–40 decibels, at high performance normal level The ventilator noise should be no more than 50–55 decibels. Also, when choosing a device, you need to monitor what sound comes from the ventilator: intermittent noise will most likely irritate your ears.
  • Filtration system. Air filters are not installed in every ventilator. If you want the air supplied to your apartment to be not only fresh, but also clean, the presence of a filtration system must be decisive criterion for you.
  • Air heating system. Air heating is a necessary function for residents of cities where winter is especially harsh. Using the heating system, you can program the device to supply air at a comfortable temperature.
  • Difficult to install. Ventilator installation is a process that requires care and precision. Some types of ventilators are installed by yourself, while others require the help of specialists.
  • Price. The price of a ventilator depends on the factors mentioned above - maximum performance, sound insulation, quantity and quality of filters, availability of a climate control system, etc. Thus, the cost can vary from several hundred rubles to tens of thousands.

Climate valve for plastic windows is the simplest and most budget solution to provide ventilation. It does not require installation special equipment, through it fresh air enters the house, it does not make noise - the level of noise entering the room from the street only slightly increases. However, the capabilities of the device are not so great. Its productivity is quite low - up to 35 m3/h. Filters and heating element the device is not equipped.

The wall inlet valve also has a similar device. To install it, you need to make a hole in the wall. As a rule, the performance of a wall valve is higher than that of a window valve (up to 50 m3/h). Some models are equipped with a coarse filter that prevents large dust, lint and insects from entering the room air. Due to installation errors, the wall on which the valve is located may freeze at low air temperatures; There is no air heating system.

A mechanical ventilator is similar to a wall supply valve, but it necessarily contains a fan and more efficient filters. The performance of such a device is limited only by the performance of the fan (40–120 m3/h). However, such a ventilator does not clean the air of fine dust and allergens; It also lacks climate control function.

– the most efficient supply ventilation system among the previous options. The advantages of the breather include climate control and a three-stage air filtration system. The breather also has a recirculation mode, that is, the device can purify the air inside the room. The device is installed by specialists by making a small hole in the wall facing the street, and takes about an hour. The cost of a breather is significantly higher than other ventilators.
Below we have provided a brief comparison table of four ventilation devices (specifications may vary depending on the model).

Normal air exchange is necessary for any room. However, it is not always possible to install mechanical system ventilation. The best option is a ventilator for plastic windows. It provides housing with fresh air, which will flow constantly, which will eliminate drafts and condensation.

Ventilation of rooms

The easiest way to ventilate rooms is to open windows. However, it is not the most effective. Along with fresh air, they penetrate into the home harmful substances outside. This is dust and exhaust gases from road transport, and also cold. Near nearby industrial centers such ventilation is practically impossible.

Now they have begun to produce PVC windows with micro-ventilation mode. In them, it is enough to turn the handle 45° so that a gap appears between the frame and the sash. Air from outside will pass through it. With this method there is almost no noise, and the amount of pollution is minimal compared to an open window. However, the volume of fresh air with such ventilation is not enough for the room.

Another good way to ventilate a room is to install a limiter (comb). The system is attached to window frame and makes it possible to adjust the ventilation gap. This is an inexpensive method, but it does not solve the main problem - access to fresh air. Cold and noise in ventilation mode penetrate into the living space.

They also produce designs with stepped ventilation mode. This ventilation system in plastic windows works like a comb. When you turn the handle, several positions open with different sizes cracks.

Self-ventilated windows

After installation modern windows Made of plastic, they provide almost complete sealing. For high-quality ventilation, self-ventilated structures were invented. They can be installed in almost all civil and industrial buildings.

In this option, ventilation holes are made in plastic windows. The holes in the profile are located at the top and bottom of the frame. Air masses pass through the lower part, after which already heated air enters the room. The system works quite effectively, but it has some disadvantages. For example, in apartments on upper floors Insufficient air will be supplied. For this reason, special ones were invented.

Optimal valve options

This device for window ventilation is considered relatively simple. However, it has design differences depending on the variety. To understand this, you should know the features of all valve options.

Seam valves are considered the most inexpensive and simplest. The openings in allow air to enter the room through small cutouts. The features of this design are as follows:

  • low price;
  • possibility of installation without dismantling PVC windows;
  • simple and quick installation;
  • guarantee of high sound insulation of double-glazed windows;
  • possible automation.

Despite all the above advantages, this type of valve has one significant drawback- poor throughput. This can be felt well with the windows closed.

Air enters the slots through special valves. They are equipped with two blocks: inlet and regulating, and in more modern models only one block of universal type. Among the advantages of the technology are:

  • thanks to the control unit there is complete protection against various external factors eg sediments and insects;
  • good throughput;
  • use without dismantling the glass unit.

A serious disadvantage of such valves is the relatively complex installation. However, in some models this drawback is eliminated, for which they are very popular.

There are overhead models, but they are practically not used for residential premises. This is due to the major shortcomings of the valves. They significantly reduce the thermal insulation efficiency of windows, and sound insulation is also completely absent. Such valves are usually installed before installation begins. window designs. This is due to preliminary adjustment of the opening. In the manufacturing sector, this type of supply ventilation has found wide application. The demand is due to its excellent throughput.

Ventilators for plastic windows

Selection criteria

During operation of a ventilated window, it is necessary for the supply ventilation to function effectively. Each valve option has its pros and cons. To do right choice, the following characteristics must be taken into account:

Experts advise not to consider options in which it is not possible to adjust the valve. During their operation, the need to change the air flow is mandatory. Usually they make mechanisms with manual, automatic and mixed settings. It is advisable to choose a tandem from the first two. Supply ventilation will be most effective if exhaust ventilation fulfills its function. Any design is easy to maintain, and this is another advantage. The basic rule of maintenance is to clean the surface from dirt. which is done once a year.

Depending on the design mechanism, its structure varies. The air flow can be regulated or it will work in constant mode. To create an optimal microclimate in the room, it is advisable to give preference to models with the ability to adjust.

The automatic setting mode is considered the most comfortable. In such a mechanism, when the optimal parameters change, regulation occurs. The hygroregulation sensor in the room monitors humidity levels. It can change the air flow section in several modes and even completely close access. This type of control device can significantly reduce heat loss. When there are no people in the room, ventilation does not occur.

At manual way ventilation, you need to think independently about regulating the flow of fresh air. The valve operating time is selected manually by the person himself. Only strong winds can limit the air flow with this setting.

When operating such a system, drafts occur in the room, which is harmful to health and uncomfortable. A normal flow of fresh air with automatic adjustment will eliminate feeling unwell and moods.

With the advent of plastic windows, many people appreciated their advantages. Practical, comfortable, beautiful, they can reduce the noise level in the apartment and avoid heat loss. Plastic windows have become a must-have attribute in almost every home. But, after installing plastic windows, in addition to positive changes, people soon discover some side effects in the form of insufficient ventilation of the room. This creates an unhealthy indoor microclimate: stale air, high humidity, a clear lack of oxygen, an increase in the concentration of toxic substances and microbes. In more unfavorable conditions This can cause windows to fog up and mold to grow. All this happens due to the fact that, due to their tightness, plastic windows become an obstacle to the flow of fresh air into the room. That is why it makes sense to install a supply valve in a plastic window to improve ventilation.

Why is room ventilation needed and how is it designed?

Air circulation is necessary for normal existence. In the process of life, living organisms secrete carbon dioxide and moisture. Polluted air must be removed and replaced with fresh air, that is, ventilation is necessary. In house-building practice, air circulation is carried out by a system supply- exhaust ventilation. Warm polluted air rises and is removed through ventilation ducts, naturally or forced when installing a fan. Instead of the removed air, it must come clean air outside. And this influx in classical housing construction is called “natural forced ventilation,” which is carried out through windows and air infiltration through cracks in wooden frames. You might think that the word "system" in in this case not entirely appropriate, since what kind of system is this from the opening of the ventilation duct and the cracks in wooden windows? But it is still a system; it is simply based on the usual, and therefore invisible to us, laws of physics. And the system is precisely because in order for one component to work - the removal of polluted air, another must be present - the supply of clean air, otherwise the polluted air will not be removed. And vice versa, in order for clean air to come in greater quantities from the outside, it is necessary to provide more effective system exhaust ventilation (create the necessary draft). Windows with ventilation can successfully perform this function.

How to improve room ventilation

The issue of improving exhaust ventilation can be improved simple actions. To do this, it is necessary: a sufficient cross-section of the ventilation duct, cleaning it in case of contamination, installing a fan that corresponds to the required volumes of air exchange.

To solve the issue of improving supply ventilation, it is necessary to organize the ability for air to constantly flow into the room. Sealed metal-plastic windows prevent free filtration of outside air. It is possible to ventilate the room only by opening the windows, which is not always convenient and logical, because then the main advantages of metal-plastic windows do not work: noise reduction and energy saving. It is also not convenient to ventilate the room often in winter, because... this creates drafts and discomfort due to cold air currents, especially if desk or the bed is located next to the window. Yes, and cooling down a room in 5-10 minutes in order to warm it up again is not reasonable in our time of striving for energy saving. Slot ventilation in hinged windows is also not always a solution to the problem, because... This is again a depressurization of the window.

To supply air into the room, in addition to traditional ventilation by opening the window sash, various systems ventilation and supply valves. Installation of a supply valve for ventilation – effective way improving room ventilation by installing special windows with ventilation.

Supply ventilation valves to improve the indoor microclimate

The most common types of valves are wall and window. There are wall valves different designs: from simple ones, protected by a grille on the outside and a plug on the inside, to electric ones using fans, filters and air heating. They are designed for more global solution the issue of fresh air ventilation, this is especially true where air conditioners are constantly used. In any case, the wall valve is basically a through hole in external wall, and to be effective, the hole diameter must be quite impressive, from 12-16 cm.

Wall valve

Wall thickness in modern houses does not allow the outside air to warm up to room temperature and additional measures are needed to warm it up, because The flow of cold air through such a hole is very noticeable. In fact, this idea has long been used in the construction of houses, but for its best implementation, the external inlet and outlet to the room should be located on at different levels and they need to be laid during the construction of the house. Well, now, before making a through hole in the wall, you need to seriously prepare for this, study various options and be sure that such a decision is justified.

Another type is window ventilation valves. The best thing is to take care of the ventilation of your home at the stage of installing windows and immediately order them with a ventilation system. But for various reasons, many do not do this, despite the fact that the need for valves for ventilation in metal-plastic windows already specified in building regulations. Later in the article we will talk about how to make a fresh air ventilation valve on plastic windows with your own hands.

Window ventilation valve installed on the window sash

How to arrange ventilation in plastic windows

Simple and practical supply valves, which are mounted on the frame and sash of the window (the result is windows with ventilation), will help to ensure fresh ventilation in already installed plastic windows. They are small in size and modern design, so they will not affect the aesthetics of the room in any way, but will help improve ventilation in the house. The most important thing is that they allow you to ventilate the room around the clock without opening windows. They are produced by different manufacturers and, depending on the configuration, they can provide a sufficient degree of noise protection and the required volume of air. Ventilation valves are available both manually and automatically, regulating the air flow according to sensor readings. For example, one of the most popular window valves AEREKO works on the principle of a hygrometer and regulates air flow depending on the relative humidity in the room: the higher the humidity level, the wider the ventilator flap opens and more air enters the room. Thus, there is no need to constantly open and close the valve, but if necessary, it is possible to manually adjust it. These valves are easy to install on windows. It is even possible to install such a ventilation valve yourself if you have experience working with a jigsaw. The installation principle itself is not complicated, but certain skills are required and therefore, to install an AERECO type window valve that requires profile drilling, it is better to contact specialists.

For those who prefer to personally control the process of air supply through the valve, an Air-Box Comfort type ventilator is suitable. The valve is installed in the window ledge without milling the profile, thus maintaining its integrity.

And it has another wonderful advantage - it is easy to install the supply valve with your own hands. Therefore, installation of an Air-Box Comfort window valve is quick and in an accessible way improving room ventilation. This valve is suitable for all types of plastic windows: hinged and tilting.

Step-by-step instructions for installing a supply ventilation valve in a plastic window

Let's take a closer look at the valve installation process. Installation will not take much time and will not require any special skills.

To install the ventilation valve you will need:

  • the valve itself is included;
  • stationery knife;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • ruler or prepared template.

All parts necessary for installing the valve are included in the kit. The kit includes the valve itself, 35 cm long, one piece of seal 35 cm long, two seals 16 cm long, three plugs for attaching the valve, self-tapping screws.

Step 1: Determining where to install the valve. The ventilation valve is located on the top of the sash. Approximately in the middle of the sash, use a ruler (or attach a prepared template 35 cm long) to mark the location of the valve. In narrow casements, you may have to move to the side to avoid hitting the window fittings.

Determining the location of the valve on the sash

Step 2. Removing the standard seal between marks. Using a knife, cuts are carefully made on both sides and the seal is easily removed from the groove.

Remove the seal from the groove

Step 3. Installing mounting dowels. Three mounting dowels are inserted into the groove in which the standard seal was located (with the wider side of the shirt facing down). They will serve to secure the valve to the sash. Two dowels at the edges and one in the middle.

Installed dowels for securing the valve

Step 4. Valve installation. To make it easier to fix the valve on the leaf, the valve is pre-applied with double sided tape. The protective film is removed from the tape. The valve is glued in the desired position using tape.

Removal protective film double sided tape

Step 5. Attaching the valve to the window sash. We attach the valve to the profile using self-tapping screws, screwing them into the previously installed dowels through the valve mounting holes. Now the valve is securely fixed using tape and screws.

Secure with self-tapping screws

Step 6. Insert a new seal. Instead of a standard seal between the valve mounts, we insert two 160 mm seals, which are included in the kit. The flap valve is installed.

Insert seals 160 mm long

Step 7. Replacing the standard seal on the frame. The valve requires air flow to function. To do this, you need to replace the standard seal with the seal from the kit. Mark a segment 350 mm long on the frame exactly opposite installed valve. Cut out the existing seal and insert the seal from the kit in its place.

Insert the new seal into the groove

This is what the seal on the frame looks like now. Replacing a standard seal with a narrower one provides a gap between the frame and the sash through which fresh air enters the room. However, the changes made do not in any way affect the normal operation of the window sash.

DIY window valve installation is complete. Now you can adjust the required level of air flow using the slider. The far right position fully opens the damper curtain and corresponds to the greatest air flow. The left position of the valve closes the valve.

Adjusting the air flow with the engine

The extreme left position of the slider (until it clicks) is intended for servicing the valve and is not used in everyday use; you cannot close the window with the slider in this position, because this may cause the valve to break.

That's all the rules for installing and operating a ventilation window valve.

A ventilation valve for plastic windows allows you to solve many problems: drafts, stuffiness in the room, condensation on the glass, which leads to mold. The main advantage of modern window blocks made of PVC profile– tightness turns into a disadvantage under certain conditions: when you need to ventilate the room and open the windows various reasons not possible (winter season, sick child, etc.).

Ventilation modes are not always suitable: either drafts occur, or the gap between the frame and sash profile is too thin, which is why there is no air flow required volumes fresh air into the room.

  • folded;
  • slotted;
  • invoices.
Rebated valve

The first two options are installed on windows that are already in use. In this case, installation can actually be done with your own hands. The slot valve is equipped with inlet and control blocks; some models have a universal ventilation unit - a combined version.

Protection is installed on the outside of the slot ( mosquito net) from litter and insects. For ventilation, a gap is provided with a length of 170 to 400 mm and a width of no more than 16 mm.

The rebate valve creates small gaps in the window sash. This operating principle does not provide high efficiency, but the sound insulation of the window is not compromised. There is also a more effective design - an invoice. However, this option is difficult to install with your own hands.

In addition, its efficiency is quite high, which can become an obstacle when creating a normal microclimate in a small home. Therefore, such designs are more often used in production.

Ventilation wall view

Supply ventilation valves operate on the principle of pressure differences. In this case, colder air is drawn into the room, and warm air comes out of the valve. This is how passive ventilation works, so its effectiveness drops when the outside temperature rises above +5 degrees. To increase exhaust draft in the warm season, it is recommended to use a forced ventilation system.

Design selection

If condensation forms on the windows, the room is stuffy and you have to ventilate frequently, you should adjust the fittings and check the seal. If no structural violations are identified, you can consider installing a supply valve on the window yourself.

Main selection criteria:

  • operating efficiency, which is determined by the parameters of the device and the number of people living in the apartment, for example, a sufficient air exchange rate in a room for one person can be provided by an influx of 30 cubic meters. m/h;
  • the noise level during valve operation should not exceed 35 dB;
  • To prevent the valve from icing up during the cold season, the design must include a “thermal break” made of plastic; it is installed between the inner and outer surfaces of the valve body;
  • type of construction: slotted, rebated - these are the main options that can be easily installed on the window with your own hands;
  • control method: automatic, manual or combined control.

The most popular designs: Aereco, Air-Box (Comfort, Comfort-S), Regel-Air. Each of the options has its own advantages, but almost all of them are easy to install with your own hands, except for the Comfort-S version, which is designed for a fixed window and is mounted by milling in the upper part of the profile. The Comfort model represents a group of rebate-type products.

Aereco products presented different options: jet flow in an oblique and straight direction. In addition, these valves are characterized by wide functionality, since in addition to their main task, they provide a normal level of humidity in the room thanks to the hygrocontrol function. Regel-Air valves represent a group of rebated designs. Their feature is a movable plastic feather, responsible for regulating the air flow.

Installation

To avoid problems during installation, it is recommended to select certain designs: seam, slotted. The window should be cleared of foreign objects and the curtains should be removed. For installation in a window sash, it is necessary to cut off part of the sealing cord on the frame and sash.

This can be easily done with your own hands using a stationery knife. The valve itself is attached using dowels to the window sash.

Inlet valve installation steps

To install the rebated structure, you will need 3 self-tapping screws; a sealant, which is included in the kit, is placed between them. Usually a sufficient amount of material is provided by the manufacturer. The valve is attached to the window profile using self-tapping screws.

Care and maintenance

Considering that together with air flow Dust enters the room, you need to periodically clean the ventilation device. It is enough to do this once a year. Use a soft cloth to wipe the plastic surface and seal. Adjusting the mechanism is preferable because a design characterized by constant air flow parameters does not provide optimal conditions indoors.

The best option is an automatic device; such models have hygroregulation sensors. The principle of their operation is based on monitoring the air humidity in the room, in accordance with this, the flow channel narrows or expands.

Manual adjustment is performed by changing the position of the damper. This method has a significant drawback, which is the difficulty of determining the desired position of the damper under different weather conditions.

Thus, installing a supply valve can significantly improve the microclimate in the room. If installation is planned on our own, it is recommended to choose a slotted or folded model. Moreover, the second option is easier to implement, since for the slotted type it is necessary to make an even slot in the profile. Given that correct installation you can avoid a number of problems: condensation on windows, drafts, ineffective air exchange in the room.
