An ideal home for a family with children. Choosing a house project for a family with two children Day area for the whole family

What should a home be like for a family with children? Beautiful, comfortable and functional. It should provide space for spending time together and for arranging a personal area for each family member. At the same time, it is desirable that this house be inexpensive to build and not require large operating costs.

Day area for the whole family

Many modern cottages are built on two floors, with the second floor usually being residential attic. In houses with an attic it is very easy to organize functional and comfortable interior. In addition, they provide the ability to divide into two zones: day and night.

The day zone is, first of all, a living room, which is a room for communication, games, shared meals, relaxation and receiving guests. Today it is common to combine the living room with the dining room and kitchen to create a large multifunctional room. In this case, in addition to space, we get good two or even three-sided natural lighting.

Most projects offered to private developers today provide two entrances - one on the main facade, and the second leading through the terrace into courtyard. The living room itself is planned with maximum glazing, which makes the interior comfortable and makes the exterior of the building more stylish and expressive. Direct access from the living room to the terrace naturally connects the house with the garden. This is very convenient, especially in the summer, when the life of household members can take place almost throughout the entire territory of the household.

And in winter, the atmosphere of a home will be emphasized by... a hearth, that is, a fireplace located in the living room seating area, which ensures not only comfort in the house, but also effective distribution of heat in the rooms.

The day area, located on the ground floor, is designed with a compact bathroom or a full bathroom. In addition, in the part of the first floor away from the living room, there is often an office, a guest room or a bedroom for elderly family members who find it difficult to climb the stairs to the second floor. Here everything depends on the parameters of the cottage, on the composition of the family that will live in it and on the needs of future household members.

It is advisable to locate the kitchen close to the entrance. To increase efficiency and rationality, the kitchen and bathroom are designed next to each other. If possible, the kitchen area is deepened into a U-shaped niche, since this is the most convenient location. It is advisable to have a spacious pantry with a small window next to the kitchen.

Night sleeping area

The night zone is the territory of the personal rooms of all family members. It is traditionally classified as attic floor. The bedrooms located upstairs are protected by the layout itself from the noise of the guest area, as well as from the eyes of house guests. The parents' bedroom should be separated from the children's by a corridor or bathroom. In addition, it makes sense to equip the parent’s bedroom with its own separate bathroom and dressing room. The children will still have a shared bathroom. To make it easier to maintain order in children's rooms, it is better to provide a dressing room for children, where they will store seasonal clothes and shoes, sports equipment, etc.

Balconies are a special decoration of attic cottages. If desired, each bedroom can be given a separate balcony. It all depends on the tastes and capabilities of the owners. The ideal option would be an attic with two balconies - one above the porch of the main entrance, and one above the terrace. At the same time, parents will have their own balcony, and children will have their own.

Auxiliary premises - everything in its place

Dressing rooms, as mentioned above, should be located next to the bedrooms. However, an additional dressing room for outerwear can be placed on the ground floor. Another auxiliary room, the pantry, should be next to the kitchen, this has also already been mentioned. In addition to this, the house must have a pantry for storing garden tools and other household items, as well as a boiler room. If the cottage is designed with an attached garage connected to the house by an internal entrance, you can equip a boiler room and one storage room in the garage extension.

It is very important to build a house from materials that are inexpensive and can ensure its economical operation. Fortunately, modern construction technologies allow the use of fairly effective and economical materials.

In order for a house to be inexpensive both to construct and to maintain, it must have a simple rectangular shape. The more complex elements the building has in the form of bay windows, arches, etc., the more expensive the construction will be, and the more difficult it will be to provide it with the required level of heat conservation. The roof should also be simple in shape. The most economical option is the classic gable roof.

This section contains finished projects cottages for large families.

In houses from 5 to 10 bedrooms, some of which are necessarily located on the ground floor and are convenient for the older generation or children.
. Cottages have an expanded set auxiliary premises: garages, saunas, spacious workshops or spacious storage rooms, garden terraces for summer outdoor recreation. This eliminates the need to build a barbecue, shed or second house, completely freeing up the area for a vegetable garden, garden or park.

In most projects, common areas are combined into one spacious room, but can be isolated from each other. Houses with an "open" ground floor plan in the catalogue, the majority, since the arrangement of common areas in a single space without partitions is one of the design principles of our office.

GROW AND CHANGE! A feature of large families is “personnel turnover” - someone is born, marries or separates. And therefore the house should be such that it can be easily rebuilt to suit new circumstances. Interior space designed without load-bearing walls , which allows you to divide it into rooms in a different way, the way it is needed right now. The ability to change the layout of an already built multi-room house makes it more versatile and easily adaptable to the changing composition of a large family.

Where to start? What should you pay attention to? Practical experience.

I am often asked: how did you manage to build such a cozy and, at the same time, comfortable home? Who did the project for you?

I will share our experience. (Continuation of articles about our choice of land and site planning)

It all started with what I wanted own house. Two-story, spacious, with its own bedroom, children's rooms and kitchen-living room. Everything is like everyone else's dreams of a home.

At first we just looked at hundreds of cute pictures of houses. When it became clear what we liked and what we didn’t, we moved on to sites with projects. The latter differ from the former in the presence of layouts. There are a lot of sites themselves. After studying project catalogs mainly on Western sites, we had clear requirements for the house:

  1. Without ground floor. It's expensive, but we don't need it functionally
  2. No garage for cars. We decided that the garage would be a separate building, combined with a workshop and outbuildings. block. Someday later
  3. No sauna in the house. Initially we wanted exactly the opposite, but decided to save on the area of the house itself. And combine the bathhouse with guest rooms and build it later
  4. 2 floors. One would take up too much area of the site; three would make you tired of running up and down the stairs.
  5. 3 bedrooms: adult and two children's (separate for son and daughter)
  6. Dressing room combined with adult bedroom and bathroom
  7. Dressing room combined with hallway. So that all outerwear, sleds, skis, strollers, etc. can be stored right there.
  8. A study room that can sometimes serve as a guest room
  9. Your own bathroom for children and your own for parents
  10. Laundry room combined with storage space for all household items
  11. Second light and fireplace. Expensive and irrational attributes, but without them your home is not a home. In the end, everything was done for the fireplace preparatory work, but the installation itself was postponed for a couple of years
  12. Living room, dining room and kitchen - one large space, minimum walls on the ground floor
  13. Many large windows. In the living room and dining room they should be “floor-length”, they should even be in bathrooms and closets.
  14. Veranda overlooking backyard and combined with the kitchen, so that on rare occasions warm days dine al fresco
  15. A small pantry in the kitchen, so as not to take up space in the furniture with rarely used things
  16. Boiler room that meets the standards fire safety(with window, separate entrance).

Requirements such as proximity to communications and south-facing windows were taken for granted. For each room we presented the minimum and maximum allowable area. To do this, we measured all the rooms of the apartment in which we lived and sketched out a kitchen plan in an Ikea planner.

With approximately this list, we began to select a project from those sold on Russian sites. Westerners are not suitable here because of their orientation towards others climatic conditions. Advantages of buying over individual development, firstly, in cost, and secondly, often in quality. Many “serial” projects have already been built by someone, tested in practice, and in general, they were made by professional, and not “second time after graduation” architects and designers.

We were one step away from purchasing one of these projects:

But they changed their minds.

We decided to do individual project based on something already built. Some already built were found on the next website of the design organization. After discussing the project with the builders, we learned that they knew the house from photographs and it was located in Novosibirsk. We were shocked and went to watch it live.

The house turned out to be very cool, but too big and not suitable for all our requirements. They took it as a basis and remade it.

After about 15 iterations, the result was a project that satisfied all our requirements:

This way, you can choose a project that suits you best. And then contact an architect or construction company and make this project “yours”, just like we did. By following exactly this algorithm, you can avoid dozens of unsuitable projects from designers who do not know your needs and tastes.

And finally, a few practical advice how to avoid mistakes and get the house design of your dreams:

Visit the houses of acquaintances and friends more often. Observe your feelings, in which house you feel comfortable and cozy, and in which you feel uncomfortable and want to change the space.

Visualize on your site. Come to the place where you will build a house and imagine that you are in it. Place the pegs and stand on the proposed veranda, living room, kitchen. Observe where the sun is shining, what the view will be from the windows, what the neighbors are like, whether you want to be closer to them or whether you should turn the house around so that the veranda for gatherings with loved ones is in a secluded corner. It’s good to know the wind rose of your area and plan the main entrance so that you don’t have to dig out with a shovel on a winter morning. It is convenient to have a window overlooking the gate and gate to see who has come to you.

Consider your lifestyle. If you have children and you like active walks, frequent guests, or maybe you just have a large wardrobe, then plan a spacious hallway with a storage area for clothes, shoes, sports equipment, and guest hangers. Also great idea with a dryer or heated floor in the hallway, it will be very useful in winter, when a crowd of children comes running from the street and you need to dry your clothes as quickly as possible.

If you have a dog, you can plan a water source right in the hallway so you can wash your paws. This will also come in handy for barefoot children in the summer!

Big house- this means a lot of cleaning, washing and ironing. Try to optimize the space for these tasks. Plan a laundry room or one of the baths with a utility area where you can place washing machine, dryer, ironing board, detergents and various mops. It’s very convenient to immediately have containers for each family member to put clean clothes in. For example, a child carries such a container, puts clothes in their places, then leaves this container in his room, and brings the same one with dirty laundry to the bathroom. It turns out that there is always a place in the room where the child puts used clothes, without scattering dirty socks throughout the house.

You can, of course, come up with more interesting ideas, like a lift-pipe for dirty clothes in each room, through which they fall into a common basket in the laundry room. But this, as they say, is whatever your heart desires.

Storing things. When building your own home, you have a big advantage: you can avoid cabinets altogether. Plan closets, closets and mezzanines in almost every room. Look for ideas in Ikea and on websites on the Internet. This approach has long been used in the West. Plus, it can save you space and therefore reduce the cost of your home.

Children. Many people think that by moving into their own home and making children's rooms on the second floor, they will forever get rid of children's chaos and toys throughout the house. This is a mistake. Unless, of course, you are going to sit in the children's room all day long and play there with your child. Children will be where you are. Therefore, immediately think about storing toys and children's areas on both the first and second floors. I really liked the ideas when a niche was made on the ground floor and a children’s corner was equipped, a swing and a hammock hung in the living room, and the center of the room was free for running and active games. More interesting idea make separate bedrooms for children, with access to the common room play area, where shared toys are stored and everyone can spend time together. This is suitable for families where there is a small age difference between the children and they have many common interests. This idea allows you to learn to share space and things, but while maintaining the opportunity to be alone and have your favorite toys and activities.

Think outside the box. Remember that your home should please you both outside and inside. Don't build square boxes with one small window in each room. Imagine your dream home, illuminated by the morning sunlight, or maybe you have long dreamed of looking at the stars while lying on your bed in the bedroom? Why not? Everything is possible! The main thing is to plan :)

I wish you great plans and practical projects to quickly move into your dream home! If you have questions about our project, you can ask them in the comments, I will try to answer.
