!! And yet he is magnificent!!! More details about the programs.

Nokia 6310i can easily be called one of the company's legendary phones. It was released in 2002 and replaced its predecessor 6210 on the market. The phone was a representative of the business line and, in a sense, became one of the most sophisticated models of that time. New technologies and capabilities, coupled with excellent design, quickly helped win the hearts of consumers and rise to the top of sales.

In today's review, I would like to take a closer look at the Nokia 6310i phone and find out why it stood out so much from its competitors at that time and what place it could occupy today. Let's go!

Description of Nokia 6310i

So, as mentioned earlier, the model 6310 replaced the 6210, and this happened in 2002, although the phone was officially released in 2001. Externally, there are not many changes compared to the previous version, because the company decided not to touch the design, The users really liked it. But as for the hardware, the 6310 is truly a new product from Nokia, because it was here that the Bluetooth module first appeared and many other interesting features that we will definitely mention.

Appearance

As already mentioned, the appearance of the Nokia 6310i feature phone is practically the same as its predecessor - 6210, with the exception of some small details. The case itself is made of plastic, good and high quality. The assembly is traditionally beyond praise. In general, Nokia have always been very famous high quality builds, exceptions, of course, were, but still rare.

There are no control elements on the right side of the device, only closer to the top there are 2 small holes for an external speaker through which a monophonic melody is played. On the left side of the phone there is a double volume key. Regardless of which hand the user is holding the phone in, it will be equally convenient for him to increase or decrease the volume.

Next, the back of the phone. The first thing that catches your eye is the rubber plug. It is necessary to connect an external antenna if the signal level is insufficient or simply low. Only a few people used this connector, since the device maintains excellent communication.

Well, the second element on the back is a button that allows you to open the cover and gain access to the battery.

At the bottom end of the phone you can find a socket for connecting charger and connectors for a special docking station. Yes, in 2002 there were already docking stations, although they cost a lot of money.

At the top end there is a small insert made of transparent red plastic. This insert hides an infrared port, which was not uncommon in 2002, but not every manufacturer equipped their devices with such a function. Next to the infrared port is the familiar on/off button. Its movement is a little tight, but it presses well. This button also performs the profile selection function.

Well, the last thing is the front part of the phone. It contains a display, a speaker, a block of control and navigation keys, and a keyboard. At first glance, it may seem that the earpiece is located too high, but in reality it quickly becomes clear that it is located exactly in the right place.

There is a small insert around the screen, painted in a different color and with a fine pattern that can be felt very well with your fingernail. Control and navigation buttons are located below the screen. They are comfortable and press very easily.

As for the dial itself, each press of the button is accompanied by a slightly audible, pleasant click. Even after many years, dialing a number or writing an SMS message on your phone is very convenient.

Well, at the end of the description appearance It is worth mentioning the shape of the case. If you look at the device from the side, you will immediately notice the smooth curves of the body, which seem to follow the lines of a person’s face. The edges are slightly rounded, making the phone very pleasant to hold in your hand. The only thing is that the device has some problems with balancing; the center of gravity is shifted slightly to the bottom, but this is not scary.

As for colors, the Nokia 6310i was available in three colors: gray, gold and black. The insert around the screen was also different: in the first two colors it was painted in a dark gray or even graphite color, and in the black model it was bronze, although it looked more like gold. The model in black with a golden insert looked cooler, more impressive and more expensive.

Screen

The screen of the Nokia 6310i has dimensions of 96x60 pixels. Compared to 6210, it has only grown quite a bit. The display backlight is a pleasant blue. The information is also readable without any effort.

On the “desktop” you can see information about the signal level, battery charge, missed events (calls, SMS), operator name cellular communications and a small clock in the upper right corner. Actually, there is nothing more to say about the screen.

Characteristics

Now one of the most important points of review is the characteristics of the Nokia 6310i. The first thing to start with is the size. The length of the phone is almost 13 cm (129 mm), width is 47 mm, but the thickness varies. In the very thin spot it is 17 mm, and closer to the top, in the screen area, the figure reaches 21 mm. The phone, by the way, weighs 110 grams, which is not so much.

Everything has already been said about the screen above, so it’s probably worth a few words about memory. It has increased significantly compared to many previous devices and now allows you to store up to 500 names in the phone book, and up to three numbers can be recorded for each contact. In addition, a record of the last 20 outgoing, incoming and missed calls is always stored in memory, which is quite convenient.

The phone can also receive up to 150 SMS messages, save 10 voice messages and provides the ability to add notes to the calendar in an amount of from 100 to 250 pieces.

Among the innovations we can note a noticeably improved vibration motor, the operation of which is very well felt during a call. The ability to download monophonic ringtones has not gone away, because there are not very many standard ones here.

And of course, we cannot fail to mention perhaps the two most important innovations - support for Bluetooth and Java.

In 2002, not every phone had these two technologies, so in a sense, Nokia became one of the first companies to succeed in this. Of course, Bluetooth was not very useful, because there were not many third-party devices or devices with this technology, even the same wireless headsets for communication. No, of course they existed, but firstly, they were expensive, and secondly, it was extremely difficult to get them.

Java was also a complete innovation. To demonstrate how this technology works, the phone even included two specially developed applications - a game called Racket (simple tennis) and the Nokia Converter program.

Yes, the implementation of the two new technologies was a little lame, but at least it was real technical progress for the company.

Connection

As befits a real business-class phone, the Nokia 6310i worked on GSM frequencies 900 and 1900, which allowed it to easily receive signals from cell towers almost anywhere in the world.

The phone also has Internet access via WAP and GPRS protocols. Well, for complete happiness, the ability to write and send emails was introduced into the functionality.

Battery

The battery in the Nokia 6310i costs 1100 mAh, which allows the device to work without recharging for up to 18 days in standby mode and up to 10 hours of continuous talk time. Simply fantastic, which modern smartphones have never even dreamed of.

Price

At the moment, you can buy a Nokia 6310i push-button phone from 2,500 rubles. not in very good condition. Brand new devices (there are also such ones) are sold at fantastic prices from 10 to 50 thousand rubles.

The Nokia 6310i is an improved version of the Nokia 6310, developed by the Finnish company of the same name. That's why full review We won’t make devices today, but we’ll talk about what makes the improved version stand out in one light or another compared to the basic one. By the way, let us immediately note that the device has a “brother”. This is a Nokia 6310i Mercedes Benz phone, which is distinguished by the corresponding external designations.

What did the updated version get?

The device is equipped with the ability to work with an additional range. More specifically, this is GSM 1900. Thus, the Nokia 6310i E220 phone is instantly transformed, both physically and psychologically, into a business-class device. In fact, the integration of chips to work with the new range means that Nokia can be used not only in Europe, but also in the United States of America. On the other hand, a similar feature was added to many devices even before the release of the 6310i version. But what is causing such a delay in the integration of the updated functional part is a completely different story.

Will we notice the backlight?

Definitely. And it’s not just that we notice half-heartedly: this improvement simply catches the eye of all those who were familiar with the previous model, that is, the Nokia 6310. Here it is, by the way, pale blue. Only the screen is actively illuminated, but this is quite enough to appreciate the innovation. This modernization was described by many experts in the field of mobile technology as positive, since reading text from the display has become much more convenient. And although a large share of the intensity falls on this functional part, the backlight also extends to the keys, albeit to a lesser extent. Which, in principle, cannot but rejoice.

What influenced the developers' decision?

Nokia 6310i, a photo of which you can view in this article, is a direct continuation of the base model 6310. As mentioned earlier, this is a modernized variation with introduced innovations. So you can only logically guess that here the engineers and designers decided to learn from their mistakes that they made when designing and manufacturing the basic device. There, if anyone remembers, the letters are like individual characters were perceived very poorly. They practically merged, forming one incomprehensible word. But what remains unchanged is the shape of the keys and their sizes, as well as color options and body contours. All this is, so to speak, an inheritance from its predecessor.

Main change

This “title” can probably be given to innovations applied to the phone’s engineering menu. Or rather, not to it as a whole, but specifically to the section called “Applications”, or in English Application. Here you can see a couple of pre-installed Java applications. They demonstrate what new technologies embedded in the device’s hardware platform are capable of.

More about the programs

The first of them is Nokia Converter. With its help, you can convert numerical values between systems of measures. Well, for example, you know how many degrees Celsius it is outside. And you need to know the answer in Fahrenheit. To do this, you can use a program called “Nokia Converter”. Actually, it is intended for various groups. This includes mass, length, and much more.

The second program is called World Clock. If translated into Russian, this is the “World Clock”. Let's agree that we will call it a system utility on the Java platform. It allows you to find out what time it is at the moment anywhere in the world. Or rather, only large cities are included in the calculation. However, sometimes the program can bring noticeable benefits. It can be used very simply, although certain compliances are observed for the built-in functionality. But we don’t need more.

Upgradeability

You can always update your Java applications. To do this, you will only need to establish a connection via the WAP standard. To do this, you need to take care in advance to collect the relevant information. More specifically, check whether the available version matches the one on your phone. If the programs are not needed at all, then you can uninstall them. Although when it comes to memory, you need to be careful. The device provides only 140 kB. This volume is enough for a two-minute recording on a voice recorder. This is so that the reader can simply imagine the scale of the problem.

Software problems

This point has not gone away. Just as the predecessor of the model in our review today suffered from it, so does she, in fact, herself. Java applications take quite a long time to load even by those standards. For example, to fully deploy Nokia Converter, you should wait about ten seconds. For such a relatively simple application, such indicators are rather overestimated. The engineers were probably too lazy to do anything here. To find out a clear answer to this question, one could conduct a test between Nokia and its direct competitor Siemens. However, the functional part of the programs on these two devices is different, which, unfortunately, radically negates the possibility of carrying out comparative analysis due to inequalities.

What if you try to open the game?

The impossibility of comparing similar programs on these two devices did not stop the experts, who, in their desire to find out which phone would win in this parameter, decided to go all the way. We can say that they deliberately decided to play along with Nokia by launching a rather “heavy” game on Siemens. But the results were as impressive as they were unexpected. It turned out that even in this case, the latter is ahead of the object of our today's review by a couple of seconds. This once again confirmed the guess that engineers either could not or did not want (which seems more likely) to optimize Java applications on Nokia.

Nokia 6310i: characteristics and parameters

The device was developed and released in 2002. Works in three GSM bands. As a source battery life Built-in lithium polymer battery. It is designed for a capacity of 1100 milliamps per hour. In standby mode, the device can “live” up to 410 hours. The battery, by the way, charges from 0 to 100 percent in just one hour. The form factor is classic, there are no surprises here. We have already talked about memory; there is only 160 kilobytes of it. Not so hot, of course. The charging input is classic, there is no need to talk about any USB.

Verdict

In general, it’s unlikely to describe the device as something worthwhile. Yes and exchange basic model It’s hardly worth it for an improved one. There are, of course, a couple of pleasant innovations that can be appreciated, but nothing more. Globally, practically nothing has changed, and paying extra for improvements in the part of the screen (and we are talking about the backlight) seems at least illogical.

Nokia 6310i - And yet it is great!!!

19.12.2005

I understand that the purchase is probably very late. I understand that many consider this model to be morally outdated. And that many will be scared off by the size, the lack of a camera, and even more so a color display and polyphony... And yet, a few days ago I still bought this phone and consider myself to be its happy owner.

I’ll say right away that six months ago I bought and used for some time a regular Nokia 6310, not an Ike. My story about this phone is. Therefore, if in this story of mine some points coincide with the review of the previous model, please do not blame me; I don’t consider quoting myself as plagiarism. Moreover, the 6310i functional coincide in many ways, and, accordingly, aika inherited a significant part of both the strengths and shortcomings of its predecessor.

However, from the point of view of use (i.e. sensations and external perception), I consider these models different phones(arguments below). Therefore, I consider it possible to devote a separate story to the 6310th.

With this, I solemnly declare the lyrical introduction complete and begin the actual story about the telephone, the platonic feelings for which have finally become full-fledged.

How long have you had this phone?

To the criteria listed there, I’ll only add that during operation, I was categorically dissatisfied with the poor green backlight (something that was categorically disliked in devices of past years already at that time and is not liked now). Today, even in state-priced devices (the same Siemens A70 or Nokia 1101), the backlight is much more attractive. So what I purchased, of course, made me happy, but I wanted more(which we managed to achieve).

Well, a few words directly about the purchased device. The device was purchased in the Lightning Silver color option (silver), in “B” condition (a couple of small scratches and barely noticeable abrasions and a small chip at the upper end of the front panel - during a month of deliberation, the previous owner managed to unsuccessfully drop the phone, which reduced the The price for me is just the cost of the new front panel - and for the /6310i it is very expensive). The package includes only the “native” charger (by the way, FWHK, for some reason it is considered to be of higher quality than Astec and Salcomp, although everything is Made in China). I wanted, of course, a complete set (box, documents, disk with software, which also serve as a significant additional guarantee of the legality of the device’s origin). But there were no other options at the time of purchase and were not visible in the future, so I had to agree to what was offered. Seems to be ok for now...

What do you like? Strengths telephone, dignity.

  • as in the previous model - magnificent design and ergonomics. Which the new lighting (more about it below) raised to a completely different level. The device immediately makes an impression status things (although by origin it belongs to the segment of business devices). But in my understanding, status characterizes not only the material wealth of the owner of the device, but also some of his character traits and attitude to life (and /6310ai in this regard - serious apparatus for serious people). In short... Strictly. Laconically. Solid. Not cheap. I didn't specifically write " expensive", because this is more appropriate in relation to Vertu, or at least, which were intended that way;
  • p o d s v e t k a!!! In the 6310ai it became soft blue on the display and almost white on the keyboard. This is what sharply distinguishes the phone from its mobile counterparts and makes it, in comparison with its predecessor, in terms of external perception (both of the owner and those around him) a completely different phone. Today you won’t surprise anyone with a color display, but even despite this, when the backlight is visible in the 6310ai, it (in combination with the extraordinary design as a whole) invariably attracts the attention of others (and interested, not sympathetic). I observed something similar only with regard to the Siemens ME45 Winter Edition (if anyone doesn’t know, it’s silver-blue with a crimson display backlight and translucent keys, my wife has been using this for 2 years and doesn’t want to part with it voluntarily). Again, there is only one epithet on the tongue - fabulous!
  • new (compared to) quite pleasant pre-installed ringtones (but I don’t know if this is a feature of the 6310ai, or latest version firmware that I have installed). It is clear that if you have WAP and GPRS this is not critical (you can download anything), but it is still nice. Personally, of the standard set of ringtones, despite its simplicity, I liked Equilibrium the most - it’s what people around me hear from the speaker of my phone;
  • When there is an incoming call, the display shows not only the caller’s name from the address book and an icon of his phone type, but also the number itself caller Again, I don’t know if this is a feature of the 6310ai model itself or the latest firmware version, but sometimes it can be very useful. For example, to find out whether a subscriber is calling from a mobile number of your network or from a number of another operator: not all tariffs include free incoming calls. everyone mobile, sometimes only within the network;
  • I had difficulties with sending and receiving “long” SMS (that is, an incoming long SMS was split into several, and in one outgoing SMS you could only write 160 characters in Latin or 70 in Cyrillic). In Ike, everything is fine with this - it “glues” both incoming and outgoing into one;
  • third range (1900). For most, this is not critical, but for people who often visit the USA and other countries with such a standard range, at one time this was a very pleasant addition to the standard capabilities;
  • Java. Again, it’s not critical to me (if only you put the metro map into your phone), but its appearance in the phone was not superfluous - that’s for sure.
  • excellent connection quality;
  • nice timbre transmitting the voice of the interlocutor (and the speaker in the Ike feels more powerful than in a simple one, although, perhaps, in mine the speaker has simply begun to shrink - its age allows this);
  • excellent address book and organizer;
  • reliability and stability of operation;
  • on-air voice recorder. Alas, because of Java it was cut down to 2 minutes, but, like in , it turns on very conveniently (important for recording during a call);
  • battery. At the time of writing the story, the 3rd day after the purchase ends. During this time the device experienced:
    • filling 270 contacts via the infrared port ("poured" directly from , my fingers began to get confused and my eyes dazzled. But - alas - I never made friends with the computer in terms of synchronization (and there was no particular need), so it turned out to be the best accessible method);
    • a close study of all the “insides” of the menu;
    • repeated listening to melodies (during which, again, the backlight turns on - you press the keys during this process);
    • and a decent amount of talking.
    The charge indicator shows 5 bars out of 7 (even though the battery is not new). I won’t comment - against the backdrop of modern devices with their energy consumption, everything is already clear.

What's not to like? Weaknesses, flaws.

No speakerphone(something I forgot to mention in my review). Not the most important function in a phone, but in a number of situations it is very, very useful (and what’s a shame is that in the Siemens / /SL 45 - “classmates” of the 6310i - this function worked perfectly, and not to the detriment of the rest of the functionality). An example of the usefulness of this function is the need to call the subscriber service of a cellular company (sometimes you have to wait up to 10 minutes before connecting with an operator). I don’t want to walk (or sit, lie down) all this time with the receiver to my ear, listening to the melody installed on the company switchboard (it’s good if you come across a pleasant one). absolutely. So I won’t do much campaigning - and it’s clear that speakerphone needed.

The 6310ai successfully inherited the remaining shortcomings from its predecessors:

  • inability to switch language when entering without changing the menu language;
  • "one-time" alarm clock;
  • limited IrDA and Bluetooth functionality;
  • not very pleasant timbre of the call signal (for me the ideal is how it is done in Siemens / ME45);
  • not the most convenient (especially in comparison with modern models) WAP browser;
  • as well as the lack of a normal four-position Navi-key (again, the mentioned Siemens comes to mind as an example).

    I don’t think it’s worth scolding Nokia engineers for this - the still existing demand for the 6310ai confirms this. There is more good in the device than bad.

    What do you miss about it?

    Elimination of the listed shortcomings. And also - opportunities to buy new 6310ai due to the discontinuation of the model (in my opinion, completely unjustified).

    And what I definitely don’t suffer from is the lack of multimedia gadgets (polyphony, color screen, camera, player, etc.). Played with all this to capacity during the period active use. Tired of it, I wanted to use it phone. Which I do with success.

    What phone features do you use often?

    • note;
    • organizer and calendar;
    • call lists;
    • calculator;
    • alarm.

    What phone features do you use occasionally?

    • GPRS-WAP (news, weather, checking whether new letters have arrived by e-mail, I read mainly later on the computer);
    • IrDA (basically, transfer contacts or notes from phone to phone);
    • Bluetooth (for the same);
    • stopwatch;
    • timer;
    • currency converter;
    • games.

    What functions do you not use at all?

    GPRS modem - I don’t need it yet, although it’s always nice to have such an option in reserve.

    Did you have to repair your phone?

    For the past 3 days of use - not yet. I hope that in the future I won’t have to. I only plan to change the front panel. You can walk as you are, but you still want it to be thing looked the part. I gained experience in independently disassembling and reassembling the device in the process of cleaning the previously acquired internal parts from dust. I think I can handle it this time too.

    What troubles happened with your phone?

    I don't have any yet. The previous owner, apparently, fell several times (well, you can’t trust such phones in the unreliable hands of modern youth), one of the falls led to a partial loss of presentation (see above), which, in turn, reduced the selling price.

    What glitches were noticed?

    There is nothing to scold about. So far everything is working normally, reliably and stably.

    Try to compare the phone with other models you have used.

    • definitely better in everything;
    • in terms of connection quality it is comparable to, but in other respects it outperforms;
    • is comparable in almost every way to the Messer. The only thing is that if the Messer is more perceived as a “working” pipe for everyday active (sometimes extreme) use, then the 6310ai for me is a sophisticated classic, incompatible with countryside, camping and picnic situations. Hence greater prestige and more high price this model;
    • partly comparable to (we were practically classmates at one time, many were tormented by the problem of choosing 6310i vs). For me personally (despite the size!!!) the 6310ai is more convenient and pleasant;
    • in comparison with - completely different devices of completely different generations and different directions. Among its multimedia brethren, it looked quite decent for quite a long time (perhaps still does). 6310ai - simple other pipe, this telephone. A device from the past that has retained the ability to be very, very convenient and useful in the present;
    • and finally, 6310i vs. My opinion is that Aika is better in many respects (in what specific areas - again, see above). If I had the opportunity to immediately buy this model, I would never buy a simple one. This is truly a device from the past, although it is a rarity.

    What more can you say?

    I can’t help but comment on the size of the /6310ai, which confuses many. Naturally, in the hands of a teenager (or sticking out of a school backpack) the 6310ai will look ridiculous. Well, for the people who were target audience device initially, the problem of “where to put such a hefty pipe” does not exist. Because I almost always have a briefcase or something else in my hands to carry something that is used at work in addition to the phone. And in the fall-winter-spring, there’s also a jacket on the shoulders, by the way, with many pockets (and the device, although long, is thin enough, so it doesn’t overwhelm the pockets too much). But such dimensions provide (for me personally) ideal ergonomics and ease of use of the device (as during a conversation, when optimal distance from ear to microphone, and in other situations related to typing or menu navigation, for example). , in favor of which I at one time refused the opportunity to buy new 6310ai, in terms of ergonomics, was not even close. I constantly touched the wrong keys, and I had to handle the Navi-Kay like a sapper with a mine (I scolded him). Of the modern devices, perhaps the Nokia 6170 did not cause any discomfort in these parameters. But this, alas, is a clamshell I don’t like (although it’s well made, the only model in this form factor that gives me a feeling of such reliability), plus in terms of functionality it’s a cut below the one I have. So it was never even considered as a purchase option.

    Well, in terms of colors. Although, according to the authors of a number of 6310i reviews, the Jet Black color (black and gold, I have a simple one) is considered the most attractive, in the process of personal communication with the devices, I personally liked the silver version more. Black has 2 undeniable advantages:

    • it is more original (which significantly increases the “recognizability” of the device, although today this is practically no longer relevant);
    • black devices “rub” much less, because scratches and abrasions occur mainly on the golden insert and on the small insert at the bottom of the device; the black plastic of the case itself is unpainted, so it does not peel off.

    The front panels of light-colored devices (Mistral Beige, and silver, of course) are painted entirely, so damage occurs over their entire surface. However, the color original The panels are quite resistant, so if used carefully, everything is not so bad. Well, they look brighter and more attractive than black.

    In general, for me personally, an era has ended on the 6310ai phones. What manufacturers delight us with (or think they delight us with) today is increasingly moving towards multimedia combines, for which providing communication capabilities is just one of the functions (and in some cases far from the most important).

    This really makes many people happy, but I’m used to seeing it on my phone telephone. Therefore, what manufacturers have forcibly transferred to the “public sector” segment (with a number of rare exceptions such as Siemens AX 72 /, which are equipped with excellent address books, organizers and others telephone functions; Well done Germans - they didn’t skimp), for me it cannot be considered full-fledged and a worthy replacement for the 6310ai. Alas...

    Definitely 10 points upon release. For me it remains the same today. Others can deduct a certain number of points depending on how important it is to you that the phone has an extensive set of multimedia functions (the 6310ai, of course, does not have this).

    Regarding recommendations - again, it is difficult to recommend something that in the very near future will become nothing more than a museum exhibit. Who knows- That will understand and if possible, will buy it. Why - the arguments are above. Well, of course, it’s up to you to decide...

    BigRedCat

  • This article is not a review in the full sense of the word, since the 6310i is functionally almost identical to the base 6310 model. We will only focus on those features that have been changed or added; everyone who is interested detailed description capabilities, communication quality and operating time of the Nokia 6310i, I refer you to the corresponding review.

    The updated version has an additional GSM1900 band, the presence of which allows us to call this model a real business device: it can be used not only in Europe, but also in America. This feature should have been added a long time ago, and what is causing the delay in its implementation is unclear: from a technical point of view, the third band is not a problem. The second change that literally catches your eye is the new, pastel blue backlight of the display (the rest of the characteristics of which remain the same). Information with this type of backlight is readable, and the phone itself looks more noble. The keyboard backlight also changed its color to a soft blue, making the symbols on the keys much more visible. Apparently, the developers took into account the experience of the 6310 model, where the letters simply merged with each other. In terms of the size and shape of the keys, body outline and color options, the Nokia 6310i is no different from its predecessor, the 6310.

    The main change affected the menu, more precisely the Application section, where two pre-installed Java applications appeared, demonstrating the capabilities of the technology.

    Nokia Converter allows you to convert values from one system of measures to another, for example, calculate how many degrees Fahrenheit is equal to 25 degrees Celsius. The same can be done with measures of length, weight, etc.

    World Clock. The world time function is organized as a Java application; There is a search by name and the ability to set the time for any city from the list. Everything is very simple, but nothing more is required from this function.

    Java applications can be updated via a wap connection (after checking the available version with the one installed on the phone) and, of course, deleted. There is not much free memory - about 140 KB, and it was allocated due to one minute of voice recording, total time which in the case of the Nokia 6310i is two minutes (versus 3 minutes in the 6310).

    It seemed to me that Java applications take quite a long time to load. So, Nokia Converter starts up in about 7-9 seconds, which is quite a lot for such an application. Unfortunately, it was not possible to directly compare the loading time of these applications on the 6310i and Siemens phones, since both the size and functionality of the programs are different. For comparison, we chose a fairly “heavy” toy that ran on Siemens Sl45i and Nokia Converter. I would say that the device from Siemens wins by a couple of seconds, but please note that such a comparison is not entirely correct: both the Java implementation and the age of the devices themselves differ (the SL45i was released much earlier). In terms of this parameter, it makes sense to compare the Nokia 6310i with the Siemens S45i, which will appear on the market in the near future.

    The phone has another Java application - the game Racket, which is a version of tennis, simple and not very interesting.

    The pre-installed set of applications for the Nokia 6310i was supposed to show the potential of this device using Java, but, in my opinion, the demonstration was not very successful: everything was too basic and unattractive. Knowing the company's software development policy, we can hope that in the coming months there will be many interesting applications that you can install on your phone.

    If you remember, already in the 6310 such a function as bluetooth appeared, but its implementation left much to be desired: the phone did not add an Ericsson headset to the list of paired devices, although it worked fine with it in manual mode, occasionally randomly rebooting. Already in May, a proprietary headset from Nokia is expected to go on sale, which should work properly with these devices - apparently, changes were made to the phone software that do not meet this standard.

    Testing the 6310i showed that the implementation of bluetooth in this device is not up to par: you can add a headset to the list of paired devices (as you remember, this could not be done previously), but later the phone loses it; Periodic reboots of the phone in data transfer mode using bluetooth have also been preserved. The function still remains unfinished, although in manual mode the phone recognizes most devices and works with them.

    The device does not have an automatic keyboard lock (which is already present in the Nokia 6510), which, apparently, is explained by some political or marketing considerations: there are no technical restrictions.

    Among the minor innovations, it is worth noting the Write e-mail option that has appeared in the Messages menu. I hasten to disappoint: built-in mail client the phone either wasn’t there or isn’t - the new option makes it possible to send a message to email via SMS. Of course, for those who use this service, the menu item that appears will be useful - the majority will simply not pay attention to it.

    Considering that the Nokia 6310 was at least six months late to the market, it is not worth saying that the Nokia 6310i was released on time, since, in fact, it is the same device with slightly modified capabilities. It can be assumed that the Nokia 6310i is exactly the device that the developers of the 6310 model were focusing on from the very beginning, but did not manage to prepare it for release in an acceptable time frame. The updated version will go on sale in May and will cost 20-30 dollars more than the basic one. This money is worth paying for the third band if you really need it - there are no other reasons to buy this device. And even more so, there is no need to change the basic version to an updated one.

    Nokia 6210 (predecessor 6310) in terms of price/quality ratio was one of the best devices in its segment and sold very well - the 6310 and 6310i models are sold much worse and are inferior to phones in their class not only in functionality, equipment, but also in price. The main advantage of the 6310(i) is the operating time of the lithium-polymer battery; otherwise, the characteristics are either comparable, or Nokia devices are inferior to competitors. Let's hope that the next business phone from Nokia will not be a modified version of the old platform, but a model that carries fundamentally new ideas that will be interesting to customers.

    We thank the Nokia representative office for the phone provided.

    What I didn't like

    For 10! Years of use have not found any shortcomings.

    What I liked

    Quality. Functionality. Indestructibility. Durability. Simplicity and convenience.

    What I didn't like

    Alas, it's an old model.

    What I liked

    One of the best Nokia devices for men. Fits perfectly in the hand; comfortable keyboard - you can easily type SMSs blindly. Fast, reliable, nothing superfluous - perhaps best choice, if you only need to make calls and send SMS.

    What I didn't like

    There are no disadvantages.

    What I liked

    Everything except the shortcomings.

    What I didn't like

    Over the years of use, no shortcomings have been found.

    What I liked

    Great phone! I've been using it for 6 years and have no plans to change. Holds the charge perfectly (still lasts for a week). Trouble-free, convenient menu, pleasant to hold in your hand. I'm not going to change anything as long as it works.

    What I didn't like

    They were not found. There was a complaint that it became difficult to hear the interlocutor, but I think this is the result of his immersion in water))

    What I liked

    Visually and tactilely very pleasant - High-quality assembly - For a long time battery life - Quite functional for phones of its time - Shock resistant (tested in practice)

    What I didn't like

    This model is the only phone that is supported in five-year-old Mercedes equipped with a hands-free device. That is, because of this, such a phone is still quite difficult to buy, and it sells for quite a lot of money.

    What I liked

    Most best phone of all times and peoples, one of the first models of business phones. It was released quite a long time ago, but still sells for a lot of money. Very convenient, practically indestructible. The battery lasts 3-5 days (for such an old model this is a lot). Ergonomics are excellent - fits comfortably in the hand, thin - fits well in your pocket.

    What I didn't like

    There is no autokey lock.

    What I liked

    Reliability. Quality. Convenience. I've been using it for about 6.5 years. The device fell, sank, cars drove over it, etc. Amazingly convenient “sleep” alarm mode with a pause of TEN minutes! Just what you need! (5 minutes in other phones does not allow you to doze off without straining)

    What I didn't like

    The phone has no flaws, only the software conflicted with Piggy on the PC.

    What I liked

    A super device, it could kill everything that a phone without multimedia should be able to do, with a 1700 mAh battery from Sotel, it worked for a week with fairly intense conversations without recharging

    What I didn't like

    Lots of scratches on the front side and a crack on the side of the screen. Of course, I would like to be able to change the body, but, obviously, this would lead to a decrease in strength.

    What I liked

    just a phone that has nothing extra. just a phone that is designed for almost round-the-clock communication. just a phone that you forget to charge. As they write here, it lasts 5-7 days without any problems. Its convenience is beyond doubt. A phone that fits the entire palm of your hand and pleases with its shapes and sizes. Its strength is beyond doubt - a monolith, strong and ready to work again after the next fall on the asphalt. SINCE 2003 he lives and pleases. It works great in the car.

    What I didn't like

    1. Sometimes you want faster internet. :)
    2. There is no speakerphone, and the headset is not always convenient to use.
    3. Sinks in water. :(
    Despite all its shortcomings, there is no replacement for it. :(

    What I liked

    1. Excellent speaker! Very high quality sound.2. Lack of polyphony! Loud ringer and noticeable vibrator.3. Lack of color display! In daylight, you can look at the screen without turning on the backlight.4. Powerful battery. I have to talk a lot, but I don’t worry that my phone will suddenly die. Over the entire period of using the 6310i model (8+ years), this happened at most five.5 times. Fits comfortably in the hand. Weight is just what the doctor ordered. Not heavy, not light. You can press your ear to your shoulder.6. Correct buttons, conveniently located for touch typing, I never miss.7. Convenient navigation through the menu and phone book. Everything is clear, no unnecessary clicks. You remember to quickly dial the necessary items by numbers: “Menu, 4-1” - alarm clock, “Menu, 2-5-1” - duration last call, etc.8. Possibility of connecting an external antenna, incl. via car kit.9. Sturdy body! The device regularly falls to the floor from half a meter, nothing is done to it. There were also more serious falls, such that the battery flew off to the side. :)10. Reliable! 8 years of use - normal flight. :) There are minimal software glitches, although mine has firmware 5.22 - one of the first.

    What I liked

    The main advantages: design, functionality, battery charge.

    What I didn't like

    time does its job, he has aged, I have not found any disadvantages over the past few years

    What I liked

    able to survive a war, falls, sinks, swims up... and then still works, comfortable to hold and squeeze the keys, especially after several years of use

    What I didn't like

    After 13 years of operation, the contact petals began to press poorly against the battery.

    What I liked

    For that time it is simply magnificent, all the necessary functions and even more, the area is always magnificent.

    What I didn't like

    Unfortunately, it is already morally outdated...

    What I liked

    Reliability

    What I didn't like

    Small memory for contacts. I’ll make a reservation that at work I use a very large number of contacts. For the average user, the 6310i's memory will most likely be quite enough.
    No speakerphone.
    Voice recorder for only 2 minutes.

    What I liked

    Completely unkillable. I purchased this phone in 2003, and until 2009 (!), until I lost it, it continued to work without the slightest complaints, although it went through fire and water (literally!); For 6 years, the original battery did not degrade at all, the charge continued to last for 5-7 days with 1-3 hours of calls per day. Amazing ergonomics. Optimal weight and size. For example, dialing SMS and numbers on the street in winter without taking off your gloves is not difficult. The highest quality of materials and workmanship (I had a German one), it’s a real pleasure to hold the 6310i in your hands. Now, alas, they don’t do THAT. The highest quality of reception (reliably picks up the cell in the most problematic areas) and communication. Convenient and thoughtful organizer. Very loud ringing and excellent vibration, you won't miss a call under any circumstances. Availability of bluetooth. The design is great in my opinion.
