What to do if your Android smartphone stops syncing with your Google account? Google Android account synchronization error.

Previously, we had to write down contacts in special phone books and notepads, and those of us who could boast of excellent memory simply memorized them. Those old phones we used a little less than 10 years ago had too little memory to hold all the familiar phone numbers.
Those whose positions required them to have many contacts used organizers. "Planners" ordinary people were unavailable - they were expensive.
As soon as the first models began to appear mobile devices, which had software on iOS and Android, synchronization was in the air. And only with the advent of the fourth version of Android (Ice Cream Sandwich) and iOS, we learned to understand this mysterious word.

In this article we will tell you how you can synchronize contacts on smartphones with the Google Android and Apple iOS operating systems.

Google - Android

We learned about the possibility of synchronization in Google Android when accounts appeared in email addresses. With the account we could:
  • go to the application store;
  • navigate in time;
  • synchronize contacts;
  • look for your mobile device if it gets lost;
  • and this is not all the possibilities.
You don’t have to have an account, but then the smartphone owner is deprived of many benefits. And the user will learn about the capabilities of the mobile device only after activating a Google account.

Contacts on Android syncs with Google to keep everything you have across all your mobile devices in one place. This is very convenient if you have several devices. For example, your smartphone, iPad, smart watch and a couple of other gadgets store different phone numbers. It seems like there shouldn't be any problems, but...

You urgently need to make a call, but the tablet on which this contact is stored is out of access or discharged. And now the question arises: how to make sure that this situation does not arise? Simple, if you combine all the phone numbers from all your mobile devices and move them to one place - account Google. How to do this, read on.

Go to settings, scroll down until you see the appropriate item.

Click on it and you will see the “Add account” button. Click again and move on.

Here you will see all the programs that are already preinstalled. All require an account (entering a password and nickname). Things may look slightly different on your device. For example, if you use the free calling program, Skype, it will be displayed for you.

What is important to us here is not the number of pre-installed programs, but the Google account. Click on your account.

If you have one, enter your password and nickname, if you don’t have one, register.

We recommend that if you do not yet have an account, register on a personal computer or laptop rather than on a mobile device. When registration is completed, log into your account and click on the icon with arrows in the right corner. The synchronization process is complete.

Open the Contacts tab on your mobile device.

Call the context menu (special button with settings) and click as indicated in the picture below.

Where will you synchronize the numbers from: from a SIM card or smartphone memory? Once selected, click “Next”.

Select your email account as the new contact storage.

You can transfer any contacts to cloud storage. Click on the required ones, click on the icon and wait for the procedure to complete.

You can check the success of synchronization in your email by going to: . On this page you will see all the phone numbers that were stored on your devices.

Edit all contacts to your taste, dividing them into groups. What if when updating software, critical errors will occur, you will not lose any of your phone numbers, since they are all uploaded to the cloud storage.

iOS - Google

Owners of an iPhone with the iOS operating system also use Google search engine services.

To synchronize or simply transfer all contacts from your iPhone to your Google email service, you need to do a few simple steps. Open apps and find settings.

Select "Mail". Click on this item and go to the tab where you can add an account.

You will be offered several mail services. Select Google Mail.

Carefully fill out all fields, especially the second and third. The first field is for a nickname or name, and in the description field you can give the name of the new phone book.

Click on synchronize contacts.

You won't see anything in your contact list. To complete the transfer (copy) procedure, contacts must be synchronized back.

Go to the settings of the mail service and find the section with contacts. Click on “Contacts from mail”.

Open contacts and wait for the synchronization procedure to complete. Everything went well.

Make it a habit not to clutter the memory of your mobile devices with hundreds of numbers. Storing contacts on the cloud will allow you to:
  • save space in the device memory;
  • do not be afraid of flashing;
  • do not be afraid of accidental deletions;
  • create groups of people.
Contacts on the cloud can be edited as you wish. It is much more convenient to do this from a computer than from a mobile device.

Combining all mobile devices into one account is a convenient innovation that will allow you not to lose contacts and always have access to them.

Smartphones running the Android operating system are so popular among users because of their affordable price, large quantities free applications and very rich functionality, which, by the way, can be increased. But this won't be needed in in this case: A function such as synchronizing contacts with Google on Android is available to the user without any smartphone upgrades.

Why is this necessary?

The function of synchronizing contacts from your phone with a Google account was created specifically to protect phone numbers from loss as a result of breakdown or loss of your native gadget. It just seems that phone numbers are easy to recover. However, as practice shows, many users, in the event of any incident with a mobile device, grieve more about irretrievably lost phone numbers. This is because you can buy a phone and a SIM card anywhere, but some numbers, such as those of distant relatives or business partners, can be very difficult, if not impossible, to obtain.

To ensure that there are as few such tragic cases as possible, the Android developers have introduced such a useful function.

How to sync contacts with Google on Android?

You can do this simple operation as follows. The first thing you need to do is create a Google account. We will assume that this point has already been completed, since without it it is impossible not only to synchronize, but also to go to the Play Market and, accordingly, download anything. However, if it so happens that there is no such account, you must create one on google.com.

So, there is an account. Now we go to the settings of the smartphone, look for an item such as “Accounts and synchronization” and go to it. Here you can see all accounts not only from Google, but also from other applications, for example, Webmoney, VKontakte accounts, mail.ru and others. However, we won't need the extra ones. By the way, in the section where all accounts are presented, in the upper right corner there is a synchronization switch slider. So, before synchronizing contacts with Google on Android, you need to click on it for the data exchange to begin. If it is already turned on, do not touch it. Let's return to our account. Let's go into it. We put a tick (if not) next to the contacts, simultaneously marking what we consider necessary.

Halfway to success

We succeeded in connecting the phone and PC through synchronization, now we need to think about how to synchronize contacts with Google on Android 4.4 and other versions operating system. We go to the phone book, open options and press a button like Back up, “Export to”.

After clicking, a choice will appear of where the backup copy of the phone book will be saved. We save it to the memory card.

Click "Options" again, but now the choice will fall to the "Import" button. In the list of import paths that appears, select “Memory card”, then click on the account email address.

The search for a backup copy on the memory card will begin, and when it is found, we mark it with a bird and begin the import process. Just wait a few minutes and all phone numbers will be copied to your account.

Transferring contacts to a new smartphone

To transfer your phone book, you need to do nothing more than synchronize contacts with Google on Android 4.2 and other versions. We perform the same manipulations as described above. Namely: go to “Settings”, open the “Accounts and synchronization” section and start the data transfer process. After that, already familiar phone numbers will appear in the phone book.

Where can I see these contacts on a PC?

We figured out how to synchronize contacts with Google on Android via a PC. Now let's see where they can be found on the computer. Why do this? Well, first of all, out of interest. Secondly, these contacts can be edited: add photos, divide phone numbers into groups and much more. Thirdly - this great opportunity get acquainted with your Google account and find out what advantages it has over other accounts from

In the address bar of the browser, enter the address mail.google.com and log in. At the top left we find the Gmail button with an arrow, click on it and switch to “Contacts”. All phone numbers that were copied from the mobile device appear on the screen.

What can you do here? Once you open a contact, you can change it by clicking on the pencil. Here you can add:

  • email;
  • organization;
  • job title;
  • pseudonym;
  • photo;
  • address;
  • birthday, etc.

But the matter is not limited to simply editing a contact. So, phone numbers can be entered into circles (family, friends, acquaintances, etc.), placed in groups, found similar profiles, etc.

If there is a problem how to sync contacts with Google on Android, but the ability to sync in the usual way no (for example, there is no Internet on the phone, but there is on the computer), you can proceed as follows.

First, create a backup copy of the phone book. That is, go to the phone book, click “Export” and save. Now you need to transfer this backup file to your computer using any in a convenient way. Then go to Google mail, also switch to “Contacts”. But now in the left toolbar, click on “More”, where you need to select “Import”. Select the file with the backup copy of the phone book and click on “Import”, after which all the numbers from the smartphone will appear.

You can perform such a procedure as synchronizing contacts from Google on Android with a photo, in the same way back to your smartphone. Only now on the toolbar in email Click on "Export" and save in vCard format. Then we transfer this file to mobile phone in any convenient way. Then we open the phone book, but now click on the “Import” button from the memory card, after which we select the desired file and rejoice at the complete phone book that appears.

Other synchronization methods

This method of synchronization using a PC is not the only one. You can transfer the necessary data using specialized utilities. They can be from an official developer and suitable only for one brand of phone, or from an unofficial developer - for all models and brands. The only thing you need in this case is a USB cable, a downloaded program, installed drivers and the desire to do it. The process will only take a few minutes, during which all the necessary data will be successfully saved.

You can set background data usage and sync settings for all apps on your phone. You can also customize the types of data that should be synced for each account. Some apps, like Gmail and Calendar, have their own sync settings.

Some apps, such as Contacts, Gmail, and Calendar, can sync data across apps. Other apps only sync data from the first one Google account, which was signed in from the phone, or from the account that is associated with that specific application.

Some accounts perform two-way synchronization. Changes to the information on your phone are updated to the online copy of this information. A Google account works in a similar way. Other accounts only support one-way synchronization. Information on the phone is read-only.

Defining general sync settings

1. Go to the Account and Sync Settings screen.

You can do this from the Contacts screen by tapping Menu and then Accounts, or directly in "Settings" (click Home, Menu, then Settings).

This screen shows your current sync settings and a list of current accounts.

Indicates that some or all account information is set to automatically sync with your phone.

Indicates that no account information is configured to automatically sync with the phone.

2. Check or uncheck Background data usage to specify whether apps and services can transfer data if the user is not directly interacting with those apps (that is, the apps are running in the background).

If you clear this checkbox, Gmail will no longer receive new mail The calendar will not sync events etc until the menu item is clicked Update or email sent.

3. Check or uncheck Auto-sync to choose whether to automatically sync information on your phone and online information.

For example, if this setting is turned on, changes to Contacts on your phone will be automatically applied to Google Contacts on the web.

If you disable this setting, you can use the app's tools to manually sync your data. For more information, see the section.

Synchronizing information manually

Changing account sync settings

  1. Go to the Account and Sync Settings screen.
  2. Tap the account whose sync settings you want to change.

The Data and Sync screen opens with a list of all the types of data that can be synced in this account.

The marked items will be synced with your phone.

3. Check or uncheck the boxes for the sections of data you want to sync with your phone.

Unchecking the checkbox won't delete the information from your phone—it just won't sync with the online version of that information. To delete information that was previously synced for this account, you must delete the account itself.

At the last official presentation, we told you how to properly disable synchronization in Google Chrome(2 methods) and how to properly delete your profile data (1 method). Today we will retell all this in the form of an article for those who have not seen or do not know.

Initial data

A few words about why this is needed and where it can be useful. As a rule, users ask this question when they forget to turn off synchronization at work, with friends, on a public computer, and only remember about it at home. Unfortunately, some users are really so fearless that they enable synchronization anywhere and do not think about the consequences. And when their evil colleagues or “friends” start deleting their bookmarks, that’s when panic begins.

But we won't panic. There are two ways to disable synchronization on a remote computer: with and without deleting data on the Google server.

Disable synchronization without deleting data on the server

The method is standard, created specifically for this, but few people know about it. Partly because it is hidden in the depths of your Google account, and not everyone will be able to find it without a guide. Today CHROM.RF will be your guide. Let's go...

1. First of all, we need to get into your Google account. To do this, on any service of this corporation, look for your avatar in the upper right corner, click on it and click on “Account”.

2. Now we need to find the “Security” section in the left menu. Let's go there.

3. This section has a long page, but we need to find the “Related Sites and Applications” subsection at the very bottom of it. And go there through the "Access Control" button.

4. What is this subsection? This displays a list of all sites, services or applications that you have given access to your Google account. Your logins via Google, enabled Android sync, Google API-connected applications - everything is here. And here you can revoke this access by clicking on the “Disable access” button.

We are looking for a line called "Google Chrome". More precisely, we are looking for all lines with the same name, because there may be several of them. It is impossible to clearly determine which of them we need at the moment, so we disable them all.

5. Done! Almost immediately after this, all copies of the Google Chrome browser on all devices will lose connection with your account. After some time, an error will be displayed, which indicates that the connection with the server has been broken.

Now no local changes (deleting a bookmark, for example) will be taken into account on the server, and therefore will not reach all other devices. The data on the server is not deleted. And connecting synchronization back is quite simple: enter the password on each copy of the browser that you want to connect again.

Important: Local data on each device will not disappear anywhere. Bookmarks and passwords will still remain at work, with friends, etc. You just cut off the connection between devices.

Disable synchronization with data deletion on the server

But, as a rule, everyone already knows about this method. Fortunately, finding the treasured button here is quite simple through the Google Chrome settings.

1. Go to the browser settings in the “Login” section. And follow the link to personal account in your account.

2. And here we find a magic button with a very logical name “Stop and delete”.

What effect will this have? Firstly, synchronization will be disabled on all devices (as in the first method, but without the error message). Secondly, your profile data on the server will be completely deleted.

Still important: in this case, local data will not go anywhere. Those. bookmarks, etc. will not be removed from browsers.

But how then to delete local data?

As we all remember from everything described above, disabling synchronization in any way does not do anything with your data on “someone else’s” computer. But what to do then? I should have thought earlier. In this case, there are two ways: bad and good.

Bad way

We do not touch or disable synchronization. We manually delete on your home computer the data that you want to hide/delete from someone else’s computer. And we pray that the synchronization will work and delete this data first from the server, and then from the remote browser. But this method is extremely unreliable. An “evil” colleague could disable synchronization, could turn off the Internet - in this case, nothing will work. By the way, you won’t even be able to check in any way whether the method worked or not.

Good way

And this is the only guaranteed way to delete your data from the browser. We recommend using only this.

1. Go to work/friends’ house to delete your profile manually. If you can’t get there, ask a “good” colleague.

2. In the browser settings, in the “Users” section, click the “Delete user” button.

If there are several users, then first select yours, and then click “Delete...”. You can even delete the profile of an “evil” colleague. To be kinder.

3. Restart the browser. For what? Because according to my observations, the folder is physically deleted from hard drive precisely when closing the browser, and not when pressing a button.

Conclusion

Anyone who reads carefully will come to a very useful conclusion: no need to enable synchronization anywhere. You can disable it easily and from anywhere, but you may not be able to delete local data after disabling synchronization.

Those who try to use all the standard Android features often encounter synchronization problems. For example, your smartphone works fine, games are downloaded from the Market, but mail stops coming, and new contacts and photos are not added to your Google account.

The good news is that you don’t have to reset or reflash your smartphone to solve the problem. The only thing you need to do is remember the password for your account. If you are okay with this, follow the further instructions.

Diagnostics

Go to your Google account page in Android settings. Most likely, you will see the following picture under the mail name.

To verify the problem, open the account menu. You will read messages about problems, and under the items there will be a rather old date of the last synchronization.

Now you are convinced that the issue is really in the account. Let's fix everything.

Restoring synchronization

Go to "Applications" in Android settings.

Here you need to find the stock Gmail program. Go to its settings and click “Erase data”.

Agree with the system warnings.

Without leaving Gmail settings, scroll down a little and click “Launch.”

The main window will open with your account name. Feel free to switch to Gmail.

After entering your password, you will see that your account is not synchronized. You can perform one-time synchronization or configure it for certain time and conditions. Use your own discretion. We recommend setting everything up right away. This takes a few minutes.

When everything works, mail and other notifications from the system will begin to arrive immediately. To check if everything is ok with your contacts, calendar, etc., go to your Google account in Android settings. Here you will see the latest date of the last synchronization.

Most often, this method relieves the user of the problem for a long time. If it doesn't help, try saving all important information and reset your smartphone to factory settings or flash the device to the latest available version of Android.
