Holy Righteous Martha. Prayers to Saint March of Bethany and Martha of Tsaritsyn in Orthodoxy

Saint Martha lived during the time of Jesus Christ, was personally acquainted with him and believed in God before the miraculous Resurrection. In Catholicism, the righteous woman of God is known as Saint Martha, in Orthodoxy she is called Martha.

We know two sisters - St. Mary and St. Martha, who are completely different. Saint Mary at one time forgot all household duties and listened only to the sermons of Jesus Christ, considering earthly things to be transitory, the main thing being divine providence.

Saint Martha personified activity, she was always busy and fussing about the housework, and always prepared the best for her guests. And one day she shamed her sister when they had a guest. Like, Maria doesn’t want to help with the housework. And then the guest, and it was Jesus, said that you, Martha, are fussing about many things, but you need to worry about the salvation of your soul.

Another episode with the mention of Martha is associated with Lazarus, her brother, when he fell ill and was in great need of the help of Jesus Christ. But the Son of God was far from Bethany at that time and did not have time to arrive in time to help Lazarus. And the sick Lazarus died. The sisters Saint Mary and Saint Martha began to mourn the death of their brother, but Jesus came to the city and was able to resurrect the deceased.

Saint Martha in Christianity is considered the patroness household, cooks, waiters, servants, is one of the myrrh-bearing women.

To turn to Saint Martha, you don’t have to come to church in person; you can pray in front of the image of the righteous woman at home. Even if there is no icon, you can still say prayers. If you don’t know church texts, you can pray in your own words, if there is no malicious intent in them, if they come from a pure heart, then Saint Martha will definitely hear them.

Probably every person dreamed of having a magic wand that would help him achieve his goal. But alas, in life everyone must achieve in life on their own, because magic wands does not exist. But sometimes luck can turn around. And prayer for the fulfillment of a cherished desire can bring this closer. If you say it on your birthday, it will strengthen the prayer.

The prayer is said once, this one is very strong prayer, which will help you achieve your goal and solve difficult situations that have arisen. Only in your dream there should be no revenge or other negative desires, then you should not turn to anyone with such a request.

The prayer for the fulfillment of a wish is read every Tuesday 9 times. Place a church candle on the table, light it and, concentrating on the words in complete silence, read the prayer. You can read at any time of the day, but with good mood, without negative thoughts. After reading the prayer, let the candle burn out. Write down the text of the prayer and your desire on paper so that you can pronounce it clearly and without hesitation.

After reading the prayer, read the Lord's Prayer once:

After this, you need to turn to the Most Holy Theotokos.

A fool to the world, a beloved child to God...

Holy blessed Martha, a fool for Christ's sake, labored in the Ivanovo nunnery at the beginning of the 17th century 1 . Monastic tradition has preserved scant information about her earthly life.

Who her parents were, what their rank was, what she did in the world, whether she entered the monastery early is unknown. We only know that the servant of God Daria, as she was called in the world, I didn’t love the world, nor anyone else in the world. She severed all ties with him, dooming herself to permanent virginity, renouncing her will, imprisoned herself within the walls of the monastery and, after years of trial, pronounced vows of obedience, chastity and non-covetousness before the altar of the Lord. This alone speaks about her that she was a true Christian, she was zealous for the salvation of her soul, she was looking not for earthly pleasures, but for eternal bliss. When she was tonsured, she received the name of Martha and, placing the cross of Christ on her shoulder, walked towards the heavenly fatherland along the thorny path of monasticism. The monk’s struggle with the internal enemies of salvation, the successes of moral life, voluntary suffering committed out of love for God, for the most part remain known only to Him.

We do not know exactly what monastic feats Martha performed and how many years she labored as a simple nun; but from everything it is clear that, as the bride of Christ, she passionately loved her Bridegroom, imitating the mysterious bride who says in the book of Song of Songs: My beloved belongs to me, and I belong to Him. 2 The ascetic’s zeal, diligence and success in fulfilling her monastic vows were so great that she was also awarded the great angelic image, the great schema. Schema is the highest manifestation of love for Christ, it is the pinnacle of monastic feat; few are worthy of it.

But the ascetic, guided by God’s providence, did not stop there either. She was not content with completely breaking off all ties with the world; she died not only for pleasure, but also for natural needs flesh. Martha's heart flared up with love for the Lord more and more. Having renounced all earthly joys out of love for Christ, Martha took upon herself one of the most difficult, amazing Christian feats; refused the usual use of human reason - she became a holy fool.

Imagine how high and difficult her feat was. How much humility she needed to have in order to seem worse than everyone, stupider than everyone! How much patience to endure the ridicule and contempt inevitable in such a life. How much wisdom is there not to allow anything sinful, tempting, any injustice, disrespect for others, insults in strange, apparently insane actions. To this internal cross, the voluntary sufferer, perhaps, also added an external one, common to all fools for Christ’s sake, such as: walking barefoot, half-exposing your body; generally endure hunger and thirst, cold and heat. The head of the saint was a stone, the same one that was placed under her head and in the tomb.

Blessed Martha especially loved the Sparrow Hills, where summer time she would go away for entire nights, and always return to the monastery in the morning. To travel in one night from the Ivanovo Monastery to the Sparrow Hills, to stand there overnight in prayer (of course, the blessed one did not go there for a walk), to return to the monastery in the morning and endure all the services - unparalleled work!

To avoid worldly glory, the holy ascetic, under the guise of foolishness, wanted to hide the exploits of her godly life; but no matter how she hid it, the light of her inner virtues was reflected in her every word and deed; She was soon recognized and respected not only by the nuns who lived with her, but also at the royal court.

In the last ten years of her life, when she stood at the height of her spiritual exploits, she was especially revered by the pious wife of Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich, Evdokia Lukyanovna 3. Of all the Moscow monasteries, the queen especially loved Ivanovsky. She often visited it, went there on foot alone, and with her children, “with her royal children,” distributed alms there, served prayers and memorial services. After a devastating fire in Moscow in 1628, during which the wooden monastery buildings burned out and the poor nuns who were burned lost their shelter, by decree of the queen, they were given an allowance from the treasury for the construction of new cells.

Queen Evdokia had many children: within twelve years she had nine children. There is a legend that the queen, during her frequent visits to the monastery, asked for the prayers of the blessed old woman Martha for a successful release from her burden. This is how the custom arose and was preserved for several centuries in Moscow among pious wives during the period of fruiting to serve a memorial service at the tomb of blessed Martha, asking her help to alleviate the upcoming illnesses of the birth of a baby.

Blessed schema-nun Martha reposed on March 1/14, 1638, on the very day of the Queen’s Angel. The royal court received news of this on the same day. By the highest order, her coffin was not buried in the ground, but placed in the main monastery church directly on the floor, lined with bricks and decorated with a white stone tombstone with the inscription: “On the 1st day of the summer of March 7146 (1638), in memory of the holy martyr Evdokia, the servant of God Darius reposed, and schema-nun Martha the holy fool reposed as a nun.”. Since ancient times, in Rus', as in Greece, only princes and bishops were allowed to be buried in this way. And this is the honor that the holy fool Martha received.

The royal couple continued to honor the deceased old woman; a rich cover for her tomb was sent from the palace by decree of Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich 4. The king's children also continued to remember her. Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was nine years old when the blessed one died. Marfa. More than once he visited Ivan's Monastery with his devout mother. There he saw the holy fool Martha and retained a good memory of her for the rest of his life. In 1669, by decree of the tsar, a wall letter was written in the church on the wall at the northern doors above the holy fool. In this order of the tsar one cannot help but see his respect for the blessed one. Marfa.

The example of the kings was imitated by the people: prayers on her tomb were offered for her and to her. The tradition of her holy life was reverently preserved in the monastery. Respect for her memory grew over the years and subsequently her name was included in the Saints as a saint and righteous 5.

For two hundred and twenty-two years the remains of blessed Martha rested peacefully in ancient temple Ivanovo Monastery. When in 1860 it was necessary to dismantle the old temple, the question arose of what to do with the coffin and remains of Schema-nun Martha. Should I put them in the grave, or temporarily transfer them somewhere else? The temple builder turned to His Eminence Metropolitan Philaret. The Bishop said: “For more than two hundred years she has been resting in the temple. Who are we to deprive her of this honor? Just as she now rests in the old church, so she must be laid to rest in the new one.” Then he ordered to make a box like a coffin from new wood, dismantle the brick on one side of the tombstone and, after serving a requiem mass, without outside witnesses, with special care move the coffin, if it is still intact, into the box and then move it to the monastery chapel at the holy gates for the duration of construction . The order was carried out and the consequences were reported to the ruler 6. It turned out that the lid of the coffin was completely rotten, the sides were rotten, and the bottom board was intact. The bones were all preserved in their entirety; the head lay on a stone; hands folded directly on the chest; Below the waist, the clothing covering the bones has also been preserved. The bones are all light yellow. With the singing of “Holy God,” the remains of Blessed Martha were transferred to the chapel, where they remained for the entire construction of the temple. In 1875, they were transferred to the built temple, reverently placed in a white marble tomb, elegantly decorated with carvings and ornaments, in the refectory part of the temple near the left pillar. 7

The veneration of the blessed one continued in the new monastery, as in the ancient one. One of the sisters was constantly on duty “at the tomb of Schema-nun Martha.” The singing of dirges at her coffin did not stop while he was standing in the chapel, and was also performed in the new cathedral. As one of the descriptions of the monastery says: “There are many praying, and some actually receive help” 8 . They say that through the prayers of Blessed Martha, healing is given to those suffering from binge drinking and help to prisoners in prison.

There are two known appearances of her in reality, from which it is clear how much the blessed one loves the Ivanovo Monastery and how she cares for it. After 1812, when the monastery, devastated by the French, was abolished 9, four old women remained to live out their lives in the remaining cells. They felt sad, remembering the previous monastic singing, divine services, and monastic orders, and in order to console themselves, they sometimes came to the windows of the church at night to pray. So what? They saw either the temple consecrated, or a certain schema-woman praying with raised hands in the middle of the temple. They were convinced that the praying schema-nun was Martha, and that through her prayers, sooner or later the monastery would be restored. They told this to the local clergy and to other residents and visitors of the monastery at that time.

Another incident was related by the monastery’s founder, Maria Alexandrovna Mazurina: “One day in the fall of 1878, at about two o’clock in the afternoon, I was sitting alone,” said Mrs. Mazurina, “in my house (on Vorontsov Field) in the hall opposite front door; to my right is a room in which new icons for the iconostasis of the Ivanovo Monastery stood on the floor and chairs. Suddenly I hear a rustling in the room; I look - some nun, an old woman of about sixty, tall, thin, in a black dress, covered with a white scarf, picks up icons from the floor and places them on the sofa and chairs. At first I was scared, but then I came to my senses and asked her:

- “Mother, where are you from?”

“I am Martha from the Ivanovo Monastery,” answered the stranger. I couldn’t ask anymore, realizing who this Martha was. Two minutes passed, the nun became invisible; and the icons were all raised from the floor. This phenomenon gave me admonition to treat icons with reverence, even unconsecrated ones, and consolation: there is a righteous woman in the monastery who takes care of it and helps me in setting it up,” Maria Alexandrovna concluded her story.

Blessed Martha was a prayer book for the first Romanov kings and was considered the patroness of the royal dynasty. The day of her memory coincides with the memory of the murdered Emperor Alexander II.

In the atheistic times of the early twentieth century, the Ivanovo Monastery, like others, was closed. In 1918, a concentration camp was located outside the monastery walls on the main territory of the monastery. Cathedral of the Beheading of St. Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John, together with the house church of St. Elizabeth the Wonderworker continued to operate until the end of 1926 - beginning of 1927. After the closure of the cathedral and the eviction of more than a hundred nuns of the monastery with the abbess from the monastery, the community of believers turned to the administrative department of the IPCC with a request for the reburial of the relics of Blessed Martha. In 1927, permission was received to remove the coffin with the remains of Schema-nun Martha from the cathedral for burial at the Vagankovskoye cemetery. The further fate of the relics is unknown; There are several guesses, fueled by the hope that the patron saint of the monastery will arrange everything herself.

Currently, the veneration of the ancient saint, glorified in the Cathedral of Moscow Saints 10 in 2001, is being revived; and we have numerous evidence that the holy and blessed Elder Martha constantly helps her monastery, which is being restored again, and soon hears the prayers of everyone who comes to her with faith.

Holy blessed mother Marfo, pray to God for us.

Since Blessed Martha is glorified as locally revered (in the Cathedral of Moscow Saints), the day of her memory is not marked in the general church calendar - March 1/14. 2008 marked the 370th anniversary of her death.

Since human wisdom cannot understand God’s wisdom, who will tell the world the truth of God, if not fools who have left the world, despised all worldly things and are gifted with the highest wisdom.

Troparion, tone 1:

Seeking the highest reason, / you despised the lower, / you were called blessed for the sake of Christ, / Martha, the God-wise old woman, / for this reason you acquired great boldness towards the Lord, / pray to Him to save our souls.

Kontakion ch. 8

Even though your life is unknown to the world, and your relics are hidden from people, / but you are close in spirit to all who honor you, / you quickly hear and help us in all our needs; / moreover, we teach you to love God and to endure everything for His sake; / we also cry out to you: Rejoice, blessed Martha, who enlightens us with the light of the Divine Mind.

3 Tsarina Evdokia Lukyanovna came from a family of noblemen, the Streshnevs; Having become a queen, she retained simplicity, modesty and love for pilgrimage. She was married to Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich on February 5, 1628; died in the same year with her husband on August 18, 1645 and was buried in the Moscow Ascension Convent.

4 In the Moscow Archives of the Armory Chamber, original documents about royal donations for the tomb of Elder Martha have been preserved: column 148, No. 18 and column 184, No. 214.

5 In the full month's book of Archimandrite Sergius (Bishop of Mogilev), under the heading “Russian saints who are in the handwritten calendar, but not canonized,” we read: “Holy Martha, the righteous fool, reposed on March 1, was buried in the cathedral church in the Ivanovo Monastery in Moscow.” Archimandrite Sergius. Complete months of the East. M., 1876. T. II, part 3, appendix, p. 65.

6 The transposition of the relics was carried out by the local clergy in the presence of the temple builder M.A. Mazurina and architect M.D. Bykovsky. The story was confirmed by the priest of the church of St. John the Warrior on Yakimanka, Sergei Vasilyevich Vladislavlev, a direct participant in this event, a former for a long time deacon at the Ivanovo Monastery.

7 A detailed inventory of 1923 indicates the exact location of the blessed one’s tomb in the new cathedral: “In the refectory part of the temple on pillars: on the right [icon] of St. Philaret the Merciful and on the left Martha Ave., both picturesque, gilded. background, marble icon cases with decorations. In front of the image of St. Martha there is a tomb made of white marble.

9 The cathedral became a parish church, the surviving buildings were given over to the printing house.

10 With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Rus', the celebration of the Council of Moscow Saints was established on the Sunday before August 26/September 8 - the Day of the Presentation Vladimir icon Mother of God. The name of Blessed Martha is included in the calendar for church veneration in the Moscow diocese.

Prayer to Saint Martha for the fulfillment of a wish

“Save, Lord!” Thank you for visiting our website, before you start studying the information, we ask you to subscribe to our VKontakte group Prayers for every day. Also visit our page on Odnoklassniki and subscribe to her Prayers for every day Odnoklassniki. “God bless you!”

Sometimes it happens that people want something very badly and in order to achieve what they want, they are ready to do anything: to make a deal with their conscience, to deception and tricks, to abandon their family and neglect their feelings.

So, some try and make every effort to achieve it, while others simply wait for a miracle. Some achieve their results, but others may struggle and do everything possible, but in the end they will not get anything. So in such cases, it is recommended to turn to Saint Martha in prayer for the fulfillment of your desire.

Who is Saint Martha

There are a large number of saints who can help in achieving results, but the most common among them is Saint Martha.

Orthodox scriptures say that she lived at the same time as Christ. She knew him personally. She believed in his divine power even before his Resurrection. Often in Orthodoxy she is most often found as Saint Martha.

They say that she was one of the sisters. Martha and Maria were not alike. They were called the complete opposite. Martha was constantly busy with the housework, trying to provide the guests with the best, and often busy herself with various household chores. At the same time, her sister constantly went to Christ’s sermons, forgetting about housekeeping. Her worldview was based on the fact that everyday chores were petty and perishable before divine providence.

One day Martha decided to express her indignation about this to her sister in front of the guest. In response to such words, the Lord said that Mary was more concerned about the salvation of her soul, and did not fuss about many things.

The next memory of her was the episode with her brother Lazarus. One day Christ was far outside Bethany. At that time, Lazarus became very ill and Jesus did not have time to arrive to heal him. The patient died. The sisters had already begun to mourn him. But as soon as Christ returned, he resurrected the dead.

Often Martha is also called one of the myrrh-bearing women. She is considered the patroness of cooks, servants, waiters, and the entire household.

They read a prayer to Saint Martha and seek help from:

  • healing,
  • Enlightenment
  • I wish you a speedy and successful marriage,
  • The onset of a desired and long-awaited pregnancy,
  • Household amulet,
  • Fulfillment of desires,
  • Resolving money issues
  • Division of property
  • Looking for work.

How to correctly read the prayer to Saint Martha

If you want to ask the Saint for something, then you don’t have to go to church or any temple. It is recommended to have at least the face of a saint. There are a large number of texts of prayers to Saint Martha.

You can read not church texts, but ask in your own words. They will definitely be heard if they do not carry malicious intent and come from a pure heart. If you want her to help you fulfill your wish, then you need to perform a certain cycle of prayers to her. Your wish must be clearly formulated and it will be better if it is written by you in your own hand.

So, to carry out the ritual, you need to stay in new clothes (women - a nightie, men - pajamas). While pronouncing the words, you must clearly visualize the fulfillment of your desire. And then say the following prayer words:

“Oh Saint Martha, You are Miraculous!

I turn to you for help!

And completely in my needs, and you will be my assistant

in my trials!

I promise you with gratitude,

that I will spread this prayer everywhere!

I humbly and tearfully ask -

comfort me in my worries and hardships!

Obediently, for the sake of great joy,

which filled your heart,

I tearfully ask you to take care of me and my family,

so that we keep our God in our hearts

and thus they deserved the Saved Supreme Mediation,

first of all, with the concern that now weighs on me...

help me meet my loved one and create a happy family; etc.)…

...I tearfully ask you, Helper in every need,

conquer the burdens just as you conquered the snake,

until I lay at Your feet!”

“Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Your name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done as it is in heaven and on earth; Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one; For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

“O Mother of God, Virgin, rejoice!

Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you!

Blessed are You in Women and Blessed are You

The fruit of Your womb,

for you gave birth to the Savior of our souls!”

“Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit! And now, and forever, and forever and ever! Amen!" - Read 1 time

“Saint Martha, ask Jesus for us!” - Read 9 times

During the ritual, a candle should burn on the right side of the table. It will be good if it is church. It should burn out to the end. You need to read the words 9 Tuesdays in a row. If the wish came true earlier, then still complete it. If you missed Tuesday, start all over again.

It is advisable to take a bath or shower before the ritual. And also to be alone in a room and alone in your thoughts. In addition, it is not recommended to print texts. It is better to rewrite them by hand. And it is also advisable to write the desire in your own hand, so that it sounds the same every time.

But the most important thing is sincere faith in the Lord and the positive result of what was planned. And then everything will definitely come true!

PRAYER TO SAINT MARTHA!

I know very well that girls have already posted this prayer on the site many times, BUT the prayer contains a promise to spread it, so I am writing it for this purpose.

I’ve already read it 7 times, I have two more to go, and I’ve only now decided to write it! I still really want to believe that it will help.

– Prayer is very powerful; Fulfills all desires (if it pleases Heaven, it means that you will not harm anyone with your desires, voluntarily or unwittingly); wishes are often fulfilled even before the end of the reading cycle.

– The time of day - morning or evening - does not matter. If the candle is a church candle, let it burn out to the end; if it’s different, let it burn for 15-20 minutes, and then you can put it out (don’t blow it out!). It is better if you lubricate the candle with bergamot oil (with your palm, from bottom to top, from the base of the candle to the wick). It’s also better if there are fresh flowers nearby! But bergamot and flowers are not necessary, but very desirable!

– The desire is better to write down on paper so that it always sounds the same when reading the entire text of the prayer. One cycle - one desire.

– The prayer cannot be printed and read; You need to rewrite all the texts by hand and use them already! The text you have rewritten cannot be passed on to others; each person must rewrite the text of the prayers in his own hand (you can dictate to him or simply give yours or this printed text for rewriting).

“Oh Saint Martha, You are Miraculous!

(help me.. (your wish, in a few sentences))…

...I tearfully ask you, Helper in every need, overcome hardships just as You defeated the snake until it lay at Your feet!”

Our Father who art in heaven!

Hallowed be Thy name;

Thy kingdom come;

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;

Give us our daily bread;

and forgive us our sins,

for we also forgive every debtor to us;

and do not lead us into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Well done! It helped me about six months later 😉 let it help everyone who believes too!

I wonder if this prayer has really helped anyone?

I read that I helped many even in the middle of this cycle of prayers. Let's hope everything works out for us!

How can you even make fun of prayers? (((

Helped me! The main thing here is to believe, and then everything will work out!!

I don’t want to disappoint you, but I read this prayer for 2 cycles. somewhere in the spring, we are still waiting for a miracle. I don't believe it anymore!

Girls, definitely Martha, not Martha.

Nastasika, I read somewhere that Martha is a saint among the Orthodox, and Martha is a saint among Catholics!

Lyal :), you know, it’s on the website different people who sometimes write without thinking, not realizing that they can offend the author with their words.

MOMMY, don’t be upset, everything will definitely come, the main thing is to believe and wait for your miracle and never give up

Oooh, I also accidentally came across this prayer today. More precisely, God himself brought us. Today I also decided to start reading this prayer. I’ve read enough, let me think, I’ll go and look at the blogs, and here’s such a coincidence)))). Good luck and may everything come true.

Prayer is very powerful; Fulfills all desires (if it pleases Heaven, it means that you will not harm anyone with your desires, voluntarily or unwittingly); wishes are often fulfilled even before the end of the reading cycle. Personally, I get fulfilled a few months after the cycle. We read one cycle and forgot, we don’t wait for it to be fulfilled.

You need to read it in a cycle - 9 Tuesdays in a row. If one of the Tuesdays is missed, start all over again. If your wish came true earlier, still read to the end of the cycle (all 9 Tuesdays). There should be a candle burning nearby (to the right) on the table. You can use any candle, but preferably a church candle, a small one.

    Orthodox prayer to Saint Martha

Expectant mothers especially need divine grace, so they need to pray more often, and if their health allows, they should not refuse to visit church. This is where the custom of praying to Saint Martha during pregnancy came from. Before giving birth, you must definitely ask Saint Martha in prayer for help and a safe resolution.

    Miracle-working prayer to Martha Tsaritsyn

Marfa was born in Tsaritsyn, the former name of Volgograd. After graduating from high school, her parents sent the girl to St. Petersburg, where John of Kronstadt blessed her on the path of foolishness. Martha asked to be with her parents and lived in St. Petersburg until the death of John of Kronstadt. After the death of the Saint, she moved back to hometown and settled in a barn in the courtyard of her parents’ house. The townspeople noticed that Christian prayers After Blessed Martha, peace was established in the house and the well-being of the family improved, they began to often invite the blessed one to visit them. There is much evidence of the grace-filled help received through the prayer of Saint Martha of Tsaritsyn - it relieves pain, heals illnesses, relieves sinful addictions, and helps solve financial difficulties.

Strong prayer to Martha of Tambov

Text of the prayer to Saint Martha

O blessed and holy women, who followed Christ God with faith and love and settled in the abode of the Heavenly Father! Now I, a sinner (name), come running to you and humbly pray: teach me and help me to walk before God in your ways without stumbling and inherit eternal life with you. O righteous Martha, who pleased Christ with your firm confession of faith, strengthen my weak faith. To serve the Lord and the brethren without hypocrisy and with all diligence, help me to carry out my service without complaint and with all my soul. I called your sister, who was once in sorrow, to Christ, saying to her: The Teacher has come and is speaking to you. Now appear to me in this difficult hour of testing my faith and love and tell me in the depths of my heart that the Lord Jesus is coming invisibly, and through trials will draw me to Himself! Ask me, O holy mother, from our Lord for strength and strength, so that when I arise quickly, I will flow to Him, worship Him, and in His humble love I will find His peace and the salvation of my soul. And you, O God-loving Mary, who at the feet of Jesus found the only thing you need, pray to Him for the good part of those being saved and to make me better off as a sinner. Having brought the fragrant myrrh as a gift of thanksgiving to Christ the Giver of Life, now beg Him to give to my soul: the myrrh of prayer and repentance, tears, purity and good deeds, a fragrance, as if the Lord would come to my heart renewed by all these and create an abode for Himself. To you, O holy righteous women, Martha and Mary, I fall and humbly pray: do not leave me in the days of difficult trials, lest I be tempted by the corruptible delights of this world, especially in the bitter hour of separation of my soul from my body, present yourself to me and beg our common Master May he look upon me in the impoverishment of my strength with a merciful eye and, having forgiven all my sins, raise me to endless life in the blessed abodes of the Heavenly Father. Amen.

I take all prayers very seriously. I believe in their miraculous power. I believe in prayers, in God, I believe in saints.

    Prayer to Saint Martha

Prayer is very powerful. Fulfills all desires (if it pleases Heaven, it means that you will not harm anyone with your desires, voluntarily or unwittingly); wishes are often fulfilled even before the end of the reading cycle.

“Oh Saint Martha, You are Miraculous!

I turn to you for help! And completely in my needs, and you will be my helper in my trials! I promise you with gratitude that I will spread this prayer everywhere! Humbly, for the sake of the great joy that filled your heart, I tearfully ask you to take care of me and my family, so that we preserve our God in our hearts and thereby deserve the Saved Supreme Mediation, first of all, with the concern that now burdens me...

There should be a candle burning nearby (to the right) on the table. You can use any candle, but preferably a church candle, a small one.

The time of day - morning or evening - does not matter.

The desire is better written down on paper so that it always sounds the same when reading the entire text of the prayer. One cycle - one desire.

The prayer cannot be printed out and read; You need to rewrite all the texts by hand and use them already! The text you have rewritten cannot be passed on to others; each person must rewrite the text of the prayers in his own hand (you can dictate to him or simply give yours or this printed text for rewriting).

  • Believers often turn to saints and ascetics in order to strengthen themselves in their righteous life, receive support, or even gain some kind of banal improvement:

    • to be cured;
    • get rid of passions;
    • improve relationships.

The great ascetics of bygone times are especially popular, but even in modern times Orthodoxy knows a considerable number of saints who glorified the Lord with their miracles and helped many people. Such modern ascetics include, for example, the well-known John of Kronstadt, as well as the Saint Martha icon and prayer, which is considered miraculous.

At the same time, many believers have incomplete information and therefore may be slightly mistaken in their religious practices. Veneration of Saint Martha and her miraculous icon is a typical example. Therefore, you should understand everything in order.

    The Story of Saint Martha

That’s right, in fact, the Orthodox ascetic, who was born in the second half of the 19th century in Volgograd, is called Martha, and Martha is the Catholic pronunciation of the name. Secondly, no one knows the original name (and surname).

The world learned about this girl precisely thanks to her ascetic feat, which began with a trip to St. Petersburg. It was not in vain that we mentioned Saint John of Kronstadt at the beginning, because it was thanks to him that the girl became an ascetic. Once in St. Petersburg, she saw an Orthodox elder and he predicted her life in Christ and for his glory.

That's exactly what happened. Returning to her native Volgograd, Marfa encounters family rejection of her passion for Christianity, but does not succumb to worldly comfort and leaves home. Having settled in a small shed, he prays regularly, and then takes upon himself the feat of foolishness for Christ’s sake. Over time, various miracles begin to appear and many people even have an icon on the iconostasis in their homes, which, according to believers, fulfills wishes, of course with the image of Martha.

Only the ascetic herself strongly opposed such veneration and did not particularly welcome the veneration of her icons. Moreover, she has not yet been officially recognized as a saint, that is, for churchgoers, the phrase Saint Martha in the strict sense is not acceptable, nor is the veneration of icons. Nevertheless, prayers are possible, and icons, by the grace of the Lord, bring good to people, because, in fact, canonization in this situation is nothing more than a formality.

During her relatively short earthly journey (1880-1925), Martha gained veneration from a significant number of believers. Even the wife of Emperor Nicholas II came to her for advice and help.

If we touch on the meaning of the icon of St. Martha, then it invisibly helps believers to this day. A huge stream of pilgrims regularly flocks to the grave in Volgograd, many of whom take some soil for themselves in order to heal, and the workers of the Central Cemetery of Volgograd carefully add sand there again. The icon of St. Martha the Wonderworking is available for veneration and is located at the Dmitrovskoe cemetery of the city.

    Miracles of Saint Martha

Throughout her entire ascetic journey, Saint Martha prayed for the good of all humanity. She loved people and strived to bring good to everyone.

It was thanks to this and the help of the Lord that people who even just talked to her got rid of passions or were cured of serious illnesses.

For example, it is known next fact about Martha’s foolishness: she often walked along the streets of her city and threw small stones at people. The ascetic’s pockets were filled with them, people, in turn, did not understand the holy fool’s behavior and some, of course, reacted angrily to such behavior. Only later did many people begin to notice that if a pebble landed where it hurt, healing occurred, so they understood the miraculous power of this foolishness.

Just like many other saints, Martha predicted and own care from the mortal world and even more. In addition to prophecies about Russia, they predicted a threefold reburial of their own remains, and in the end this is exactly what happened. At first she was buried in the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, which later became a prison, and the remains were transferred to the Alekseevskaya Church, and from there to the central cemetery of the city, where the saint still rests.

A short prayer to the icon of St. Martha

Blessed Martha of Tsaritsyn, pray to God for us!

Usually believers know several names of the most famous saints and righteous people, although in fact there are many more of them. One of these “unknown” personalities can be considered Saint Martha, in Orthodox Church- Marfa. People often turn to her for help in difficult life situations. The prayer to Saint Martha for the fulfillment of a wish is often found in the form of conspiracies, although it is a common appeal to the saint.

Martha is known from the Gospel of John and Luke, more precisely, from the story of Lazarus. Martha, Mary and Lazarus were sisters and brother who lived together in one of the villages. Mary often forgot about household chores, constantly listened only to the sermons of Christ and generally had little interest in earthly life, believing that the afterlife was much more important. Martha, on the contrary, always tried to treat guests tastier, looked after them and took care of the housework.

Seeing that her sister was sitting near Christ and was not helping her, Martha reproached Mary: “Why don’t you want to help me? I don’t have time to prepare a delicious dinner for such an important guest.” However, Christ himself answered that Mary chose the good path of service, and Martha was in vain worrying about many things, although he (Christ) needed only one thing.

Martha is mentioned again in the story of the resurrection of Lazarus. She met Christ who was in a hurry to say goodbye to his friend, while Mary was sitting with her dead brother, and reported that Lazarus had died. She asked to resurrect him, and Jesus said to her: “Your brother will be resurrected.”

The real name of the saint, the sister of Lazarus, who is spoken of in the Gospel, is Martha. Martha is a variant in the Orthodox Church. The saint is one of the myrrh-bearing women who hurried to the tomb of Christ on the night before his resurrection to wash the body and put incense.

The name itself comes from Greek name, which came from Aramaic "Mistress" or "Mistress". In Hebrew, “Martha” means “bitter.” It is not surprising that in Christianity, Martha is the patroness of the household and family, as well as everyone associated with the kitchen and cooking: cooks, waiters, etc.

In Orthodoxy, several saints with the name Martha or Martha are venerated., but Blessed Martha of Tsaritsyn is especially famous. The latter can be considered a “unique” person: she was born at the end of the century before last, faced miracles all her life, left behind many interesting prophecies, but her biography is replete with white spots and guesses.

Even her real name unknown (according to some sources she is Medvedskaya), some researchers also question her name. This is due to the lack of any information in the newspapers of that time: all data was left by the blessed one’s contemporaries, the oldest of whom died more than fifty years ago.

She was born in Tsaritsyn (now Volgograd) in 1880 into a wealthy family and graduated from the local gymnasium. Martha was the only child in the family who grew up in parental love. Since childhood, she was pious and humble, loved to listen to the stories of pilgrims and even went with them several times.

After graduating from the gymnasium, the parents sent the girl to St. Petersburg to the then famous Father John of Kronshdat, the founder of the Kronstadt St. Andrew's Cathedral. He blessed her with special instructions. Her father asked her to spread faith in Christ and teach people the correct understanding of this faith, to walk the earth and remind people of the Lord. There is also a legend that it was Father John who gave the name Martha to the girl, and also predicted that she would become a famous preacher in the Volga region.

Returning home, the girl told her parents that she was taking upon herself the feat of foolishness and returning to St. Petersburg to study with John. After the death of the latter in 1908, Marfa nevertheless returned to Tsaritsyn and settled in a barn on backyard parents. In the city, she collected money for churches, prayed, predicted the future, and preached. The blessed one was constantly invited to houses, believing that the house in which she would spend the night would be blessed.

The blessed one called on the residents to build the Holy Spiritual Monastery: she collected donations, often prayed for the construction, and asked everyone who wanted to help. It was completed in 1911; a small cell was built for Martha herself in the monastery.

She survived the revolution, the First world war and a change of power. Marfa Tsaritsynskaya died in 1925, having predicted before her death that she would be buried three times. And so it happened: for the first time she was buried in the cemetery of the Holy Spiritual Monastery. When it was closed, the relics were transferred to the Alekseevskaya cemetery - there was a church built by a merchant at the insistence of Martha. After the war, when the Alekseevskoye cemetery was destroyed, she was moved to Dmitrovskoye, where Marfa now rests. Pilgrims constantly came to her grave even in Soviet times.

Today you can find her grave at the address Volgograd, Karl Liebknecht Street, 2a, Central Dmitrovskoe Cemetery. You can get to it from the railway station by trolleybus 7 or 10, stop “Tekhnikum”.

Miracles and predictions of the blessed one

During her lifetime, the blessed one often predicted the future, but she did it allegorically. Below are some of her predictions regarding the Inin family. In this family, Martha often spent the night in the barn with the goats:

    1. The saint once predicted a trip to Moscow for the eldest daughter, Lusha. Lusha replied that they had no relatives in Moscow, and there was no one to leave their family (husband and son) with. But Marfa repeated about the trip, adding that they had many relatives in Moscow, and they would meet their family there. Three weeks later, Lusha died of a heart attack, and a month later her husband and soon after her son died;
    2. Martha predicted a difficult but long life for the middle sister, Anna, and said that she would endure all the trials. The prediction came true;
    3. The saint did not advise the youngest, Evdokia, to get married. One day she even started chasing the girl with a broom, saying: “Where is your braid? Why did you cut it off?" Evdokia, crying, showed her whole braid, but blessed Martha meant girlhood, and by cutting it off - marriage. When Evdokia got married a few years later, her husband left her with a small child.

Empress Alexandra Feodorovna also came to Marfa Tsaritsynskaya. When the blessed one entered the room where the empress was waiting, she threw the eight dolls she was holding on the floor, doused them with red liquid and set them on fire, shouting: “It’s all of you, you! This is your future! You will burn everything! I see a lot of blood!

Another legend is associated with Antonina Melnikova. As a child, the girl suffered from dropsy and begged her father to take her to Martha, whose healing powers were rumored at that time. The father did not agree for a long time, but still took his daughter to the village. The blessed one was found only at noon. Seeing her, the girl burst into tears of pain and said that she must die soon. Martha nodded, sat Antonina down next to her, put her head on her lap and began to pray for her. A few hours later, all the excess fluid left the girl’s body, and she completely recovered.

Antonina became very attached to Martha, often came to her, and then began to walk with the blessed one as a novice. After her, memories of Martha’s life and habits were preserved.

    Blessed Prayer

During her lifetime, Saint Martha of Tsaritsyn helped many people - she predicted the future or warned, prayed for recovery or well-being. After her death, miracles did not disappear: many pilgrims who came to the saint were healed or received what they wanted ( new job, Love). Many records have been preserved about this, and they are constantly being updated.

Saint Martha is addressed in the following cases:

People usually come to the blessed one’s grave to ask for something especially important: health for the family, finding love, etc. Many believe that in this case the words will “reach” Martha faster and will have greater power. Also, the appeal will be intensified when praying on your birthday or April 18 (the day of memory of Martha of Bethany, sister of Lazarus). It is worth taking bread or crumbs for birds with you to the grave - the blessed one loved all living things and constantly fed animals and birds.

But to pray to Saint Martha it is not necessary to go to her grave: this can be done at home, in front of her icon.

To do this, you need to follow several recommendations:

On the Internet it is easy to find a prayer to Martha for the fulfillment of desires (strong or miraculous, spells), for example, the prayer to St. Martha “Ask Jesus for us.” It is worth noting that the blessed one does not fulfill wishes or requests by magic. She is a “mediator” between the believer and the Lord; her appeal to God strengthens the request made. Help in fulfilling a desire usually consists of creating the conditions for its fulfillment. For example, a person looking for a job will come across an advertisement for a suitable position, but whether to call is up to him to decide.
