Ham is a salted and smoked pork leg that retains the structure of the meat. Sometimes, however, it is not a ham, but a shoulder that is used as a raw material for the production of ham, and in general they can make ham from turkey, chicken, and game. Depending on the method of preparation, ham can be boiled, boiled-smoked, smoked-baked, raw smoked and dry-cured, and the difference between all its types is determined primarily by the method of processing the meat. There are many recipes for preparing ham at home, primarily boiled. The ideal option is if you purchased a ham maker. The design of the ham maker is very simple. It consists of a hollow cylindrical body into which bottom lids are inserted on both sides. The covers are tightened by three springs. One of the lids is motionless, and the other lid, using springs, compresses the contents of the ham maker. But you can use improvised materials to prepare ham, such as juice bags, tall pineapple cans, a plastic bottle cut off at the top, and others. Homemade ham is perfectly prepared in a slow cooker. I bought a ham maker a little over a year ago in bulk. It cost me a ridiculous 800 rubles. It would be a sin not to try.

I didn't have a slow cooker at the time. But to use a ham maker, a multicooker is by and large not needed.

But first things first. The composition of the invention is very simple - 4 springs, a bottom and a lid and the body itself. It couldn't be simpler. A baking sleeve is required for use. I don’t tie the edges, but use rubber bands as for money. It's more comfortable for me.

We assemble the bottom to the body, insert the bag, put in our future ham (some cut it into pieces, some prefer to stuff the minced meat, some put large, but pre-marinated pieces. Mine prefer small pieces of assorted meat), tie the bag, cover with a lid and.. .. and then the most difficult part begins - putting on the springs. While they were new, I had to resort to the help of my husband, I had no way of putting them on myself. Later they tightened up and now I can cope just fine on my own. Well, it's just a matter of habit.

Since my family prefers me to cut the meat into small pieces, I add gelatin to better glue the pieces together. I don't add any spices, just salt and pepper, because... Otherwise my child turns up his nose, well, he doesn’t like spices. And it’s very tasty with them. Yes, in any case, I have never had a bad experience with it))

Now what's the best way to cook? The first time I made it in the oven, putting the ham in a baking dish (and I did it right). The bag was punctured, the springs were still new and very strong. The smell of burnt leaked juice filled the entire apartment... I didn’t really like this option. Although the next time I lined the joints of the springs with milk caps and my bag tore slightly and only at the end. So this option has a right to exist.

The second option is to put the ham in a saucepan and fill it with water, simmer over low heat for a couple of hours. This is, of course, quite convenient, but not everyone has such large pots and it is not convenient to constantly monitor to add water. This option is also possible.

The third option is to put the ham maker in the slow cooker, fill it with water and set the soup mode. By the way, if you cook only from chicken, then an hour of cooking in a slow cooker is enough. If you cook with other meat, it’s better to wait two hours. My favorite combination is pork and beef. This option is the most convenient. You can get ready and go for a walk with your child. Fabulous!

After cooking, the ham should be cooled and placed in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning you can have a great homemade delicacy. This time I didn’t even have time to take a picture of the result - they ate it instantly))

Yes, after about 7 times of use, the springs stopped tearing the bag and now everything is just gorgeous)))

We all know that it is very difficult to find natural ham on store shelves. Some hams don't even contain meat. But we want to eat food that does not contain starch, soy, flavoring additives, preservatives and dyes. Today, I want to invite you to cook homemade pork ham in a slow cooker. Making homemade ham in a ham maker is very easy. It is enough to have the ham maker itself. I choose the method - in a slow cooker. You can cook ham in a slow cooker when you don’t have a saucepan or oven at hand, but you have a slow cooker and a ham maker. Oh, I've said so much.

Let's go back to the kitchen with our grandmothers... I'm sure they'll like the idea, but the kitchen girlfriends' names aren't that easy to pronounce. My grandmother probably wouldn’t have been able to say it all together, but she prepared excellent ham - from domestic duck, in intestinal films. Instead of an intestine, I have a food sleeve.

The meat of any animal, bird or game can be used as the main ingredient. I'll stick with the chicken ham. It turns out especially tender and homely.

To prepare ham in a ham maker in a slow cooker, take the products from the list.

Cut off a whole breast and two legs.

We remove the skin. Separate the chicken fillet from the bones. Cut into pieces.

Grind chicken skin, 100 g of chicken, onions and garlic in a meat grinder.

Add a chicken egg, salt, a mixture of peppers and Provençal herbs to the minced meat.

Mix the ham mince thoroughly with your hands.

We take a food sleeve suitable for cooking in a ham maker. Place some of the minced meat into the sleeve. We install the bottom of the ham pot. We tighten the springs.

Transfer the sleeve with minced meat to the ham maker. We compact it, being careful not to catch on the sharp ends of the springs.

Compact the minced meat. We tie the sleeve with a special device that comes with the kit, or with a ribbon cut from the sleeve.

Close the ham maker. We fix the springs.

Pour water into the multicooker bowl to the 3.5 liter mark. Place the ham maker into the slow cooker.

Set the timer for 3 hours. Close the multicooker until the final signal. There should be no boiling intensity. Heating mode - medium. I started out on “baking” and then switched to “soup”.

We take out the ham dish. Cool quickly in a container of ice water. Let the stainless jar cool completely.

Take out the sleeve with the ham. It must be cooled first and then opened with scissors.

Ole-hop, it's ready! The ham in the slow cooker turned out very tender and flavorful.
